to be fair this was before the guy was posting shots from the super bowl claiming the commercials were shot with his filters when they were not. but i think most of the los angeles directors blasted that on instagram so he removed it when he got busted. any time man, i would suggest checking out cinepacks, they saw this and offered to replace my filters.
I just tried ordering a starburst filter with them and had a similar experience. Great Marketing & Terrible customer service. All of these SFX filters are available from other brands. Kase & Freewell will provide Diopters, Starburst, and Prism filters at the same cost.
@@AfroReactions absolutely - you should try out cinepacks stuff, way cheaper. There’s options on alie express but I am using the new vaxis setup since I have all tilta matte boxes, the magnetic rings are so easy
I bought my filter from a small business in VA called SZ Filters, and I loved their service; they even suggested filters based on my style. Give companies based in the USA a chance. Thanks for your video; it reaffirms my decision not to buy from Prism Lens. I also had a bad experience with a pre-order purchase. I'll check my emails

I stumbled upon your video after being interested in these products, thank you for your bold honesty and for reminding businesses that they can't just behave like this and not be called out for it. I never understand people who make fools of themselves over email or messages and somehow forget that all of that is in writing and can be used as evidence of poor business practices (or other general ridiculousness). Glad it was helpful! there are far more complaints from other customers that have come forward, there's a page i believe on both fb and instagram called prism lens fx reviews, and it's real posts from people that voiced their problems receiving items etc. even one of the girls in the original ad - that footage was used without her consent, they lied to her about a test shoot and then wouldn't even give her some filters as compensation. but regardless, they source their filters from alie express, and just slap their name on them and up charge tf out of it. i'd try cinepacks, or vaxis vfx has a dope magnetic system i should do a video about it's very convenient.

Your video confirmed a lot for me. I went with Tiffen over Prism FX and wondered if I missed out on something but I’m glad I spent the extra money. And you’re right, their filters do look a bit “eh” and you never see any new project on their pages just screen grabs of old stuff
that's what i mean, and another subscriber had linked a page from some generic site i think in china where these are being sold - he's quite possibly just slapping his label on filters you're really only paying $20 for.

@@SHVWNCOOPER So the filter arrived. Bit of an up and down with the shipping but that was on the part of UPS, but it did arrive safe and sound. Put the filter on my Red Komodo and it was as advertised. I love it so far though. No complaints. Thankfully my experience went well. 👌🏿

This definitely put a much deserved dent to his profits but so many ppl came forward with stories of how he’s a con artist etc - even the girl IN the prism lens fx commercials: he didn’t pay her for using her, and refused to even give her a set of filters for the free video he weaseled out of her. Super Bowl time he was posting other directors work on his instagram saying it was his and shot with these filters and well that backfired instantly. Biggest tip I can give for dealing with mfs like this is watch how you deal with ppl on the internet - sooner or later he and I will be in the same room together and there will be cameras rolling I’ll make damn sure of it.
New sub, I appreciate you won't be bought! Integrity! Been getting ads from Prism FX. I'm in the market for a kaleidoscope filter. I'm now leaning towards Tide Optics for a budget one (under €50). I can't really justify paying more for a lens I might use once for a shoot coming up. However, it it turns out well, I'll consider upgrading. But, the chromatic flare was really tickling my fancy. Yes! This! Thank you! I wish I had looked at reviews on UA-cam before impulse purchasing from them. My package was lost in transit and they're refusing to issue me a refund by way of ignoring my emails completely.
My experience with them was terrible. One of their filters broke at a wedding and shattered, because it did not work as advertised, slipped off the handle and almost cut a bride, apparently it was not super glued hard enough to the base. Contacted him for a replacement and I got such a warm time from them and him about it. It took them 8 weeks to replace my broken filter, and he was mad rude about it. I just wash I had sued for it.

