    In this video, I talk about a future update on the Lexus Interface. We have seen a screen shot in the Lexus GX review and also this was shown in a 2024 Lexus NX demo from Redline Reviews ( • The 2024 Lexus NX 350h... . So this update should be coming soon. I hope they do push this out ASAP. Unfortunately, Android Auto will not be getting such update. This could be a limitation to Android Auto, but I hope Lexus will find a way to add it for Android Auto as well. This update should be available with version 2170 which is available from assembly plant on late 2014 and 2015 models.

    The screen is massive we could afford to lose a small bit of real estate for this incredibly useful update. TBH this is the way the infotainment should have been designed in the first place.

      On a 9.8" inch it might be a bit smaller. For the 14" is definitely big enough. I agree that this should be fine upfront. I just don't know if this is a CarPlay feature that they could enable now.

    This is a really useful update. I often look to switch and it’s a number of screen taps - this makes it so much easier. Now the big question; When’s it coming?

    • @lsft

      Seems like some vehicles have it installed. I really hope soon.

    I think its good that Lexus is starting to acknoledge that infotainment screen needs to be improved and more user friendly. My suggest for OTA update is that the white side bar for the menu should have the ability to slide and hide left thefore allowing for more real estate of the screen. Especially for 3rd party apps e.g. a better route planner for EV charging routing.

      I have seen a demo of it and the size menu bar could be hidden.

    Android has to go through the same steps.... was just typing this as you mentioned it at 7:00. Lol.
    An invisible home button in a corner would be nice.
    When the free Nav goes away, I'll eventually just live in android until the occasional settings adjustment or when I need OTA radio.

      If you live in Android Auto then this won't be a problem

    I think the update in regard to the bank of icons being left on screen is better and offers improved functionality.

    I bought a 2024 NX last week and it already has that expanding feature. I honestly thought it was just the way it came for everyone. It’s been very useful. I actually have very rarely expanded car play to full screen.

      Great to see you have it already. What version is the software? We currently have 2050.

      Same version, do you experience my issue with the blind spot? Using remote connect?

      When driving blind spot won’t work. Quick solution was to go to the menu and toggle blind spot and then works. If I turn on the car normally it works fine

      I don't think I've seen this issue. I'll check next time I remote start.

    Those are great news but how about the bugs? I was at the dealer couple weeks ago because my left mirror blind spot wasn't working when I turn on the car remotely, any of you has the same issue? Also they replaced the wireless charger because my android and iphone stops charging, after replacement same issue. The tech mentioned that maybe is the controller (infotainment system) but it cost around $22000 dlls (american) and maybe is not going to be approve, but anyway I hope they fix the bugs.

      @lsft  Місяць тому

      Typically with an update they do fix bugs as well. Just not as frequent as we like.

    Android Auto does seem to be Carplay's poor relation at Toyota/Lexus doesn't it? Here in the UK we'd probably just settle for having wireless Android Auto. We were promised it as an OTA back when we bought our cars in 2022 but there's no sign of it and dealers have stopped mentioning it now.

    • @lsft
      @lsft  Місяць тому

      The wireless is mostly licensing issues between Toyota and Google. I think Toyota did an analysis that there are more iPhone users who drive a Lexus over Android users. But definitely that depends on country and region. I do feel that iPhone generally do work better with the system over Android devices. I think the focus should be equal, but some could also be SDK with CarPlay and Android Auto.

    I hope we can turn this feature off; if I'm ever in the Toyota interface it usually means something has gone wrong (aka I never use it). More power to those that want it though.

    • @lsft

      Looks like you can expand it all the way. Hope it remembers the last time you used it

    Okay, I'll let you know what [ I ] think. I think the Lexus (specifically the one we own - the NX350b) is THE MOST OVERLY COMPLICATED, OBFUSCATED COMPLEX thing ever invented!!!! To know and to know how to access all the convoluted settings, controls, functions, etc on this car one needs to take a 4 year college course! (And the USER'S MANUALS - all 1000 pages is USELESS. The manuals tell you "what is available"...........but no where in any of the manuals do they tell the owner/driver HOW TO ENABLE/DISABLE/or ACCESS all these do-dads and gimmicks!!). Doesn't ANYONE know how to drive and operate an automobile anymore..........like when to use the brake..........when to change lanes "safely"..........how to use rear view mirrors?

    • @lsft
      @lsft  17 днів тому

      Thanks for your feedback. I don't think this system is overly complicated. But you are right that the manual is big and could be outdated since they have updated the system already and they won't print you a new version. Complex or not is definitely subjective. There are definitely ways to improve and reduce complexity.
