Speech is protected by constitutional law, that's why they are so determined to destroy democracy and the constitution, but, on the other side of that, speech is also inherent as it was given to you by god and no government, law, court's, or politician can take something away from you that is natural and theirfore ordained by god.

It reminds me a spoiled child tantruming because they had their favourite toy taken from them, even though there are a multitude of toys to play with. Blockbuster is no more because people don't rent DVD or Games as you can now stream them, and often for free, their business model changed because of the modern world, but not fast enough. Soon, town centre shopping will be archaic too, but you don't see retailers on the street pushing people in through their doors holding a red card and blasting threats in their ear.

When the cops turn up, I report the golns for breach of the peace, as by deffinition it becomes aggressive trespass the second I tell them to fuck off and they don't run for it. This is breach of the peaceas they are essentially threatening you with criminal activity and or violence. It's quite simple really. Also, feel free to film it all as the goons often try to bring charges of battery rather than assault so you face an indictment instead of it being a civil matter. Everybody in this country has a right to protect private property with use of reasonable force. How do you think business owners or security don't get arrested for removing folks from the premises? It's when you punch kick or batter that it becomes criminal. If you attempt to use reasonable force to extract them from your property and they refuse, then you can have them arrested is the crux of it.

I believe this is harassment as they have no evidence that you have used services that require a Licence. It's like the police stopping you saying you've committed a crime without knowing that you have.
Never respond to them. Do not remove any right of access either, they use that as a means to get a warrant to enter your property. If they come to the door, do not let them in, do not admit that you live there, do not give them your name. Just say goodbye and close your door. Do not be goaded into an argument with them.

At about 3mins, you hit the nail on the head. I agree about the misleading statement at the head of the letter. IF, they are forced to change it, all they will probably do is add the word 'could' or 'may', so it reads 'You could be breaking the law if you continue to watch TV at these premises.' I think the red evvelope and wording will still frighten the average person into thinking they may need to pay, when they might not.
An enforcement officer (salesman) who ends up reading you your rights is surely impersonating a police officer which is a criminal offence is it not? Only the Police have powers to read you your rights.
Did you contact TV licencing to notify them that you no longer need a TV licence as you don't watch live broadcast TV? If you do it right you don't get bother with threatening letters. You may be asked to reconfirm that you still do t need a licence every couple of years. If you just stop paying, you will get bothered.
@Nigel 61 It may not be a legal obligation but it saves any problem letters so why wouldn't you? You would deserve to be treated harsher if you are caught watching TV after making a declaration. I cancelled my licence because I don't watch live broadcast TV. If I did, I would play fair and pay for the licence. Since making a declaration I have only received one letter confirming and I've not had a visit in the last six months. They may call but they will be going away again as I'll just refer to my decleration.
Yup, I recently moved address and this guy come to my door telling me I needed a TV lisence. I laughed and then educated him on the law. I use the TV for purely Netflix, UA-cam etc and don't watch live TV. He about faced and walked out of my garden 😂

Stopped paying my tv tax last November . Will not buy another licence never watch bbc anyway. Had a few threating letters and couple of visits like u say don't let them in .nothing they can do.
Some have complained to the ombudsman and received financial compensation for the harassment/ administration caused by this forced selling. I would be up for a class action though. Make them pay!
Absolutely correct, what needs crystal clear articulation is exactly what IS and IS NOT permissible under current licensing rules/regulations/laws - so that anyone can understand it. As correctly pointed out the vulnerable in society are most at risk of being mistreated. This is why something needs to be produced to make it 100% easy to determine what an individual needs to do in regards to the UK TV licence fee. These videos are a massive help but a nationwide printed mail shot would be even more effective.
The B.B.C. have taken no measures to encode or protect their broadcast information there fore it is open source and free to anybody with equipment to display. you may also record it for your own use, but may not re broadcast or display the content to the general public. That is if the B.B.C. have bothered to legally copy right any of their content and are not just lying.
With regard to the letter itself, it will be printed by a "direct mailing" printing factory. These factories often deal with things such as bank statements, HMRC's, postal voting papers etc along with all the stuff that we would call junk mail... they call it direct marketing. The return address on the back, likely a P.O Box, will be for the printers that sent it out and not for the licensing dept at the BBC itself. Often times, you can Google the P.O Box and you may get details of a corresponding business that seems incorrect, maybe give them a call.
A good video. Not only is the opening of that letter threatening, but it is also insulting. It accuses people of dishonesty at the very outset. The foundation of British justice is that a person is assumed innocent until proven guilty. However that's not how TV Licensing see it. The TV licence is written into the law of the land, so ultimately this outdated piece of legislation must be undone by the lawmakers, and that is parliament. I should say this gentleman should make very strong protest to his MP. He is right to object to being threatened and also as I say insulted by TV licensing. The MP needs to take that up through the parliamentary channels. Although the law allows TV Licensing to collect the licence fees, which part of the law allows them to threaten and insult the general public in doing so? That is the question the MP needs to answer here.
Citizens Advice Bureau, they may help....but when I first into my flat a couple of years ago, I had letters from them... I explained on their website that I just use a TV for computer games, watching internet and alike. I told them I haven't even got an aerial connected so I can't watch terrestrial ..TV. so eventually they stopped sending me letters...

