I think there is something with Lexus cars that drains the battery regardless. I learned this the hard way when I bought my 2002 SC430. I don't drive it much and I had to replace 4 batteries. I finally got a trickle charger. The SC4320 is basic but it had power seats and other components that was draining the battery. I have an NX350h and I will also put that on a trickle charger .

Thanks for the instructions. I ended up getting this same charger. Question: At 6:20 you mentioned using the inside nut vs outermost nut. Is there a reason for one nut over the other?

the easiest way is to get authorities to check the port before cars get shipped out.... I just dont understand how the police arent cracking down on just this ... - How many ports are these cards going out from?? - what is so tough about checking large containers containing cars - checking documents for shipping out cars?

Good news for thiefs, not to much change, instead of the headlight OBD port they have to use the OBD port two under the steering wheel. Yep, Lexus just made them comfortable they have to a seat straight in the driving position to type comfortable on their device. Opening the door or smashing the driver side window it's not a big deal. When are the car manufacturers going to take seriously the issue? It's very serious, the thieves jam the WiFi operating surveillance cameras as well while operating!! So the legal market overall is far behind the thieves illegal devices. There is less and almost nothing to do to have a pace of mind when about your car.

Lexus always place certification ECU at the back of glove box. Probably that's their target. The certification ECU is responsible for receiving the car key signals, analyze it and if everything is OK, it'll initiate a start order and send it to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU. The point here is every module has CAN connection because it'll make fault diagnosis easy and effective. There's probably nothing vehicle manufacturers can do to prevent theft because no system is 100% hackproof. While car manufacturers are trying their best to make cars more comfortable, more sophisticated with techs, the bad boys are busy trying to hack the system. The other thing is since vehicle manufacturers make the system available to the dealers and the technicians at the dealership are trained to fully understand the system then the whole security system get out of hand. All car thefts are from experts who know what they are doing.

Get rid of this car!! It will get stolen again, again.. easy now! Trade in get a cheap Toyota! That nobody wants to steal. And be happy 😊 this video just shows you in some neighborhoods u can not have anything nice.. i would move! Or put cameras, get a garage... lol

Theft could be preventable if cars were fitted with face and fingerprint recognition security. Our phones have them, why not cars?

Those black wires (5:00) doesn’t have anything to do with ignition, they are foot well courtesy lights. They were probably after a wire going to the ecm behind that wire.

This video has been a god send after purchasing a 2023 RX450H+ and cleaning the car for the first time. Opening and closing various doors to clean and hoover out. Tried starting car later. Totally flat! Had to get AA out. This happened again but spent Less time with doors open but still flat battery. AA came out again. This is when I found your video. I bought the Bluetooth monitor which has worked brilliantly in keeping me informed on the state of charge. Noticing the battery can be around 50% charged most times and opening and closing various doors and hatch back soon lowers it. So like you say running the car on eV mode charges it up. Which I do now while washing my car! Never had to do this before with my 4 other Lexus's So thank you very much for making the video and all your other videos. I find them really informative.

Always shocking to see this happening... On my side, I try to diversify the protections that I have in my NX : I think that the combination of purely mechanical anti-theft protections (such as a solid steering wheel bar that grips at least 2 spokes of the steering wheel, to make it harder and longer to rip off) and electronic protections (OBD2 port protection, or GPS tracker, for example) can deter thieves who may be ‘specialised’ in one technique or another, but don't have the full range of equipment to foil all types of protection at the same time. With that, thieves would prefer to focus on the next car instead of yours... And FYI, the location in the central console corresponds to where the DCM box is implemented...

This isn't a new method fyi - breaking rear windows and then gaining access to the OBD port to create new keys has been done for years now. The new method was the headlight method via CANBUS but since LEXUS has patched it thieves are going back to their old methods. Seems like the interior damage they just wanted to remove the LEXUS GPS tracker. I have realized that the thieves tend to break the interior of the car once they actually physically steal a vehicle then drive it to a different location to then remove the GPS tracker. All of this interior damage was a result of that. As an owner of a 2021 RX which was stolen then attempted to be stolen various times (protect by IGLA now) I can tell you that there is no interior damage whatsoever. Only exterior damage with the fender as thieves are trying to get in out asap. Now with the rise of broken windows its just a matter of time till they strike again.

So just got my brand new Lexus RX450H+ less than 2 weeks ago and driven it about every third day or so. And today, 12V battery is dead. Can’t start car. Tried following steps in manual to charge the 12V battery with jumper cables attached to front designated area (Positive terminal next to fuse box and negative on metal clip). Weird thing is whenever I connect all terminals to the other car’s battery, the alarm goes off on the Lexus. Have you experienced this when trying recharge the 12V using jumpers from another car battery?

