Im going to Ontario later this year and I have significant anxiety about crossing the boarder as I have never left America. this helps me a lot. thatnks.
Just be honest dont panic and answer the officer’s questions and you will be fine! I know it can be stressful but you’ll see you have nothing to worry about
My nerves are like gelatin. I was nervous about crossing the border for the first time in 14 years last August, so much so I failed to see a sign at the border checkpoint and the customs officer noticed. This was also the first time I crossed the border by myself. He questioned me and I was shaking inside. Thankfully, everything went well and I had a great time. Looking forward to going back into Canada for some great sightseeing this August.
I've been to Canada a few times. I went though with an enhanced drivers license (I should really get a passport, but the EDL is still worth it if you can get one). Border security looks more intimidating than it actually is. Just be polite, answer their questions, don't be chatty and say more than you need and it takes like 30 seconds tops.
@@geftiler2112 Yep. It went downhill starting in 2015. I started noticing signs of it in 2011/2012. 2009 and under was when this country was still somewhat normal.
What a breeze. I drive back and forth doing deliveries and take the truck lanes. Its usually a quick stop unless there's a foul up with the paperwork to clear the freight. On time, and its rare I had to wait overnight at the Canada side for the paperwork snag to be solved.

I just went to Montreal from NY , 1-87 .. it was about a 30-40 min wait going and coming back. They ask for a passport and valid ID for each passenger. They asked where I was going...if I had any guns in my car and asked how I knew my passengers. They asked coming back from Canada if I bought anything in Canada... they also asked about my car , if it was mine and asked about my tags.
The guy asked me if i was bringing across food, then asked what kind and when i told him a couple pre cooked meals he told me to pop the trunk and went through everything. Opened my cooler, and took my eggs. Apparently you can't take eggs across the border. Common sense told me bird-flu was the reason, which is stupid. They are eggs... eggs im taking to a camp site and cooking.
They asked me about that .. but I had a Temp Tag on my new pickup truck as I bought it appx 60 days before crossing the border , but my tag was not expired yet... They asked where did I buy it and why I didn't permanent Plates (I had a paper plate on my back) .. so I guess they have camera when you pull up that shows the cars back end.@@cassandramoreno8374
