Same thing happened to my pooch, accidents and all! Apparently those skin infections are pretty common in the summer, but I attributed it to bacteria in the lake water

Ha we missed seeing you and Camper by a couple weeks. My hubby and I bought a 22ft RV in Minneapolis and drove it back to Albuquerque through Minnesota, SD, NE, CO. So much fun seeing the Bad Lands, Mount Rushmore and other sites!!🥰

Hi Nikki, I have a 2012 Prius with 90000 miles. About 3 months ago, my Prius started doing some weird things, though not starting was not one of them. I did get a low battery warning on the dash. I thought it was for the key fob battery, which I did replace, but that wasn't it. So I did replace the 12 volt battery and now the only problem that I have is when I turn it off, and later, turn it back on, the HVAC system will default to 75 degrees in the heat mode with the fan off. It doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes. It probably just needs to be reset, but I don't trust any of the local dealers in my area. Anyway, I really injoy your vids, please keep it up. Oh Yeah, Camper is awesome. I have a rescue pup myself. She was dumped a my local library @ 8 weeks old, with Parvovirus, $1200 to treat her, and worth every penny.🐶🐶🐶

I did that trip a couple of years ago. From Arkansas to Chamberlain, SD to see the statue Dignity and then Badlands, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse was my favorite

Glad the Prius issues were not major. I use Nord, I mostly love it and feel much safer with it connected. The only issue I ever have is occasionally it screws with my internet connection and I have to just turn it off for a while and then come back to it. Enjoy S. Dakota!
2:45 Car batteries are known to die suddenly. I have had two not old (still had some warranty) batteries just go dead. Drove somewhere, came back dead battery. Replaced the battery.

Fellow 2nd Gen Prius owner here - I've found the issue with the car not starting tends to be the interface between the key and the dash plug - I'm lucky that my 2009 has SmartKey, so I can start the car without the need to plug it directly into the dash. Here's hoping you never have the dreaded issue with being unable to turn the car off and remove the key. Stay safe out there, ya hear!

if Prius is stuck powered on, just hold down the power button for ten seconds to force it off.
@@phillipreay thanks - I did find out about the ten-second-hold fix for this issue later on (had to Google it from a parking lot).

Anyone else out there having a hard time deciding between a Prius and a Sprinter Van? I've added up the pros and cons of both in my head probably a thousand times at this point, and I still can't decide which one is my better option. Nikki is just one of those people who makes the Prius lifestyle look super fun, and the fact that you don't need a van to do all this, that you can be totally comfortable and happy living in a Prius is just amazing. And I've wanted a van for a while now, but this kind of thing just trips me up and makes me want a Prius, instead.
I recommend renting both for weekend and trying it out! I at times wish I had more space and 4x4 abilities but also a van could never park some of the places I do or have climate control. It’s such a hard decision!!!!:-) Let me know what you do!
@@NikkiDelventhal Choosing is so hard! There are so many benefits to both versions that I just keep flickering back and forth between them. Honestly, though, I've often considered just starting off with a Prius and then upgrading to a van once I've got the money I need saved up, because I'm super impatient and I don't think I can sit around for upwards of a year just saving money and not getting to go places and do stuff in the meantime.
Renting a van for a weekend does sound like a good idea, though. I'll definitely consider it in the meantime, because I'm just playing the waiting game right now, and it honestly kinda sucks.
Yeah! I have my prius cause this is the car I had for 10 years but thinking about a next vehicle makes me crazy cause there’s so many pros and cons! Hahahha good luck!!!

Yes, our old Prius' are no longer tending to our AUX batteries as well as they used to. Before next summer look up how to check your inverter coolant pump. Make sure it's working. But in the winter convection alone will do pretty good. I'm making a whole secondary car computer that will tie in via the OBD2 port to better monitor the subsystem performance.
The truck stops "Bean to Cup" coffee is surprisingly good. In the summer the iced version is just as good as SixBucks.

The lake was amazing.
I luv her dog, reminded me of mine when I was growing up, Terrier mix, he didn't have a big personality, but really sweet and smart, but I can see where he'd make an awesome traveling companion, always ready to do what you're into.. just a really intune friend, sleep, play, gentle, visit friends, just whatever and no problems... I miss him all the time.

@@NikkiDelventhal He was, passed away for sometime now... but he was so easy going, would ,sleep slow down or speed up, whenever I decided... really smart, low maintenance... Camper's disposition and breed reminded me of him... just a great easy to get along with buddy, I'll be checking you guys out on your travels.

We call Hill City, Hail City our family has wrecked a LOT of cars and trucks up there. We also got caught on little Devils tower in a storm but made it back to Sylvan Lake before the golf ball size hail. I actually had bruises, from a couple I took before getting under a roof.

I love South Dakota thats wre I'm from.19 miles away north of Chamberlain S.D the big bend dam area. has great fish,hunting and camping as will a favorite swimming area. both sides of the river. I recommend it.👍👍👍👍👍
