    For my Prius I built a DIY electric water system. I can use for drinking, washing dishes, showering, and can reach the pop up tent.
    Grateful for the UA-cam video showing me how to make it.

      @kaylakunz6913 3 роки тому

      How did you make it?

    • @Yotrek
      @Yotrek 3 роки тому +3

      @@kaylakunz6913 It’s a 12v water pump. I used 20’ of braided tubing for water output, and a couple of feet of PEX pipe for the water input. The electric wires are hard wired to a DC plug, which is plugged into a 5 amp DC to AC outlet. The 20’ of hose is connected to a garden nozzle. All fastened to a plywood board. In future iterations I could add an on/off switch (instead of plug). Or could also add a small battery so I could draw water from a shallow creek without using a long extension chord.

    I had a moment of living out of my truck, lucky for me my job has showers, and I had a gym membership. So when I got off of work and did not have any plans hit the shower at the job, then relaxed in my truck. If I had plans I'd hit the gym after. Or if already at the gym would workout then shower. Your ways are way more exciting.

    Tips: use a black container to warm up the water for your shower. It will heat up much faster! Also, you don’t really need to use soap. Water is sufficient 90% of the time. And if you can: keep your hair really short, it’s so much easier to clean and dry.

    The reasons I don't do this. Bathroom, shower and a big comfortable bed I can actually fit. Sadly I can't live without those, so it ends up being hard and expensive to live on the road. And yes, I tried and I feel miserable and stress out without those basic things. at least to me!

    A one or 2 gallon pressure garden sprayer makes for a great shower because you can easily direct the water flow. Cut the spray wand shorter if you like and reattach the nozzle. (learned this from sailing and camping). I live by the ocean where wells are commonly inadequate, I really look forward to river bathing weather to give my well a break and it's just so nice to bathe outdoors isn't it! I've also learned from camping that you can dry off completely with something as small as face cloth and like you say it takes up less room (in a washer too) and it dries way faster than a big plush towel. Keep on living light! 😍

    Thanks for sharing Nikki. About using camping shower bags, I think you can solve the mold problem by occasionally adding a bit of white vinegar to rinse the interior. Using the water jug is convenient but it does not warm up the water as quickly as the camping shower bags and also the jug opening does not spread water as evenly to your body as the shower head attachment of the camping shower bag. All the best.

    To see you pull off your car camping lifestyle is truly awe-inspiring.
    I believe you were and continue to be better off not being stuck in an apartment building with sick neighbors breathing COVID on you in the halls and through the walls.
    There have been numerous COVID outbreaks in the old folks apartment building where I thought that I would be safe!
    I usually arise each morning and make a break form the outdoors, exploring the parks around the Metro Denver area.
    I’ve tried city, apartment life a few times now but, this last experience during COVID has me cured for good.
    I refuse to die from some insidious lung disease in this polluted city like my mother and now, my 2 brothers have!
    Enough is enough - I’d rather live free like you than be a victim of this sardine lifestyle!

    • @mannyrodriguez3933

      I’ve done it. No matter how well to do a person is emotionally. Yes it does get lonely. And honestly it’s not such a terrifying experience as it just at times frustrating especially during the really hot and cold seasons. You’re constantly trying to make things comfortable for yourself. Once you get a system in place it’s not so bad. At first it’s thrilling. Over time and a lot of alone time yes it is lonely. It’s a lonely life. When you have another person doing this stuff is amazing. You’re on the same page about how to live life and it makes having these experiences much more memorable. I think anyway, everyone has different opinions about it. I’m sure this gal would feel differently but I do think it is a lonesome lifestyle.

      @@NikkiDelventhal I live near Tucson, AZ. If you are ever in my neighborhood, let me know and you can shower at my place. The dogs can play and we can BBQ in the backyard. You can sleep in my camping hammock under my patio for a change. I can show you around my area too. We have a couple of fun towns like Tombstone and Bisbee, but even more impressive are the mountains and State Parks. Lots of hiking to do there. I hope we bump into each other out there on the road. It would be fun! Keep in touch!

    Excellent coverage of a multitude of options.
    Have you tired baking soda as an eco option instead of soap?
    I have been using baking soda hair wash and vinegar rinse for over two decades. Baking soda also works well as underarm bacteria killer. Another option for washing and exfoliation and oil removal (so probably makeup removal) is rock dust.

    Hi again.. I love the scenery pictures in the videos. They all look wonderful. I enjoy camping, the outdoors and a hike through the woods. Sometimes I'll camp overnight in the mountains. So.. getting to the showers. I heard you say you're not much on the solar shower bags because they get moldy. I agree.. however, there is something you can try which I have myself. It's a shower bag from sea to summit. This is a bag that can literally fit in your pocket (it's so small). It gives you a 7 minute shower wide open which is more than enough and the best part is the the bag is reversible for quicker drying and cleaning. Since I too enjoy the outdoors, I thought I would share. If you decide to try, I hope it works out for you. I'm enjoying your videos 😊
