Seattle Slew is a hero. Against all the odds from the critics and won the Triple Crown is priceless for a horse with a price tag of 17500, he silenced them all. RIP Seattle Slew. Thanks for the video !
This was an emotionally inspiring video! I believe in my heart that SEATTLE SLEW was the most complete thoroughbred in the history of the industry. He was as great of a stallion as he was a racehorse. One of his greatest sons was SWALE. I wrote a book all about his life. It is entitled: GRIT AND VALOR: THE STORY OF SWALE.
How on earth did I not see this video before??? This is what Horse-Racing needs now!!!. A NFL Style highlight. Chic Anderson had the perfect narrators voice - similar in tone and eloquence to John Facenda. Thank you for this - 5 Stars, Slew is one of the chosen Few
@FORESTDONS Seattle Slew is intriguing. Secretariat was a physical wonder, who could race PERFECTLY - almost seemed effortless for Sec: he was just a PHENOMENON. Slew seems to have been a Warrior. Barbaro seemed like Secretariat in the KD. It's TRAGIC that Barbaro was injured - what a terrible loss;Barbaro was an amazing & Beautiful racehorse.
This is when a horse was truly trained, they blew him out the day before the Belmont :) ..yup this is why we don't have 3x winners anymore, they are not trained for it. I remenber hearing Barbaro went for 5 mile "jogs" frequently...it showed :)
I hope you get your 2008 triple crown winner compilation ready, because Big Brown looked like Secretariat today at the Preakness..He could have held a lead for AT LEAST another 1/2 mile if he wanted to
Hmmm... breezing a horse ONE DAY before a Gr. 1 race... the most important one of his career. A trainer nowadays would look at you and think you're crazy if you even suggest this be done. Nevermind Lasix. We haven't had a Triple Crown winner in decades because a) trainers aren't training for one, and b) breeders aren't breeding for one.

RIP Seattle Slew.
Thanks for the video !
My all time favorite racehorse, a street fighter. He bulldozed his way through the crowd. I miss him and his war dance.
Slew was such a handsome stallion, one of my all time favourites along with Ruffian, Man O'War and Kincsem.
thanks much for sharing it.

My favorite all time race horse!

he's amazing !
Thanks for your help. I'll make sure I try this when I get home from work. I just enjoy watching Secretariat, Affirmed and Slew.
Long live the king.

Terrific music when Slew's in the paddock for the Belmont!

'A patient and friendly horse, Seattle Slew toys with his groom'... that's not how I understood the case! 'Eats his groom' was surely more like it?
Sadly, a sport where the primary athletes were faster in the past than they are now. Slew would have won this year's Belmont by 25 lengths.
Secretariat the king of the king.
Seattle Slew one of a kind.
Barbaro the uncrowned champion of triple crown

I don't know if it's my computer or if it's the video-but the video keeps freezing every few seconds and it's driving me batty.