here in Norway, if you buy a tv,dvd player and such, you will automaticly get to pay tv license, if you don't want it, you need to pay a hefty sum for a tv man to come and plug up your antenna so you can't put a cable in it....however, if i have understood it correct, everyone pay license through tax or something now....same as the years tax to drive on the roads are no paid through your car insurance so that increased as well....that's Norway for you

I have collected all the letters and visit slips and will be putting another video up on my channel, maybe asking people's advise on what they think i should do with these threat letters. Under Section 2 of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997, it is a criminal offence of harassment to make demands for money in such a manner that it causes alarm, distress or intimidation. This is the case no matter what method you use to make contact - whether by telephone, email, letter or in person. Punishment on conviction is six months imprisonment and/or a level 5 fine of up to £5,000, plus legal costs. In other words you are breaking the law.
Might be worth noting that the reason why they send letters, in volume with these 'threats' is because they're largely successful at getting people to respond, pay or contact them. This process was conjured up by the police when they were failing to convict bent coppers, after spending millions chasing, stalking and whatever else to convict a bad police person, it turned out that sending a '10p' letter with a vague threat was enough to scare the little runts into leaving their position in the force or confessing because of a threatening letter. This is the reason why BBC licensing send out letters at mass because a lot of people respond, pay up or contact them. You're not bound by law to respond to them, if you're obeying the rules and are within legal footing. You don't need a licence to own a TV, but if it is tuned into receiving live broadcast or holds digital content from BBC iPlayer then you will need a TV licence. It's also important to note, they can request legal access to all of your digital devices to check that you're not breaking the rules. (Phones, Tablets, PC's and TV's)

No, You are not breaking any laws. You ONLY need a TV licence if you watch or record LIVE broadcasts on any channel using any device or if you want to use the BBC iPlayer to watch catch up TV. You don't require a TV licence to use the internet and you can use your laptop to watch ITV Hub, My5, All 4, UKTV Play and any other on demand TV

those letters are nothing compared to their tv adverts in the 70s and 80s .

I have been receiving these letter's every month for year's and they go straight in the shredder.
Just throw them away because you're wasting precious electricity you have to pay for.

Stopped paying my tv tax last November . Will not buy another licence never watch bbc anyway. Had a few threating letters and couple of visits like u say don't let them in .nothing they can do.
Some have complained to the ombudsman and received financial compensation for the harassment/ administration caused by this forced selling. I would be up for a class action though. Make them pay!

Absolutely correct, what needs crystal clear articulation is exactly what IS and IS NOT permissible under current licensing rules/regulations/laws - so that anyone can understand it. As correctly pointed out the vulnerable in society are most at risk of being mistreated. This is why something needs to be produced to make it 100% easy to determine what an individual needs to do in regards to the UK TV licence fee. These videos are a massive help but a nationwide printed mail shot would be even more effective.

The B.B.C. have taken no measures to encode or protect their broadcast information there fore it is open source and free to anybody with equipment to display. you may also record it for your own use, but may not re broadcast or display the content to the general public. That is if the B.B.C. have bothered to legally copy right any of their content and are not just lying.

With regard to the letter itself, it will be printed by a "direct mailing" printing factory.
These factories often deal with things such as bank statements, HMRC's, postal voting papers etc along with all the stuff that we would call junk mail... they call it direct marketing.
The return address on the back, likely a P.O Box, will be for the printers that sent it out and not for the licensing dept at the BBC itself.
Often times, you can Google the P.O Box and you may get details of a corresponding business that seems incorrect, maybe give them a call.