I am truly shocked and disappointed with Toyota/Lexus ... how useless is their car alarm if someone BREAKS the freaking window and it doesn't go off !!! Unbelievable incompetence... 😡

IMO.....a Locking FOOT brake lock with RED trim... & a steering Wheel Lock with RED trim.....once LOCKED would have been a GREAT Determinant......If parked by a corner in well lit area ( not over nite!.....They most likely would have LQQKed through the window and Said Jus' too much trouble...... & move on to a EASY target w/o additional determinants Both with RED Coloring....Additionally, put Tracking GPS Stickers in windows...and hide "Air Pods in various places.....Clearly not a Guar.....However there Far to many other people who do Not do anything and MAYBE the thief will simply move down the street!....,.. Even now Android phones can detect unidentified air tags and get warnings, so probably everytime before driving back home, do a tag scan

I just want to add Lexus NX 350h 2022 driver seat squeak. I bought mine in 2022 brand new. It started squeaking probably after 4 month of ownership. Lexus dealer asks for $240 diagnostic fee, if they find out that warranty covers it, then they might reimburse it. I guess I need to figure out how to fix it myself.

Just after that video was recorder, Toyota announced the availability of the new Yaris Cross for Europe, with the enhanced power train of the LBX but limited to 130ch (instead of 136ch) with slightly lower performance, and the 12,3" intrument cluster. There are 3 trim levels proposed with the enhanced power train, on top of the 4 existing 116ch versions (with the 7" instrument cluster) that remain commercialized. However, the Yaris Cross remains a Toyota, it does not have the additional road and engine insulation and other Lexus refinements. Anyway, this is a very popular car in particular here, as it is "Made in France" (for Europe). It was the most produced car in the country in 2023, even ahead of Renault, Peugeot or Citroën and is praised as 'The Preferred Car" in France !

I called to find if they had the parts in yet. neither dealer could answer that?? Trying to find out if they had the parts for the recall to fix it was like pulling teeth. One told me they don't order the parts until y ou make an appointment ? What? Are you kidding? Why is that on the customer? They should have ordered the parts and then notify. me. That was months ago. What gives?

I wish I found this before I had an issue. Fortunately, the tow operator knew what to do.

What drive mode were you in while you’re charging the 12V battery? I just want to be able to drive it on Auto mode for most part (Mixed Hybrid and EV Mode) and not have to worry about the 12V Battery not charging.

How hard would it be for Lexus to run a wire from the main battery to the 12v battery to keep it charged…Good Grief!!!!

Was wondering this for so long! The tech told me there is a terminal exposed in the front but never looked for it. Thank you! When you say idling the car is best for letting the 12v battery charge, you mean just leaving the car in park while in HV mode -- am i right?

Another great and useful video, Thanks. So, I have a 2023 NX350h and every year I have to leave the car for around 5 months when I go overseas. Is there a way to minimize battery drain, and/or is there an easy way to disconnect the main power without having to physically disconnect the battery? I am thinking of removing a main fuse in the fuse box or something similar? Thanks again for your excellent work.

You have a great collaboration here guys! just yesterday I went to my local dealership to view the new LBX (I'm based in Israel). From what I can say as a Lexus NX owner is first of all you feel right at home in the LBX, some of the switch gear is the same of course, but it feels upmarket in most other respects. It drives nice and I think that size wise it makes the Lexus UX a little bit redundant.

As an NX450H+ owner I am delighted that the comparison is exactly what we are looking for in our purchase (January) for delivery in August. We have opted for the 4WD version which burns a little more money but stops us from wondering what we are missing.

We have the LBX here in Aus. Whilst it’s cute I’d never consider it as it’s simply too small

Pity it won't come to Canada or US 😞 I am based in Austria and have the highest spec LBX on order, which adds some great "big car extras" like adaptive LED headlights, full advanced parking feature (with remote parking using your mobile and 360 deg camera´s), heads up display as well as 13 speaker Mark Levinson sound system. Think Lexus have given the consumer a truly great package as Jean-Marc said for city and EU towns without compromising on luxury and safety. Can't wait to drive my Lexus Cool edition soon as our second family car. Agree that it may be too small for longer road commutes with a family of 4 but ideal as a daily city and commuter luxury vehicle.

I really hope they bring the LBX to North America, fantastic little car that would work well for my wife.
