@SirAustin There's a new 2022 Funny SNSD compilation by ohwoowoo. I hope you can check and react to it. It's a new funny SNSD video compilation just created 7 days ago with an already 604K views 😎. Considering that ohwoowoo only has 2.02K subscribers and it is a video about a "senior" Kpop group, I would say that it's a successful video. Video title is 'it's been 15 years and snsd is still snsd (forever 1 era funny moments)'.
The thing i love about girls' generation is they hit HUGE with gee but instead of milking on that bubblegum trend they changed right away with genie and as time goes by they switched back and forth between the bright and dark concepts on their next releases, so people didn't really have time to "complain" about the concept changes and saw them as a versatile group. That was a huge step to left what made you popular right away (not even in the span of one year) but i'm glad they took that path so people can't box them in certain genre or concept
Girls generation paved the way for a lot of girl groups popularity today. They have never missed in my opinion. Their Japanese releases are insane as well. CMIYC hits me so hard because it was right when Jessica left. I’ll never forget crying in the shower that night when the song came out😂😂
SNSD have debuted in 2007, Genie in 2009 was their first "grown up" concept you could say, Run Devil Run in 2010 is when they went dark and sexy for the first time, so they were pretty flexible from early on. 2011 brought The Boys with the classy queen vibe that many still associate with the group to this day. I Got A Boy from 2013 was a comeback that birthed RV's Zimzalabim and a lot of what aespa are doing now. It was unexpected, polarizing but also outrageously popular (it even won Video of the Year at UA-cam Music Awards). Many think of SNSD as a "cutesy" group just because titles like Gee and Oh! went so big but they were always known as a group who could pull off pretty much anything and not knowing what their next comeback would bring was always a point of attraction with them. That lion in Dear Santa was a reference to Lion Heart btw, the MV they released at the same time with You Think (was a double title). The duality of that release is just yet another illustration on how they didn't really have a cute or a mature stage in their career. They just did everything, convincingly and unapologetically.
Any genre, any concept, SNSD has done and pulled off amazingly. People write them off as a cutesy group because Gee was monstrously popular, but they have probably the most diverse discography compared to other girl groups who have followed their template.
snsd was actually known for not having a set concept! they originally debuted with a more innocent concept, but two years into their career they started exploring a bunch of new sounds (run devil run vs oh!) which was pretty revolutionary and controversial because it was common in second gen for each girl group to have their own distinct genre they were known for. girl crush as a term in kpop started with 2ne1! they were the first girl group that had an eccentric, strong image so a lot of early 3rd gen groups in 2012-14 debuted with girl crush concepts. examples i can think of are evol (fun fact, the leader of evol was saay), d-unit, g.i, and glamm.
you know what, i had the same notion about girl's generation before. at the time i became a kpop fan back in 2009, i was more interested in 2ne1 so i never really paid that much attention to GG but i did listen to their songs. my initial perception of GG was that they release majorly cute concepts but looking at their discography now, they have a wide variety of concept under their belt. it's just that their cute concept were more popular in korea so ultimately they would be marketed with those songs (e.g gee, genie and oh) but in reality they have always been versatile with their releases concept wise. btw about your question about the first girl crush group, it was 2ne1. back then girl groups were big on cute concept as their local audience prefer those. since then many other girl groups like 4minute, snsd, kara and now blackpink and other recent groups can now branch out to other concepts. nice reaction btw!
One of the best lyricist in SK said their lyrics and discography fits their age within each comeback. I think that’s the beauty of it all. To continue doing what you love with the change happening with you within the passage of time.
Yes, Girls Gen was the IT girl group about a dozen years ago! Some great performances like on Jeju Island and roof tops (a Genie performance), and at a fantastic Japan concert about 10 yrs back. Frankly I liked most of their early music up to whatever first song title that had the word "Boys" in it (performed on the Letterman show). Loved Gee, Hoot, and Into the New World, debut of course! Learned all 9 names (a practice for Loona), and theirs was the 1st Kpop album I bought. Check out all their work. True talent, especially Tayeon!