I got a couple as a gift and loved them. You're right about the Starburst filter and chromatic for sure. The linear prism and kaleidoscope are dope. I have a bunch of their filters but The thing that kills me about them is that they advertise a TON of new products then they have them all on backorder for 12 WEEKS. I've gotten my refund from them on back ordered items but it still took forever. 🙃 I don't know why they even advertise them when they don't have them in stock at all. That and they only share work from like 6 different photogs even though they have a place for people to submit work. I don't even wanna know what it's like to book one of JO's studios...
Because they're getting them from aliexpress in china, have to redo logos, etc. I just ordered one from there to do the comparison follow-up video. in the meantime, shanel has done this same crap to several others throughout the comment section here. I really wish I had seen this video before I purchased with them. I got the dream filter and took a few test shots and was sort of surprised I didn't really see any difference. I'm going to have to continue testing further but hopefully I can get some use out of it. 😒
Sorry to hear that - they dont' accept returns but the polar pro mist II is really nice, i like that. and cinepacks has a dream filter. these ones from prism lens fx are marketed with several of those STACKED to get that effect. they lied.

THAT no return policy is actually a violation of the visa/MasterCard agreement, they can't do that. if you have any issues with that, call your bank. but in the future, just make sure you order even with a visa or mc debit card cuz your purchases are protected. they'll yank that money right back so fast. i really don't know how he's even still in business selling these things. if you read thru the comments, no one is happy. i found an entire review page on Instagram that's juts one nightmare after another. the filters i did get from him the one filament just broke and i only ever used it once. so annoyed.

i'd go with cinepacks, and then i ordred some off aliexpress to test out, i got the 150mm half kaleidoscope. i like that much better i think the full one is just way too much, and it's so overused. now everyone associates it with this scam of a brand. go onto alie express and you'll see how much prism lens fx is upcharging for this stuff. and why its' been backordered so long. they're rebranding items off a chinese site.

A friend of mine had the kaleidoscope filter, it was definitely a kaleidoscope. I've been interested in this companies products for a long time, but there was always something that felt off. Reviews on their site looked fake, and there are hardly any actual reviews on youtube. After watching this video I'm most likely stay away...

those ones unfortunately you really won't see much of a noticeable difference if you don't stack them. the polar pro mist one is dope, and cinepacks just came out with a multpack dream filter set for this reason.
@@joaoluis4039 I actually liked them! They felt soft and dreamy but I will say that I’d recommend trying the cheaper lens filters that you can find on Ali baba or Amazon first. They’re much more cost effective and will give you an idea of whether this is actually a look you enjoy. You might end up being satisfied with them and decide you don’t need to drop so much money on something more expensive.

Then posting videos about being millionaires when I’m owed a $25 filter from Alie express that I overpaid $80 for. I used to work for Sephora's Logistics department, coordinating deliveries during the construction and development of brand new stores or relocations and the claim is NEVER filed by the recipient. A complaint can be though, to issue an alert to the shipper/seller to investigate and then file a claim. Crazy how people move in this world. I'm sure within that million he's made, there are some horror stories of people that got screwed wrongfully. Continue to stay safe and smart. I really appreciate you for putting this video up.

I realized that it does what I presume the soft filter is supposed to do, as it makes everything slightly softer and lifts the blacks a teeny bit. it's against the visa / mc cardholder agreement from their merchant service provider to refuse refunds and returns. call your bank, file a chargeback, there's options with every bank. that's the same jerk i had issues with, she lied, and you see how she reacted when i pointed it out. after speaking with ups it was bc she didn't actually add package insurance. you're in control of this trust me. he did try to fight my chargeback tho, the nerve. i still won. then he filed copyright protection against this video, and i won again.

This definitely put a much deserved dent to his profits but so many ppl came forward with stories of how he’s a con artist etc - even the girl IN the prism lens fx commercials: he didn’t pay her for using her, and refused to even give her a set of filters for the free video he weaseled out of her. Super Bowl time he was posting other directors work on his instagram saying it was his and shot with these filters and well that backfired instantly. Biggest tip I can give for dealing with mfs like this is watch how you deal with ppl on the internet - sooner or later he and I will be in the same room together and there will be cameras rolling I’ll make damn sure of it.

Been getting ads from Prism FX. I'm in the market for a kaleidoscope filter. I'm now leaning towards Tide Optics for a budget one (under €50). I can't really justify paying more for a lens I might use once for a shoot coming up. However, it it turns out well, I'll consider upgrading. But, the chromatic flare was really tickling my fancy.

