I mostly play Rust in unpopulated servers because I want to feel like I'm Living Off the Land and making Art with Wooden Signs, but if I ever get over my social anxiety maybe I could team up with some cool people. Either way I'm subscribing!
Try out some small servers. There are often friendly people to talk to. I've never found a small server where a person or group being a jerk didn't result in the other players striking up spontaneous friendships to get back at the baddies.
Great content as always! Been playing for a while but I didn't actually know how much health the rotors have. I play on a server that shows a damage report for the patrol helis and could never figure out how some people (known to have top-tier aim skills) took em down in less than 2k total damage!
Thanks so much for this incredibly informational guide. I did not know the patrol heli had three separate hp types, and that all I had to do was hit both rotors to make life easier. I was also surprised why the heli started flying away when I hid in a lower floor whenever it fired its rockets, it appears it was because I was out of its line of sight. With this, I think I can finally solo it now XD
this advice is kinda garbage: You don't have to destroy the main rotor and rear rotor. Heli takes additional damage from any weak point, so you can focus on just main rotor and it's just as fast as targeting main and rear rotor. Target main and listen for the characteristic ching and falling of metal as you hit rotor. Either does the same damage. The traditional heli tower involving a 2x2 square foundation is super inefficient. There are way better designs out there, and this video is totally unachievable in a vanilla wipe even with 2x unless server is dead. Bad tower design. Better yet, fight heli at lighthouse or gas station, not building a second heli base at all! I solo heli with a couple thompsons. So dont necessarily wait til you get ak. Sar is also ok, but chances are you will run out of weapon condition before downing heli, so have an additional sar if you are solo. Minimum supplies for taking heli (Assuming solo and half decent at shooting): 380 5.56mm rifle rounds (Or 420 rounds of 9mm if you're using thompson, mp5 is too inaccurate and has lower damage per shot) 1 AK (or 2 SARS or 2 Thompsons), 2 AKs to be absolutely sure if it's your first time Full roadsign kit, plus standard hoodie, leather gloves, combat boots, pants 20 syringes 10 bandages Some pumpkins if you have em. Good luck! This guide kinda sucks tho...Maybe watch some other videos
The attack heli is far more accurate than i see in the video, even i have almost the same base design execept the roof, he still hit almost the 70% of his shots and does insane damage-

Or don’t be over excessive and make a tower instead get some stone walls or wood walls meds and ammo and go outside and shoot it down or take it from main base or most preferably a small monument like oxums

Good tutorial for me after my last experince fighting heli( i had a not honeycombd two by two and few aks cause i was on modded server ans just a sleeping bag, i and my mate died and when we came back our base wasnt there and the heli destroyed just one foundation left😭)
Whoever wrote the code for this is stupid....two complete ak kits are standing dead ass in the open not one problem...but me naked with a bow gets chased around the map zero sense
Id say it is very incorrect the heli prioritizes its gun. Just fought it and it pelted me with rockets 4 times destroying 1 side of my tower instantly. Like it fired its gun when flying towards me after i grabbed its attention and then it was literally full on rockets. I was even able to auto 50 m249 bullets into it from the destroyed side of my tower and it didnt gun me because he was flying away to shoot more rockets…
Pro time @Jfarr no gear is needed for taking heli or any npc for that matter they hit you for the same amount of damage wither you are naked or full metal this include scientist's (does not apply to animals)
I don’t think you have to take out the back propeller if you just take out the main one 🤔 I love those little gun descriptions you put up as you spoke about each gun that looks really cool and informative
Cheers Reece. Regarding the propellers, you must take out both. You can see an example at 4:10 of the main rotor being destroyed but the patrol helicopter remains flying. Footage kind of cuts off early but the heli does circle back around and continue to fight me.
@@JfarrYT Hmm i have over 2'000 hours and ive never noticed once the main propeller is taken out it continues to fly around unless my team mates are just always taking the back one out first while im focused on the main one
What exactly is the rule for making heli shoot incen rockets instead of boom rockets? I thought it was being building blocked by a TC with someone else authed on it, but it shot rockets in that scenario. Does the authed person need to be in range and inside the base?
If you're inside any armored or reinforced base it will fire rockets to try and destroy your cover. If you're in the open it's minigun behind armor it's rockets
what about the big chinook helicopter that also has the same weapons but is bigger with 2 main rotors, is it the same as in rotor is weakpoint, same strat, and same loot? or am i missing something, just got rust and only have around 50 hours so just wanted to know
The chinook is a completely separate event and can't be easily shot down like the patrol helicopter. The chinook roams the map and drops a locked crate and leaves. Players will then fight over the locked crate for its loot. My next video will be on the chinook event so hopefully it will clear more questions up.
You can shoot down the heli if you destroy the main rotor (you don't need to destroy the tail). I usually only aim for main rotor and he crashes (tail one doesn't even have smoke)
You definitely need to destroy both the main rotor and tail. You can see at 5:35 the tail rotor breaks and emits flames and smoke. At 4:08 I shoot the heli with an M249 and destroy the main rotor (Seen by the flames and smoke) which doesn't cause it to crash. You likely hit and destroyed the tail rotor during the fight, making it seem like it only requires the main rotor to be destroyed. It's even possible you destroyed the main rotor and caused enough damage to the main body to cause it to crash.
@@H00F so to take heli you rreally build a new base, have a box of meds, get t2 armour and get box of supplies for sealing? if you do you must be pretty new

If you clear authorization from yourself your base will not take damage from the helicopter. This is to prevent people from using heli to rocket bases

Honestly farming heli with a jackhammer is a waste of time. It defiantly deserves a buff, It would keep the pvp going long after with all the grubs.

I believe it uses a mixture of incendiary and normal rockets or either has a single rocket type that deals both explosive and fire damage.

1 shot of an ak47 to the tail rotor of an Apache in RL will take it down. More than likely.

I have 200 hours on Rust and I had no idea it only goes after you if you have more than two pieces of clothes and/or a weapon in your hotbox
Hopefully now you can feel a little safer roaming around.

Terrible place to hold crates, easy place to shotgun camp, rockets will fuck you up if it can. I really would not recommend the cave!