Genie is the best girl group title track honestly, it has passed a lot of years yet it still hasn’t be topped. Queens Also yeah most old sm videos were mainly performance videos they were used to be called sm box mvs lol Catch me if you can is technically a Japanese single but they had Korean version of it
Genie is a killer song live, because it is easy for the audience participate. In all the live SNSD concerts I've seen, the audience is losing their minds for Genie. If they ever tour in the US again, I'll travel a long distance to see SNSD. I started with Kpop in 2017, too late to see them live. And there's a completely English version of "Dear Santa" out there, if you want to do a re-watch. That's a Simon Petrin-Andreas Oberg song, which you can tell by the chord progressions and the vocal melody. And "girl crush" was Kpop's solution to the spiraling dead end that was the "sexy" concept. There's only so sexy you can go before being banned, but girl crush is capable of being restyled again and again. In the 2nd gen, you have groups like 2NE1, f(x), Brown Eyed Girls, and probably more I'm forgetting. I think you are correct though that Blackpink was girl crush jet fuel. I'm a Blink, so I might be a little biased on that.
"Genie" is just iconic. It's actually from 2009, the comeback after "Gee", and I want to say it's the K-pop song that created the idea of "concepts" for songs, with its legendary sailor/navy outfit concept that other girl groups didn't touch for years iirc ;o 3:06 Yes that's Sooyoung's iconic short hair from this era, one of my faves on her XD 3:50 Yes, SM does have its great vocal training, and SNSD has a 5-member vocal line to boot. They just don't make groups like that anymore tbh 4:35 Yup that's Hyoyeon's moment to get her dance break on, they sadly never showcase her true dancing abilities but that's still one of her spotlight moments ;o "Catch Me If You Can" was a simultaneous release of Korean and Japanese versions, and it was the first comeback without Jessica :( If you're fond of Jessica, like me, there's a leaked OT9 version of the Japanese MV out there so you can see the line distribution, and she slayed! But other members who picked up her lines also slayed, like Sooyoung. Actually, Sooyoung tends to cover for Jessica's lines in older songs because her voice does have a light tone to it similar to Jessica's :o 9:06 Yeah, this song is a pretty different vibe from SNSD's usual lighter pop songs, as this leans much more heavily into hard EDM/dubstep which was popular at that time (like T-ara "Sugar Free" and SHINee "Everybody"). But their Japanese songs do lean a bit more into that harder electronic synth sound too, actually ;o And yeah, "The Boys" was also very different, but it was meant to represent SNSD's growth from dominating Korea toward international markets, hence they had Teddy Riley produce the song and they put the album into a USA release too ;o 11:00 Technically, this was Jessica's part XP But that still stands, Taeyeon pops off in like every SNSD song LOL "You Think" is definitely an experience lol. Not my favourite SNSD song but I can respect the confidence. Also, Seohyun snapped and said "I'm not your Seo-baby the maknae anymore" XD 13:40 Well, after "Into the New World", they had their cover of "Girls' Generation", plus "Baby Baby" and "Kissing You" and then "Gee". Then "Genie" had a bit more edge. In general, K-pop was shifting a bit in 2009-2010 from pure cutesy to having a bit more "female charm" you could say. And then it's around 2012-2013 that the more mature and sexy concepts started to appear. 14:15 That's our Seohyun haha I think the lion in "Dear Santa" is a reference to "Lion Heart" :o
Hello.. Well yes HYOYEON is their main dancer and main rapper.. Genie was released on 2009.. CMIYC was released both in japanese and Korean.. Jessica was supposed to be part of it but that thing happened.. Girls' Generation is capable of anything.. They actually dont have a fixed concept cause they did everything..
Love this! I always love seeing genuine first reactions to SNSD but especially from someone who is already a little familiar with them from early on (I feel like that kinda follows my own original Girls Gen journey). Hope you check out more! Btw you were right the second time: 15:55 is Tiffany. The first one with the orange hair and the splits is the maknae, Seohyun. Both are incredible vocalists.
The outfits in Genie are a reference to the show I Dream of Jeannie from the 60's, the male lead was an air force pilot. Or astronaut. Or something. I only know about it via osmosis, my mom watched a lot of reruns.
For me, the best kpop era is when girls generation active. They really like to experiment different genres, musics and concepts. From sweet cringe Gee to badass U Think to mature seductive Lion Heart. My only kpop girl group till now..and now soloist Taeyeon continue the legacy of SNSD.