A good video. Not only is the opening of that letter threatening, but it is also insulting. It accuses people of dishonesty at the very outset. The foundation of British justice is that a person is assumed innocent until proven guilty. However that's not how TV Licensing see it. The TV licence is written into the law of the land, so ultimately this outdated piece of legislation must be undone by the lawmakers, and that is parliament. I should say this gentleman should make very strong protest to his MP. He is right to object to being threatened and also as I say insulted by TV licensing. The MP needs to take that up through the parliamentary channels. Although the law allows TV Licensing to collect the licence fees, which part of the law allows them to threaten and insult the general public in doing so? That is the question the MP needs to answer here.
Citizens Advice Bureau, they may help....but when I first into my flat a couple of years ago, I had letters from them... I explained on their website that I just use a TV for computer games, watching internet and alike. I told them I haven't even got an aerial connected so I can't watch terrestrial ..TV. so eventually they stopped sending me letters...
I couldn,t watch Netflix last night because I forgot to put sufficient funds in the bank for the DD. Says it all really. I pay for what I want.
If only people would realise, it is NOT illegal to not own a tv licence, just do not watch any live tv or record it, I just cancelled my licence, had a six month refund and a great deal of satisfaction knowing that I no longer fund this appalling corporation.

I havent had a license for 8 years and ive never opened one of their letters and ive never answered the door to them even when they came with a 'warrant' and the police. I told them through an open window you have a warrant break my door down. Well the door didnt get broke down and they scuttled off with their tails between their legs. I havent watched live T.V. for years why would i want to watch something when they want me to watch it.

here in Norway, if you buy a tv,dvd player and such, you will automaticly get to pay tv license, if you don't want it, you need to pay a hefty sum for a tv man to come and plug up your antenna so you can't put a cable in it....however, if i have understood it correct, everyone pay license through tax or something now....same as the years tax to drive on the roads are no paid through your car insurance so that increased as well....that's Norway for you

Don't write to them. You just pop up their radar if you do, you're flagging yourself up for attention. Ignore them completely. Ignore all letters. If you get a visit DON'T talk to them, just shut the door in their paedo supporting faces.

I have collected all the letters and visit slips and will be putting another video up on my channel, maybe asking people's advise on what they think i should do with these threat letters. Under Section 2 of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997, it is a criminal offence of harassment to make demands for money in such a manner that it causes alarm, distress or intimidation. This is the case no matter what method you use to make contact - whether by telephone, email, letter or in person. Punishment on conviction is six months imprisonment and/or a level 5 fine of up to £5,000, plus legal costs. In other words you are breaking the law.

Might be worth noting that the reason why they send letters, in volume with these 'threats' is because they're largely successful at getting people to respond, pay or contact them. This process was conjured up by the police when they were failing to convict bent coppers, after spending millions chasing, stalking and whatever else to convict a bad police person, it turned out that sending a '10p' letter with a vague threat was enough to scare the little runts into leaving their position in the force or confessing because of a threatening letter. This is the reason why BBC licensing send out letters at mass because a lot of people respond, pay up or contact them.
You're not bound by law to respond to them, if you're obeying the rules and are within legal footing.
You don't need a licence to own a TV, but if it is tuned into receiving live broadcast or holds digital content from BBC iPlayer then you will need a TV licence.
It's also important to note, they can request legal access to all of your digital devices to check that you're not breaking the rules. (Phones, Tablets, PC's and TV's)

They have to see you watching TV or hear it but it doesn't matter they will lie that they have, I never brought one for my first house as I couldn't afford the telly nevermind the licence, I was more into music, enforcement officers showed up I told them to bog off I haven't a telly, They came back with a fraudulent warrant which they got by saying they saw a TV though the window.

I contacted the TV Licensing Dept at the BBC and told them to stop their letters, or else. That was over 5 years ago and never had a letter or visit since. Don't bother communicating with TV Licensing (CAPITA) as your wasting your time.
I have an old laptop computer on which I get onto facebook. ebay, you tube and amazon. I do not have or want or need a television. Am I in anyway breaking any law regarding a tv licence?

No, You are not breaking any laws. You ONLY need a TV licence if you watch or record LIVE broadcasts on any channel using any device or if you want to use the BBC iPlayer to watch catch up TV. You don't require a TV licence to use the internet and you can use your laptop to watch ITV Hub, My5, All 4, UKTV Play and any other on demand TV
