How to remove goggles in Raven Shield 2.0:
After installing Raven Shield 2.0, navigate to the install directory, open Mods folder and then open the RavenShield.mod file and insert two "//" in front of the line "m_PlayerCtrlToSpawn=RVSComplete.RVS2PC". Do the same for the AthenaSword.mod and IronWrath.mod files.

Always loved old R6 games. Graphichs don't seem as bad as other games from 2003. Game has no joke when comes to shootouts. Firing your gun in this game has a certain satisfaction to it especially shooting guys. Wish there were iron sights tho. Also team AI could have been better. Tom Clancy games always had a mature realistic feeling to them

They are working on remaster called Kingpin Reloaded. Can't wait for that. Remaster of Swat 4 would have been nice as well. Looks like Ready or Not is still not coming :/

KazeRV The great tom Clancy was alive when seige game out. They havent pissed on it since Tom Clancy himself really had no hand in the games development. He let ubisoft use the names and title of his ingenious work.
bullsht, the vegas games were the reason the series died haha. Rainbow until 3 was nice, and siege is sick as well, but vegas made it die.
Rainbow Six stopped being Rainbow Six when they cut out the Mission Planning, then it became another shooter.

The voice sounding the same for all male/female operatives bugged me a little too, but not being able to equip a scope and a suppressor at the same time was plain silly. I also found the fluid opening/closing of doors to be very useful, and especially so in a tactical shooter. Too bad that mechanic didn't really get copied that much if at all.

Cool vid but planning is overrated. A strong knowledge of room clearing and CQB tactics will get you far in this game, but outside of knowing where everything is and the general layout, i typically forgo planning in favor of manually controlling my assaulters. Also dont lean, leaning dramatically reduces you accuracy and is only applicable when trying to shoot odd angles around cover, instead, slowly inch sideways and pie off a doorway. Try to get the enemies arms or legs into view and take them that way. You want to avoid a fair fight as much as possible because the enemies are basically super Delta Force Navy SEAL marksmanship champions who can go from lazily standing around to a headshot in fractions of a second.

I really liked seeing the maps from Ravenshield reappear in Vegas 1 and 2. The bank was the university library in Vegas, the Villa remains the Villa, and just the other week I began to suspect that the airport actually became the junkyard in Vegas 2 based on that weird room between the hangers/warehouses with that particular piece of cover.
Honestly, you're not THAT terrible. It's actually amazing how you manage to score hits and stay alive, playing the way you do. "Short, controlled bursts" is Schlomowood bullshit, use single shots - you'll live longer and kill those pixels slightly quicker. Slow-paced tip toeing around corners doesn't work as well as it sounds, at least not in this game, because that's exactly what it expects you to be doing (my theory is that the AI reaction times in R6 and, to some extent, in GRAW 2 are modeled around such gameplay strategy). "Speed surprise and violence of action" - one of the cliche American phrases, it is also the fundament of CQB IRL (wait, is it? Well, it was something about being aggressive and shit and not stopping for anything, I don't remember...). All in all, good review.
Maybe that was why I got my ass kicked on Rainbow Six 1. I didn't passed the training.
You nailed it. Mastering this game means also knowing when to pie and when to attack. But the dude does suck @zz at this game. Look at that insane dpi lol
I've been playing a lot of tactics games lately, and Door kickers 2 has really been scratching that itch. But I'd been wishing there was a game that let me plan but be in control, and edit characters with perma death... come to find out it was 20 years ago. Tactical games peaked early

Great review. I respect the mod Raven Shield 2.0 a lot. However, I had to get rid of it, as it completely breaks at least one mission (and allegedly some others). Operation: Broken Stone has these enemies equipped with gas masks who activate a chemical agent if you don't kill them soon enough upon them spotting you. However, in Raven Shield 2.0, these enemies, for some reason, are not equipped with firearms, meaning that your teammates never shoot them. This makes completing the mission extremely difficult with the mod. In fact, it seemed so off that it didn't take me long to figure out that the mod was likely the culprit. Sure enough, upon reverting back to vanilla, the mission was fixed. The gas-mask guys were armed, and your teammates would shoot at them immediately upon seeing them. It's too bad that it wasn't finished, as something that updates the aging game would be very welcome.