Their song is timeless, I listening to many kpop group songs but SNSD is like my home because their song still pleasing to ears that makes not you bored to listen. They are the blueprint of 3rd and 4th Generation. I would like you to listen to F(x) songs too, they are the experimental girls that represent teen crush
SNSD are def one of the most versatile groups in kpop. They've done about almost every concept out there. There's a lot for you to discover about them, for sure. I would recommend you check their debut stage, never seen such an amazing performance in terms of both vocals and dance for a rookie.
If you listen to Forever1 album(this year album) they did pretty good job showing versitality of their discography, it has it all. Forever1 beeing new ITNW to new Run Devil Run there and a lot of beautiful songs in general. You will like Villain as a lot of fans who like dark Soshi vibes. So must listen, its like a top album of this year.
SNSD is the group that got me into Kpop. They were so versatile and always seemed to pull of concepts so well, add that the girls themselves were so well rounded - it was hard not to get sucked in haha.
When he said 'I don't expect them to be capable of that' i was like 'Bro, you don't know them enough. They're like the most versatile and capable set of women out there'. 😁
The lion in Dear Santa is a reference to their song and video for "Lion Heart." That is also the song that Sooyoung referenced on Knowing Bros for the wide leg move.
Genie is the born of the most meaningful kpop fandom ever made, SONE. SONE (SNSD ONE) its pronounce Sowon which mean wish in korean, reference to lyric from Genie (tell me your wish)
Girls generation was one of the most interesting girl groups at the time because they changed so much of their music with different ideas that you're had a variety on each album no matter what you picked there was always something for someone else to listen to kind of idea which is always cool when music can do that for the general public everybody has their favorite albums everybody has their not so favorite albums and songs I'm glad you're enjoying girls generation
14:09 the runs of Maknae Seohyun you mentioned... She is the one who is hitting the high note "your not" in the background with Tiffany and Maknae Seohyun was the one who split... Also she is part of the subunit TTS (TaeTiSeo) Taeyon, Tiffany and Maknae Seohyun 💖💗❤️🥰 Dear Santa also has a English version and the lion in the MV is referenced from their song Lion heart😊 also do please react to their other TTS songs and covers also their solos like Maknae Seohyun Don't say no🙏🤩
SNSD can do ANYTHING😂cute concept, girl crush concept, sexy concept, and natural born comedian too😂😂😂😂i've been a SONE for a decade now😆they are the first kpop group that i stan, and they reason why i'm into kpop😆
I remember some performances TaeYeon getting praised for her highnotes but sometimes her vocals were actually supported by SeoHyun, Tiffany, or Jessica and they'd just cut away from them so you only saw TaeYeon singing.
@@KpopPrince I suppose it would seem odd out of context 🤣 well even with context it's odd! You should check it out it's a pretty good song and the music video is probably their best I would say. It's quite funny! Released at the same time as you think!
The Lion is from the Lion Heart video which also came out in 2015 before Dear Santa, which is TTS (Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun) only. TTS started back in 2012. There is also a fully English version of the song. It's about the only time other than the English version of "The Boys". I honestly feel you are missing some of their best music if you don't check out their 3 main Japanese albums. I think you'll enjoy those even more.
OF COURSE THEY ARE MORE THAN CAPABLE Coz THEY ARE GIRLS GENERATION!!!!! They are queens and legends! FROM GEE TO IGAB and back to a sweet state of Lion heart and then kill it with You think all at the same time! Come on boy u better watch those u won't have any regret...🤘🏻my very first kpop band and the only one in my heart ❤️✨ Sone forevaaaa✨
I'd love for you to react to "oh" and "run devil run" back to back, since they were released at the same time. They decided to be a versatile group pretty early on.
CMIYC let me feel so shocking in 2015, that's a so new concept for girl group ! TTS(Taeyeon Tiffany Seohyun), one of the best sub-unit ever !!! React to their other songs "Twinkle" & "Holler" !
