- ABS or PBT? Do keycaps material really affect sound? This is the Ultimate ABS vs PBT Keycaps sound tests comparison! Here's a comparison of ABS and PBT keycaps with Cherry, OEM, MT3 and SA profiles tested with Chosfox x JWK DD Linear switches and Kailh BOX White V2 Clicky switches!

I generally prefer the sound of thick ABS, but I do think a nice PBT set can feel really nice under the fingers in a way ABS just can't seem to do. Never an easy pick.
Yes, I think it's all a matter of personal preference...
@@ClickandThock Ofc. I just prefer the sound of thick ABS, but the feel of a nice PBT set, which makes it pretty hard to get a perfect set of keycaps :P

The thickness as well as the building quality does change the sound too. Like the Extended 2048 is 1.5mm thick, that's really a huge difference compared to Susuwatari 1.1mm, and the Cupid Valentine spacebar sounds so hollow ! 😨
You are right! Building and keycaps thickness make differences too! Cupid sound really hollow!

i prefer the PBT sound, but ABS can also sound nice. but the biggest difference in sound is the thickness of the keycap walls, imo.

ABS SA sounds better than PBT SA... Prefer PBT for other profiles.

Yes, for some reason the SA-PBT has a more clacky sound, the ABS version sounded nicer. Although the thickness is the same.

I don't know if I can trust Akko keycaps being PBT. Their keycaps shine very fast within few days and feel like ABS. Had a few sets and compared them myself, they don't sound like PBT due to them producing higher pitch sound than most of my PBT sets. Just my personal experience. They might use cheaper PBT material or falsely call them as that.
I don't think they falsely call keycaps PBT... But thickness have a grest impact on sound... Being double shot or dye sub too! But also production quality.
Make a comparison between plastic compounds, wood and metal! 😆

MT3 and OEM are my favorites in PBT. SA sounds too hollow

The oem profile on pbt double shoot is sound thock ?

Are you using any case foam?
Yes, these is a foam between plate and pcb!

Only thing worse than Cherry is ABS Cherry
