Just discovered halloween villages and I'm so inspired by your tutorials and grateful for your videos! I bought the halloween pieces but need to now work on details like this. Thank you!
Thanks, always enjoy your tutorial series. Here's hoping you consider a giveaway or allow your subscribers to bid on this or another one of your future display bases. You're running out of room, LOL.
Looking great so far. I’m happy you took my suggestion on the stairs. I think it worked out good. I’m sure they will look perfect once you give it more details. I like that $10 curve tool.
Your displays are out of this world! In another comment you mentioned that you purchased a separate power supply, I’m ordering mine now. You’re such an inspiration, thank you!
So detailed and helpful as ever, Carl. I love Hazel's Haunted House, too. My first D56 Halloween piece. I hadn't yet realized the difference between their "silver" series, but to me the house is perfect, and Hazel is great with the ghostly hues.
Hi Carl. Thanks so much for the wonderful details. I’m following all your steps to create my first Halloween village. I ordered from hot wire foam factory but the wire is so thin it won’t hold its shape to make the stairs. Can you tell me what I need to order. Thanks so much. Kim
Hey there! Glad you’re taking the plunge into this amazing hobby! Go to this website: hotwirefoamfactory.com/home.php And then search for Freehand Router #18-that should work with a thicker wire.
Hi Carl, first off great videos, we started our village last week. For the stairs what gauge wire is that you are using? Ours that came with the kit is very small and flimsy. This makes it hard to form and remain in the needed shape.
Hey there! For the stairs, I use the Freehand Router from Hot Wire Foam Factory-nothing better in my opinion. See the link below: hotwirefoamfactory.com/home.php
can you tell me how wide you made your sidewalk, please and thank you! I know the height is 1/4" thick but the width is what I need to know! it looks perfect on your layout. I have a shelf that is 10.25 " but I can't decide how wide to make the sidewalk.
Love that you showed how to make this layout. I got a knife by hot wire foam factory and tried to carve XPS purple 2 inch foam and it does not work as well as using the white foam you used. I broke the first knife even going slow. It looks like you can cut it like butter with what your using. So do you find it hard to use on 2 in XPS foam?
I also bought the power supply that can change temperature settings. The highest setting is what I use for the pink XPS foam-just go slow and let the knife do all the work!

If this is your first purchase from them, I suggest you look at some of their kits-everything you’ll need to include the power to use them!
Thanks, Carl 😊
My pleasure!
Setting up my village, thank you for great ideas.
You bet! Bet it’ll be awesome!!
Thanks for sharing this walk through.
You bet!
Very helpful! Thank you for the content you put out and share🎃👊
Thank you-you’re welcome!!
Thanks for the step by step! I'm more into Christmas villaging versus Halloween, but I will definitely apply these builds to my new village!
Glad I could help!

Thank you and thanks for the suggestion-I’m always learning!! The tool does come in quite handy!
Those stairs came out so well! Did that tool come in the hot wire foam factory tool kit?
Thank you! Yes, it came in the kit I purchased.

Another great tutorial. Sure could have used that tool when I made my sidewalks. Steps are my hardest to do. You make the steps look so easy.
Thank you so much!!
Good video, tool, and technique.
Thank you!!
I have learned a ton from you and spent way too much money on tools! 😳😂
Hahah-happy to help!!
Bethany Lowe collection has some amazing halloween dog decorations. In case you haven't seen them before as a dog person I thought you'd like to know.
Thanks for the recommendation-I’ll check it out!!

Hi there! My sidewalks are usually about 2” wide!

Thx for sharing what glue do you use.thx
Hot glue for most and then white glue for the grass
What is the name of the 2” white foam board? I’m guessing it was faced insulation board? What brand & type?
Correct-xps foam insulation from Lowes in a 4’x8’ sheet. Don’t remember the brand
What kind of tool is that for cutting stairs? I bought a crappy one that broke right away so need advice on a good one to buy please

What glue do you use to glue the layers? I used E600 and it ate the foam. I am not sure what else to try
I didn’t glue the layers on this one, but I would use hot glue if I were to-works great!
I’ll just stick with making my trees 🤣
Hahah-live a little!!