Oh what a treat! I hope the snsd requests keep coming in because snsd discography and MVs are just so classic and fun to watch even if some songs may not be to your taste haha. Also they had a lot of songs between genie and catch me if you can so I woudnt say the shift was very drastic and they also return to their poppier songs every now and then after those heavier releases. As for OG girl crush idk but I’m gonna have to say 2ne1. At the time that they came out, a lot of the ggs were very much cute, pink and sparkly and 2ne1 rly set the course for much more harder concepts for ggs. You had a lot more girl crush concepts from ggs after 2ne1 came out. If we’re talking sexy, then I say brown eyed girls paved the way for that hahaha
Not 2010. That was Oh. Genie came out in the Summer of 2009, just 6 months after Gee, just as most of the members were turning "21" Korean age. Their iconic outfits were known as the "Marine Girl" look and it's still probably my all time favorite song of theirs, especially for Taeyeon's vocal adlib at the end. My first "exposure" was their Japanese version of this song, which was incidentally their first Japanese single. I've been down the K-pop Rabbit hole ever since.
Same. YOU THINK i think is so good that for me it would fit in todays era although my biggest fave was Genie esp the Japanese one and bcoz they served it with different genre Hahhaa thanks for this reaction DEAR SANTA, MY SONG ON REPEAT EVERY CHRISTMAS 🎅😊
SNSD among many other things they did right (countless things) two things they did to be on top for so many years and then stay relevant for even more was: number 1, to push changes in kpop and be the pioneers of those changes; and number 2, if they weren't the first they made whatever direction kpop was moving their own. Yes Girl Crush was something more associated with BEG, and 2ne1 But SNSD just said "OK, I see people like that now, let me show you how we do it". SNSD's "Girl Crush" (as much as I hate that concept) is as good as any group known for only doing that aesthetic or concept. SNSD could do anything and people never complained because their brand was Quality and Talent so whatever they did was done in the SNSD way
Snsd is always ahead of their time. By the time "You Think" was released it was criticized for being too racy/sexy but then look at the songs today. Same with "I Got a Boy" which they think is too experimental at their time. 😅
CMIYC was actually a Japanese release, and their JPN stuff is more EDM/Dance oriented, the KOR version was just a gift at the time. You Think was a double title track, the other being Lion Heart, and also Party being released a little earlier. You missed A LOT of videos between Genie and CMIYC, so you didn't really see their evolution, including their JPN stuff. I Got a Boy was famous for being one of the first songs that was like 3 songs in one that SM does a lot now, so you should definitely look at that one. Dear Santa was done by the subunit TTS (Tiffany, Taeyeon, Seohyun), which had a bunch of hits as well, they were more vocal focused, and essentially had the strongest vocalists in the group, except for Jessica.
Hello, I really enjoy watching you reactions to girls' generation. I'm sure you've been told this a lot in the comments, but I think given your taste and like for 'You Think,' you might be more suited to their Japanese discography. Although, also versatile, there are more of those edgier, mature tracks, however not as many MVs for them, but I always recommend their 2011 MTV Japan Aid with 'The Great Escape' and 'Mr. Taxi.' Also, I recommend seeing a live performance of 'Bad Girl' instead of just the MV as the quality was poor and SM have yet to update it. The energy they have during lives of that song is amazing. While I would love to see a reaction to them, I'm sure you know you don't have to, but you'll be surprised even if you watch them on your own time. Thank you and sorry to talk so much.
The basic part about SNSD are they're the trendsetter, queen of concept and paved the way for girl group also they had no flop songs from Korean, Japanese, Christmas song and sub unit song..just by this fact you should already know how legendary they're
Genie remains as my favorite snsd song Also P1harmony recently had a comeback titled back down, the mv is very fun and the choreo it's their hardest so far, if you have time you should definetly check it out
Bro how did you not know SNSD is one of the most versatile groups in kpop history. They are known for killing any style or concept. Check out their Japanese discography
Girls generation did everything at a perfect time in their career. If you ask me who did girl crush 1st among girl groups that would be Brown eyed girls and 2ne1
You should check their japanese discography!! There’s a lot of songs that I’m sure you’ll love! 💖 If you like more of these girl crush/mature side you’ll love songs like Animal, T.O.P, Reflection, Flower Power, Karma Butterfly, Beautiful Stranger, Bad Girl, You-Aholic, I’m in love with the hero… and so many more. Their Japanese discography is literally pop perfection!!!!!!! 💞💞💞 You should definitely check the live performances of these songs if you can. I GUARANTEE you that you’ll drop your mouth! Hahah ❣️
There's a new 2022 Funny SNSD compilation by ohwoowoo. I hope you can check and react to it. It's a new funny SNSD video compilation just created 7 days ago with an already 604K views 😎. Well said Sir Austin🤌🏾✨️
@SirAustin that’s right
KpopPrince: “I didn’t know Girls Generation is capable of a song like that.”
