- In this worldbuilding episode we talk about the fantasy religion of Navuria and hopefully I can inspire the one or other on how to worldbuild a religion. If you want how to worldbuilding videos in general, just write it down in the comments, we plan on making more worldbuilding videos soon.
Now you can support the project on Patreon!

Worldbuilding a religion is not easy and my main goal was to take something very boring (like the God of the Sun) and make it a bit interesting.
If you have any questions about worldbuilding for fantasy, worldbuilding in general or the worldbuilding for my fantasy novel, then let me know in the comments!

Tears of Avenal. Don't make the Godess sad and start worshipping better or their Tears will literally destroy everything. :-D

@@weltengeist extreme wealth inequality on a social/religious level. Personally I’d say it’s likely to last for a good while, people forget religion is inherently illogical and when one can use government and a ‘god emperor’ it can last longer. Yes, like Mayans/Aztecs and Egyptians.
Love what ya did with the inspiration btw
This makes me think of Aztecs and Egyptians, where a lot of historians/archeologists reckon that regular people and the ruling class were worshipping different gods/had very different beliefs about those gods.
Nice work. Can't wait to hear about Kinetics in detail after all the little bits you've dropped in other videos so far
Cannot wait to tell you either! Pretty proud of the magic system ngl haha. First we will cover the background of the "Weltengeist concept" which is also the power source for magic after that we will dive into Kinetics.
this art style is cute, it reminds me a lot of Ewa's.
This is just amazing worldbuilding! I adore the idea of this religion!
Thanks a lot for these kind words!
I hope you will enjoy the new art style. Personally I like it and it will allow me to do 2x videos/month, financially and time-wise. (Oh and we have chapters now)

