I remember my brother gave me the money to buy SMB3 and we couldn't find it anywhere. I bought Super C instead. Then a couple weeks later he told me to get him something from his jacket and there it was. I don't know where he was able to find it. That had to be my favorite NES game ever. So many hours spent on it. Big shout out to my big bro, whose name is coincidentally also Mario btw.

@@rabble_rousdower not money laudnering but yes a scam. turns out the seller was friends of an auction house owner, and the buyer was the auction house itself... they then of course advertise how high the game sold so bring in all your old games to be auctioned. its basically trying to inflate the market becuase the auction house takes a large % of every sale.

I worked at Kay-Bee in 1990. I remember when that cartridge came out how impossible it was to keep in stock. We kept an actual waiting list, on paper and everything, with names and phone numbers. However, being an employee had its advantages and I wound up snagging one of the first copies. I couldn't say whether it was the error version, but chances are it was, just by the time frame. It may still be at my mom's house. I'll have to look for that one next time I visit.

Omg this is amazing. You have the coolest Aunt. I hope she is still around. I remember it like yesterday on how difficult it was to find it. I was 12 in 1990 and somehow my mom found it at KB Toys in the mall in south Jersey around my birthday in November. I remember my friends having a hell of a time finding it later.

Those were the times! From Arcade to unboxing a game system/game during birthdays and holidays.... the best excitement any kid could ask for. Now, a simple download is all we gamers get. Bring back psychical media and keep the 80's and the 90's alive by supporting the Retro gaming market. Best times!

You were one lucky kid in early 1990. Mario 3 and a Ninja Turtles toy are the best gifts you could receive during that period. GGs to your Aunt for being able to find it.

It was January of 1990 I was 11 years old and, my friend called me up all excited saying his Dad scored a copy of SMB3 for his computer and hurry up get over so we can play. I was stoked because it was about a month until the game was released so I rushed over, we get the computer on and get the game going and it turned out to be a different version of the original Mario Bros game. We were so disappointed. We realized that his dad considered that game a number 3 of Mario Bros since his dad didn't know the difference between Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros games. At least my friend and I had about 3 weeks before M3 was out but it wasn't a bad wait but it felt like forever and when it was released, it was hard trying to find a copy since almost every store sold out but after my parents drove half the state it seems like until I finally got my game. I still play my original to this day, alot of great memories.

Really Loved the nostalgia feels in this video!!! Crazy story with the Mario Bros 3 variant being worth so much $$$, Mario 3 is also the top pick game from my childhood growing up!!! And What’s even better about the video is that I’m from Long Island and as soon as I saw the shots Walt Whitman mall and commack cinemas and I knew instantly- I used to go to the lake grove toys r us all the time growing up

Bro, I’m 39 and you have no idea! I remember getting Mega Man x 3 on SNES brand new and sealed on my birthday and just ripping that plastic wrap and box up like it was nothing in a matter of seconds, same goes for countless other super high value games, a link to the past, Donkey Kong country etc if only I knew. 😭

I never knew about Left Bros until a few months ago. Last year I began buying up all systems I can get my hands on such as NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Playstation, X Box, etc. I started buying CIB copies of games, my friend that owns a retro store got a copy of SMB3 CIB, ended up being the Left Bros copy I purchased. Not sealed or completely mint but pretty good condition. I'm slowly making up for lost time.

I love how we all had that one cousin who was really good at a game. One of my cousins would go with me to the arcade and absolutely own people in Tekken 3. He made this older guy so mad that he was about to start placing money bets.

Great story! I remember my mom trying to surprise me with a trip to the mall to purchase Super Mario 3. It was no where to be found! I was bummed and we were about to leave when my mom suggested checking out JC Penny. I was like...mom no way that store will have that. Sure enough as we walked into the store, in the clear glass display case was a copy of Super Mario 3. Good times back then!!

Great video. I have the left bros complete in the box for 32 bucks. A second hand store that has a nice video game section. That same store I found another left bros cart only. Still haven't beaten this but got close back around when I first had it. Your videos are so magical and great.