Kpop Industry: Girls Generation is capable of ANYTHING.
This EDM side of snsd is more explored on Japanese albuns, and they are not on spotify 😢

SNSD/Girls' Generation's concept is VERSATILITY 😎.

The Nation's Girl Group everyone 👑

In "You Think" Tiffany was the first person to open the song. The run you really liked was by Seohyun. "Dear Santa" was the TaeTiSeo subunit.
Queen of KPOP Girlband for all time for me

Thank for reacting to our Queens
I'd say that the original girl crush group was 2NE1! Defenitely worth checking out 🖤
14:17 was Seohyun not Tiffany....TTS (Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun) is the vocal line of snsd..including sunny
SNSD can do any concept you throw to them. facts.. They are the concept queens and they dont stick to 1 concept. It is not on their dictionary
you should definitely check their song "villain" , it's from their last album .
Hello? They are Girls' Gen, they dont stick to 1 genre and concept to stay relevant. They are concept QUEENS.
For me, the best kpop era is when girls generation active. They really like to experiment different genres, musics and concepts. From sweet cringe Gee to badass U Think to mature seductive Lion Heart. My only kpop girl group till now..and now soloist Taeyeon continue the legacy of SNSD.
About SNSD's concepts... Taeyeon said that she had an identity crisis as a group since they did so many concepts 😅
They are the NATIONS GIRL GROUP FOR A REASON
It’s the time for discover more SNSD and TTS!!

They really killed all concepts. period.
Dear Santa was TTS christmas album so there is some variety in song vibes in there too
SNSD is the group that got me into Kpop.
Girls generation was one of the most interesting girl groups at the time because they changed so much of their music with different ideas that you're had a variety on each album no matter what you picked there was always something for someone else to listen to kind of idea which is always cool when music can do that for the general public everybody has their favorite albums everybody has their not so favorite albums and songs I'm glad you're enjoying girls generation
they're can't be replace forever 😩 the real queens of kpop❤️
14:09 the runs of Maknae Seohyun you mentioned... She is the one who is hitting the high note "your not" in the background with Tiffany and Maknae Seohyun was the one who split... Also she is part of the subunit TTS (TaeTiSeo) Taeyon, Tiffany and Maknae Seohyun 💖💗❤️🥰 Dear Santa also has a English version and the lion in the MV is referenced from their song Lion heart😊 also do please react to their other TTS songs and covers also their solos like Maknae Seohyun Don't say no🙏🤩
Girl crush concept was started by 2ne1 while 4minute popularized it in Korean and blackpink introduced it globally.
SNSD can do ANYTHING😂cute concept, girl crush concept, sexy concept, and natural born comedian too😂😂😂😂i've been a SONE for a decade now😆they are the first kpop group that i stan, and they reason why i'm into kpop😆
I will never get how You think and lion heart were on one album and how they performed that back to back
I remember some performances TaeYeon getting praised for her highnotes but sometimes her vocals were actually supported by SeoHyun, Tiffany, or Jessica and they'd just cut away from them so you only saw TaeYeon singing.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it but the lion is a reference to the lion heart music video!
Okay that makes much more sense now 😅
@@KpopPrince I suppose it would seem odd out of context 🤣 well even with context it's odd!
Sizzyyy…
Girls’ Generation is a LEGENDARY GROUP. They can do it ALL.
You'll understand why there is a lion after you watch a MV for a certain song :)
I love Girls Generation so much 🖤🖤
genie was a BIGGEST bop in these years
Another comment about the dance line is Hyoyeon, Sooyoung and Yuri, but Hyoyeon is the main dancer
Seohyun is also part of the dance line but doesnt have dance position
You have to watch these live....so much better
14:20 "Was that Tiffany?" No, that was Seohyun, showing why she deserved to be the third leg of the TTS subunit.