The next video will be about the concept of the "Weltengeist". Be prepared.
Awesome video, great job :D love all the unique beliefs and ceremonies they have! great job to the artist(s?) who worked on this, too!!
Thank you! Means a lot. It is only one artist and I forwarded your comment. Thank you.
I’m rewatching the video right now
Hope you will find it even better now haha
Would you think there would be a mysterious Rebel Human kingdom? A nation that is enemies with Navurua. And maybe bc they worship different God/s they are a symbol of Tanut’s Return.
I actually mentioned them here and there already: The nomadic Rennan kingdoms to the north are the last enemy on the continent, who can equal the Navurian Empire in military strength. The Rennans are more bound to nature and the planet and believe that Avenal is the worst that could happen to the planet and wait for the return of Raja (Tanuds wife) and so Tanud himself. In the next video I will introduce the Moz, in which the real history of the Divine War gets uncovered a bit more.
But there will be a separate video about the Divine War itself, as things are not like I told you guys in the videos so far. All you have done so far is listening and watching Navurian propaganda. 😀
Can't wait!
It is here. :-D
Great video exited too hear more
Late to the party but this is beautiful! Also kinda sad for poor people and their misfortune.
Hi, I really like this religion! I’m running a fantasy rp server on discord, and am in the process of making the religion for an empire and this one you’ve come up with matches perfectly with the kind of society the empire has. May I use aspects of this religion for my server?
If it is nothing commercially or published publicly you can use it
@@weltengeist ♥️♥️♥️
This is an amazing overview of what seems like a very original and exciting religion. I am especially pleased to see how it affects the lives of all, from the wealthy to the less fortunate. It is interesting that strength, power and wealth are valued in this religion as opposed to say, wisdom, piety and mercy. But that is one of the things that makes it feel fresh and different. Well done indeed. You are to be commended.
Thank you!
I am loving your worldbuilding! Hoping to see or read more soon
You can do both in the near future as I am setting up a WorldAnvil as well at the moment :-)
Really cool video! Cant wait so see more of Raja :D
There will be more soon, probably 2 weeks.
@@weltengeist Thats great to hear
Very good video ^^
Thanks!!
Finally a new video ^^
With the new style we will be faster! And we can do more, like 2x a month!
@@weltengeist yessss
Fun, yet horrifying world. I wonder what crime could possibly result in cremation if scorching in the sun is reserved for serious criminals. I imagine something like an attempt on the God Emperor's life and other similar treason could be considered grounds for cremation - especially because it could be seen as depriving Tamud or one of his best warriors, sending him back nought but the embers of a soul. Weirdly I imagine this could result in cremation being its own big ritual, something the crematee is actually respected for in a twisted way - like 'well done you are a strong enemy, but you fucked up really really badly to end up here'
when are you going to do the moz people? (if i speld it correctly)
Thanks for asking! Sadly I have the delay this video like 2-3 months probably (4-6 videos). Why? Because it is complex. There HAVE TO BE some videos before the Moz (Like the Magic system) and some historical events. Otherwise the Moz Video would be 45 Minutes long covering all these in one video. There is a lot of other stuff as well in this world which just needs some videos as kind of "background info" to make things easier to understand.
Gotta love some good religious world building:D
There will be more this year
I love the falling star thing. Also, they would really wear pure gold? Wouldn't that kinda suck? It's heavy and soft iirc...maybe it's an alloy instead? or even just gilded?
Thank you! Yes, the ornamentals would probably gilded or an alloy but jewelry would be massive gold. I am not that well-versed in metallurgy though, sorry but I maybe I will make a video in the future about the raw materials as I wanted them to be a bit different than on earth.
Maybe it is not "real" gold but just a golden-like metal :-)
@@weltengeist ah
Pyrite
Where does all that gold go when sacrificed? Since that is a lot of gold it seems, and it has to go somewhere even when sacrificed
To the temples probably. :-)
Is this a webtoon serie?
It was planned as one last year, but maybe we will make a comic out of it when I start a Kickstarter or something. :-)
Strange. Normaly in sun-centered religions, an eclipse would be seen as a bad omen, since the sun "vanishes" during the day, which is an irregular thing. I would have expected, that the Navurian double their sacrificing efforts and dress up in desperation to appease the "Angered" Goddess. Same outcome, with the priests getting richer/taking advantage of that days. On the other side, them being Chill about it, make that aspect of the world unique.
Also the "being scorched on a religious symbol"-execution-thing. I see an attempt at making a paralell with cruxification, but here the real question. If it is seen as the "natural" order of things, that criminals have to join Tanuth(?) , than why give those the condemmed chance?
Wouldn`t that ( ignoring the eye-sacrifice of dying people ) encourage poor people to become murderers in the simplest sense? Why toil away your whole life, if one "measly" murder, could also "save" you that trouble and gaining an free entry-ticket into her army? Minus the awful death of course.
I mean, unless the religion states, that even the poorest folks, would have an higher rank in the afterlife army, than murderers and criminals, I don`t see the incentive, for the most desperate people. Or easier: What would hinder a poor family, to prop a dying person on a stone-slab/wooden board carved with the goddess symbol and thus letting them die by sun-purification? ( and of thirst of course )
Also by "murder" I assume the killing of humans. Ohterwise every butcher and soldier would develop a crisis of faith, about their existence.
1) it is not said that this is a guaranteed entry in heaven. In christanity for example there is a hell as well, but you could also say "christ died for my sins so i will go to heaven:" basically this torture is the last straw for someone to even have a chance to join the eternal army.
2) And yes murder is a murder for personal gain or out of personal reasons.
Yes I prefer it
You mean the Artstyle?
@@weltengeist Yeah. The vagueness helps elevate the world by allowing me to fill in more blanks according to what looks cooler to me and there's less room for error and immersion breaking
@@odanemcdonald9874 didn't think of this perspective! Thank you! I am glad you like it. The next video should be ready next week.
@@weltengeist I'm still catching up. Hopefully I've caught up by then
@@weltengeist and remember to pronounce 'descendant' and 'ascend' as "dissendant" and "assend"
with the c silent. Keep up the brilliant work
Do atheists exist in your world, and if so, how are they treated by society?
I didn't think of it so far but they would probably silent about it depending on the region they live in.
A monotheistic religion for a goddess? Psh no thanks, hail Tanut!
Hail Tanut!!!