My experience with them was terrible. One of their filters broke at a wedding and shattered, because it did not work as advertised, slipped off the handle and almost cut a bride, apparently it was not super glued hard enough to the base.
Contacted him for a replacement and I got such a warm time from them and him about it. It took them 8 weeks to replace my broken filter, and he was mad rude about it.
I just wash I had sued for it.

I got a couple as a gift and loved them. You're right about the Starburst filter and chromatic for sure. The linear prism and kaleidoscope are dope. I have a bunch of their filters but The thing that kills me about them is that they advertise a TON of new products then they have them all on backorder for 12 WEEKS. I've gotten my refund from them on back ordered items but it still took forever. 🙃 I don't know why they even advertise them when they don't have them in stock at all. That and they only share work from like 6 different photogs even though they have a place for people to submit work. I don't even wanna know what it's like to book one of JO's studios...
Because they're getting them from aliexpress in china, have to redo logos, etc. I just ordered one from there to do the comparison follow-up video. in the meantime, shanel has done this same crap to several others throughout the comment section here. I really wish I had seen this video before I purchased with them. I got the dream filter and took a few test shots and was sort of surprised I didn't really see any difference. I'm going to have to continue testing further but hopefully I can get some use out of it. 😒
Sorry to hear that - they dont' accept returns but the polar pro mist II is really nice, i like that. and cinepacks has a dream filter. these ones from prism lens fx are marketed with several of those STACKED to get that effect. they lied.
I prefer using plugins and having control afterwards, there are some same products much cheaper on Amazon.. for like 19.00 instead of 75.00

What focal lengths were you using with these filters? And what aperture? In my experience it’s gotta be medium or long focal length f2.8 and below.
50mm 1.4. they at least tell you it doesn't really work above a 2.8 in their instructions tho

THAT no return policy is actually a violation of the visa/MasterCard agreement, they can't do that. if you have any issues with that, call your bank. but in the future, just make sure you order even with a visa or mc debit card cuz your purchases are protected. they'll yank that money right back so fast.
i really don't know how he's even still in business selling these things. if you read thru the comments, no one is happy. i found an entire review page on Instagram that's juts one nightmare after another. the filters i did get from him the one filament just broke and i only ever used it once. so annoyed.

A friend of mine had the kaleidoscope filter, it was definitely a kaleidoscope. I've been interested in this companies products for a long time, but there was always something that felt off. Reviews on their site looked fake, and there are hardly any actual reviews on youtube. After watching this video I'm most likely stay away...

those ones unfortunately you really won't see much of a noticeable difference if you don't stack them. the polar pro mist one is dope, and cinepacks just came out with a multpack dream filter set for this reason.

@@joaoluis4039 I actually liked them! They felt soft and dreamy but I will say that I’d recommend trying the cheaper lens filters that you can find on Ali baba or Amazon first. They’re much more cost effective and will give you an idea of whether this is actually a look you enjoy. You might end up being satisfied with them and decide you don’t need to drop so much money on something more expensive.

For me, I took it personally when there was so much resistance in just giving me what I PAID for. Then posting videos about being millionaires when I’m owed a $25 filter from Alie express that I overpaid $80 for. Threatening to “blast” me on the internet was only going to go one way - towards the long list of unhappy customers communicating. There’s an ig account that just followed recently has pages worth of incidents worse than this

I used to work for Sephora's Logistics department, coordinating deliveries during the construction and development of brand new stores or relocations and the claim is NEVER filed by the recipient. A complaint can be though, to issue an alert to the shipper/seller to investigate and then file a claim. Crazy how people move in this world. @@SHVWNCOOPER yeah, I got the 5 and the 10 from them. The 10 is great and when it's not enough, I stack on the 5 with it. 15% is the perfect amount in so many situations. I also really prefer the glimmerglass.

I realized that it does what I presume the soft filter is supposed to do, as it makes everything slightly softer and lifts the blacks a teeny bit. I do like the effect, but definitely not what I paid for. There's absolutely no halation what so ever.