You’ll love the English version of Dear Santa!
CMIYC let me feel so shocking in 2015, that's a so new concept for girl group !
TTS(Taeyeon Tiffany Seohyun), one of the best sub-unit ever !!!
React to their other songs "Twinkle" & "Holler" !
18:16 Yes, 4Minute was important for the implementation of the girlcrush concept. But 2NE1 probably had a greater influence wordwide.
Genie was released on 2009, I was hooked by Girl's Generation since 2009 because of Genie...just fyi...😁
The one and only, The original South Korea's Nation's GG(Girls Generation)
And in 2015 they look tough but decided to be everyone becomes Visual Goddesses with Lionheart
You should DM Taeyeon your CVS receipt sometime and ask her to read it back on her UA-cam vlog so all the SONE's can cherish the ASMR.
It would take her 45 minutes to get through!
Try Genie live at Madison Square Garden. Also, Best Live at Tokyo Dome, 2015, Great Escape followed by Animal and Hoot. Thanks, also You Think mv
How I describe Girls Generation--> Limitless
Same. YOU THINK i think is so good that for me it would fit in todays era although my biggest fave was Genie esp the Japanese one and bcoz they served it with different genre Hahhaa thanks for this reaction
DEAR SANTA, MY SONG ON REPEAT EVERY CHRISTMAS 🎅😊
Forever Queen❤
2ne1 along with 4minute were definitely the first to feel like girl crush, they both debuted in 2009
SNSD among many other things they did right (countless things) two things they did to be on top for so many years and then stay relevant for even more was: number 1, to push changes in kpop and be the pioneers of those changes; and number 2, if they weren't the first they made whatever direction kpop was moving their own. Yes Girl Crush was something more associated with BEG, and 2ne1 But SNSD just said "OK, I see people like that now, let me show you how we do it". SNSD's "Girl Crush" (as much as I hate that concept) is as good as any group known for only doing that aesthetic or concept. SNSD could do anything and people never complained because their brand was Quality and Talent so whatever they did was done in the SNSD way
Legend girl group🔥🙌🏻💖
Girls Generation💗
Waiting for GG & Taeyeon solo stuff !❤
Also Taeyeon not only soloist, check out Tiffany debut album 2016 , Seohyon debut, and Hyoyeon debut. Sorry I didn’t watch whole video for You Think.
Genie remains as my favorite snsd song
Also P1harmony recently had a comeback titled back down, the mv is very fun and the choreo it's their hardest so far, if you have time you should definetly check it out
Bro how did you not know SNSD is one of the most versatile groups in kpop history. They are known for killing any style or concept. Check out their Japanese discography
Girls generation did everything at a perfect time in their career.
If you ask me who did girl crush 1st among girl groups that would be Brown eyed girls and 2ne1
The Lion Santa is from Lion Heart MV c:
TT S best sub unit in kpop! Some of us obsessed with Tiffany! Her voice, so unique for kpop. Check out her solo music too please. ❤️
dear santa had an official English version~just want to let you know~
I love TTS Dear santa English version
QUEENS~!
that lion in dear santa has a history with the girls 😂 you will understand if you watch lion heart mv
Hahah ❣️
SJJD has always had that EDM influence. Check out their Japanese release. It'll all make sense
You should react to their Check performance
There is 6 years btw genie and you think
Hold up, hold up, listen to me: wanna be more amazed by their versatility? Check “Mr.Mr., Hoot, The Boys, Flower Power”
Love the snsd reactions
I do recommend you react to taeyeons this Christmas mv since its the month for it
i'm offended when you said little know girl group girls generation, but its okay at least they paved the way for todays girl group
Genie was from 2009 actually
Rainhas 👸
There's a new 2022 Funny SNSD compilation by ohwoowoo. I hope you can check and react to it.
It's a new funny SNSD video compilation just created 7 days ago with an already 604K views 😎. Considering that ohwoowoo only has 2.02K subscribers and it is a video about a "senior" Kpop group, I would say that it's a successful video.
Video title is 'it's been 15 years and snsd is still snsd (forever 1 era funny moments)'
C'mon...They paved the way for all groups to follow
