Creating Fantasy Plants | Part 1 | Worldbuilding Plants
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 жов 2024
- In this worldbuilding plants video you will get to know some interesting fantasy plants and fantasy trees of the World of Raja, where my WebToon „Weltengeist" will take place.
This video is part of a longer series where I will introduce you to the wildlife of the World and maybe we will be able to build a whole ecosystem out of it. It is not about worldbuilding plants but worldbuilding creatures in general.
I hope that I could improve the sound and overall quality of the video. Please tell me your honest critique and feedback! And if you have questions let me know as well: I will reply to every comment as soon as possible.

"... You can connect with the soul of the world" hallucinogen. Got it.
2:45 - Dragonbark
3:30 - Ghostcrown / Prophet's banyan
6:50 - Parasol winebush
7:25 - Moonsap / Glowsap
8:35 - Wander-I-Will / Rooting nomad / Wanderwood
9:44 - Shadowroot
Here are some name ideas
2:47 Stonehide or Stonescale (Tree)
3:22 Godglow or Spiritshine (Tree)
6:57 Goldleaf
7:27 Goldsleep Tree
8:40 Wander Willow
9:05 Bloodfruit Tree
10:28 Umbrage Tree or Shadow Tree
12:29 Varek
My thought process behind some of these names:
1. Godglow of Spiritshine. It was already mentioned that the tree is believed to be sacred by some people and that eating its fruit one is putting you in tune with the soul of the world. So I find especially Godglow very fitting.
2) Goldleaf. Since you already said it is barely a tree, I find it more fitting to leave it out of it's name.
3) Goldsleep Tree. Since it can out people to a temporary or permanent and undisturbed therefore "golden" sleep and its 'blood' is golden as well, I find it to be a perfect fit.
4) Since the fruit seemed to be the important part of the tree and many plants are actually named after their fruit, Bloodfruit Tree would work just fine.
5) Umbrage is just a more antic way of saying shadow. The shadow aspect seems quite important for your culture, so just naming it for what it seems sensable to me
Thank you for your effort of typing all this out! I really love these names! As I am currently upgrading the Navurian language (yes the names aren't just random gibberish I typed) I will use your names and translate them!
@@weltengeist Your welcome. I'm an avid Worldbuilder myself, so it was a pleasure. Cool! I already had my suspicions that it was more than random words. One day you should make a video on the language .
All this is wonderful, I'm always frustrated in d&d about the lack of plant life that is non-carnivorous and non mobile. As if the only plant life worth discussing is that which will attack you. What of alchemy supplies? Food? Healing and poisons? This was wonderful
your art is incredible
All credits to MarshArt!
2:50 Are there dragons in your world? If there are, I would call this tree the Dragon Bark Tree.
you deserve so many more subscribers! your art is beautiful and this video is so smoothly made. keep it up!
Thank you very much for your kind words!!
How about making the equivalent of gold come from a plant?
As a german I am used to amber and having amber stores in the city. I actually had this in mind for a long time, thanks to bringing this idea up the surface again!
Equivalent how? In terms of it’s beauty? Or in terms of it’s value?
A large part of gold’s value is actually it’s rarity on Earth. But another planet could very well have far more gold than Earth does since in the universe as a whole it’s not particularly rare. A substance of similar beauty to gold but which isn’t rare, wouldn’t have the same value and specialness in the culture. You could have a planet where gold was as common as quartz. Or you could have an amber that was so exceptionally rare, because extracting it is so difficult, that it would be considered as valuable as gold.
Aztecs loved cocoa
@@sophiejones7727 At some point in history spises was more valuebel than gold, as it was hard to get in Europa
I absolutely love this idea! Am worldbuilding a world without access to metals, and this could be very useful.
I am happy that I can see that channel from its start, from first (English) video.
Glad to have you here! Have a fun ride, we have a lot to tell!
This is an awesome video! I am really loving the world of Raja so far, and I dig all the plants mentioned here! They're all so unqiue and interesting! Can't wait to hear more!
Thank you a lot man! There sure will be more. Next video will be about animals. I hope ya'll don't mind the video length because I guess the animal video will.. be longer. :-D
@@weltengeist i'm perfectly fine with long videos, ngl
Okay this inspired me to expand my own worldbuilding project onto UA-cam. Thank you
I love everything about this!!!

The party ain't over yet. :-) Video #3 is in the final drawing stage and will be released in 7-10 days probably.
Probably I wasn't the first to notice it, but the Thullur fruit looks A LOT like a lotus root.
No, you are the first actually haha Do not tell the others. :-D All plants are kind ainspired by real world plants.
Good stuff
Thank you man!
Well this comment section seems wholesome enough! I'm making my first story, and it is set in a world where there are gods (sort of), dragons, spirits, floating islands and giant animals. I genuinely need help with world building
I'd suggest you join the discord so people can help you 🙂
fascinating
OP: 00:00 & END: 16:27
7:25 a Bait tree. the name may have been changed into Baitee or Baichi from people slurring the name (assuming they speak english)
They speak Navurian and since the plant on 7:25 is used as a torch (also underwater) it is something like "Fire under Water" - Tree which would be something like "Javiwanim".
Jav = Fire
Wav = Water
il = under
(Ta)nim = Tree
Jav+Wav+il+Tanim = Javiwanim it would maybe evolve to Javianim? If you are fit with languages let me know, I am totally bad at it otherwise I would made a video already about it. I have some root words and dictionary already prepared as well as basic grammar :-D
I find ir funny how i directly recognized my countries accent, oof
hahayes zhatz right
Wildlife
The Sacktus its a desert plant that stores water in its....sack that grows in twin bulbs at the plant roots bc efficiancy and cactus with logically bullshetable ballsack made me fall off bed laughing in spite of hyperextended wrist and landed on my keys
All the plants are just drugs, lol