@@TacticalGamingNetwork Any idea how I can download it for free? I found some websites but they don't seem safe. Also, what's the difference between Gold Edition and Complete? I have Complete, a physical copy of it, but it seems it ruined a previous pc of mine, it got a virus directly after it, I never heard of such a case though, might've just been a coincidence, so that's why I'm not trying to install that one, not yet at least, I'm looking for safer options first.

Cuz if that's what you mean then you're strangely unfamiliar with the dangers of downloading games for free from suspicious websites. Whether the game is old or not is irrelevant to how common it is to get a virus instead of a game when downloading for free from websites.
More specifically - I have a physical purchased copy of "Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield Complete", do you have it? Know anyone who has it? Any issues known about it regarding viruses? I find it very strange that a physical and legitimate copy of a game would have a virus but the reason I ask is cuz I'm being extra careful since the last time I installed the game with that copy my laptop at the time got a virus while the game acted weird. Strange coincidence? Maybe, but worth to check before I install it again. IF I install it again with that copy of the game.
This is where I got used to playing more tactical now in most battle royale games lmao the og dark souls type death where u die in like 1 or 2 shots every time
If you think lone wolf is scary in this, try soloing Hunt in Onward VR. Even worse terror.
Transparency in ironsights are deliberate, for combat shooting you leave both eyes open so you get a binocular effect where one eye can see around or "through" the gun up against your dominant eye. Although this wouldn't happen with pistols as much.
You should revisit this game, they have updated RS 2.0 mod, and they released a great mod called Elite Counter Terrorism.
transparent/out of focus iron sights are realistic! it's something i think alot of games get wrong... ghost ring sights are called ghost rings for a reason. I bet its difficult to execute visually in a fps game though :\

The aim penalties in this game, even if you're slowly moving is crazy. But man the way enemies drop in one shot (so do operators). So tacticool.
Finished the base game and Athena. The first map of Iron Wrath (university) is kind of creepy in a way. And really elaborate. They went so hard designing an explorable vertical level, even if they didnt need to.
Though i notice you mostly use burst/automatic.. frankly accurate 1-2 semi-auto shots are enough to down opfor. Automatic firemode is quite inaccurate. It's instant death when enemies are quite far from you
Rainbow six games are great but nothing can reach the level of original ghost recon , I still can't believe it came out in 2001. Don't know what's so special about it but everything in it feels amazing Anyone who likes these kind of games must give that game a chance

Ghost recon with Heroes Unleashed is the best tactical shooter I have ever played bar none.
Still going strong with a new map coming out in a few days!
and here lies the prosperity of the tactical shooter genre...how I miss the time of Raven Shield and Rogue Spear! that was Tom Clancy at his best because, he was directly involved in the development of those games...now it's just bullets flying around...
I still got the case of this game even though I have bought it on steam later.
The case is still one of the best designed game cases I have ever seen even though the sleeve that fit over the case has fallen apart on me over the years and isn't anymore.
Still play this game since I can actually get it working on windows 10 which I can't say for the swat games. I got it to a point of zero crashes or problems now on Windows 10..
I had SWAT 3 running on Windows 10 fine using the Last Resort mod and voodoo wrapper. I didn't have any issues running SWAT 4 by itself. But if you're talking about the first 2 games then I have no idea.
Hehe, I actually got SWAT 4 working since I posted my initial comment, it worked after getting the 1.1 patch.

Im thinking to buy this over the Swat 3 because it seems "friendlier" in terms of mission failings by casualties and the lone wolf missions sounds fun but the bots hold me back from buying it. Do they get stuck into walls often, or just behave too static?
The bots are sometimes pretty dumb. I installed and played the game yesterday and played a single map for 4 hours straight because I didn't want any of my bots to die while not controlling them myself.
Some things really bugged me while playing.
First, bots don't really cover teammates when they are lining up for a grenade throw. The one throwing the grenade will always go to the front of the team so if there is an enemy around the corner that approaches, he can easily kill the guy without his team even noticing.
Second, they are often not checking corners. If they come out to an open area, they look in the direction they are moving. They are not always looking to the sides when leaving a building, so they are easily killed.
Also, there was a pretty annoying bug that made one team always open a door and look insides before going back out (which often killed them) and follow their path even tho there was no waypoint close to that door or a path leading through it. They just always did it while getting close to that door from a specific direction so I had to reroute them to keep a distance from that door.
On another instance, there was a situation where there was a single enemy with his back to my team and the team just passed him instead of killing him (also, the path was not set to Recon). After passing him, the enemy eventually turned around and killed my team from behind.
Except for that, the game is great and I wish there were more games that have mission planning mechanics for bots like this game.

Hey, would it be possible to name the mods / fixes you use in the infobox? It is a pain to get old games running on modern hardware. I think a video series (with short videos) where you could show what to do to get them running would be a nice idea for your channel as well

i love this game, are just like old 1998 rainbow six games in new 3d engine, the streess playing this game are close to play rouge spear or the classic rainbow and ghost recon from 2001 are very similar

Hey gaming pastime you seem to like the Rainbow 6 and the SWAT games, you should check out Hidden & dangerous 1 and 2 they are tactical shooters set in WW2.
Hidden and Dangerous were excellent games, I am not sure if they are still playable on modern computers. The planning phase on Raven Shield was really cool.

i Loved all of the R6 games up to this one which I think is the best overall and the end of the true series - R6 Letdown just felt wrong and the Vegas games were such a departure in gameplay it's impossible to consider them related to R6 as they are far from tactical shooters.
But if you can get a copy of SWAT 4 - the final game in that series - I would definitely check it out as it gives Raven Shield a run for it's money.
SWAT 3 gameplay better than SWAT 4? Multiplayer hands down SWAT 4.

Hey, I've been an infantryman for 6 years, and my idiot teammates get their asses handed to them by a guy in a spot they should have been covering, so it's not always your fault when your plan fails. The AI's reaction time is superhuman occasionally as well.
Just picked up this game, absolutely love it but don’t care about the story so I downloaded a 100% save file so I can just play on all the maps

I miss coop tango hunt. How do you all get it to run? All I get is GPF crashes on launch. Tried XP, compatibility, starting in windowed mode... Gave up.

I think both are very close. Either one, both list 1 and 2 in my rankings for R6 games.
On the surface these may seem like slow paced games, but really you’re having to think quickly, tactically. Same with the splinter cell games.
Are there any mods for the first Rainbow Six. Trying to google them is hard as the first game is simply titled Rainbow Six, so searching for "rainbow Six mods" makes for inaccurate results and adding a '98 does nearly nothing.

The Arma series is kinda like Rainbow Six, but it's more in-line with Ghost Recon.

We used Shadow Play and recorded the desktop. The game's main menu, including the planning screen, is hard coded at the 640x480 resolution.

Yes, the only real difference is that you can bring eight people in a mission instead of six, along with the level to which you can equip your team

I get where you're coming from. I love this series and siege is not something I think Tom Clancy would have released. I do love old and new Rainbow Six alike, though.
It helps to think of siege as a game based on the world rather than a traditional R6 game.

The movement is really realistic, much more realistic CQB than in arma 3

Siege and Patriots was a massive missed opportunity... Epic Fail by Ubisoft.
using a plan is pointless in this game all you need is the heartbeat sensor and smoke grenades and you can win every map without a plan or a team. The a.i. is awful, they cant even flashbang a room without killing themselves.

Well, maybe to some, it's not and to some, it would be fine to them, don't forget old games like this and the people who made them have very little technology on hand, so you should sort of think how lucky we gamers got to the real deal back then! If you want something with better voice acting, you could maybe check out Ready Or Not.
There is a story in a novel written by Tom Clancy and features characters you see in movies like Clear and Present Danger, John Clark and Ding Chavez. It features more believable enemies that these esoteric ones found in video games. Having Nazis and neofascists was off-putting and ridiculous especially after the Cold War.
How is it ridiculous? The far right had a massive resurgence after the Cold War, have you been paying attention?
@@S1deshowRob lmao. Anyway, he's right. It's safe to make the bad guys some generic nazis to avoid making actual groups mad, apparently. The Sum of All Fears film was changed completely versus the book in order to accommodate this also. R6:3 has an original story so it's disappointing they couldn't be more creative.

How to mod video?
Can you command other teams to fall in and follow you? I seriously can't figure it out. Like on mission 4, I wanted green team to clear the area outside the warehouses and then follow me with the rest of the red team.
Zak K I think if you aim down and bring up the command menu there's an option to follow. If not, I'm thinking of the wrong game.

@@TacticalGamingNetwork I can't seem to find it on that website. Also you sure it works with mods that add aim down sights and custom guns? I've used a mod that does actually change the fov but every time I aim down sights the fov resets back to it's original value.
