After watching this I ran to my pantry and took measurements for the make over I plan to do now! Thanks for the inspiration! The light color on the walls with the stained shelving looks fantastic!
Thank you so much! That's super exciting to hear about your pantry makeover!!
PERFECT TIMING !!! I moved my washer and dryer which was across the hall from my kitchen doorway because I saw this fabulous pantry and I want to copy it. It has corner shelves like you are making, but floor cabinets with drawers beneath the shelves. I've been puzzling over getting the plans right before I started building. Thanks for this video !
That is perfect timing!! That sounds awesome, cabinets and drawers will be wonderful!!
Love the corner shelves! Such a great use of the space.
Thanks Karen!!
You inspired me when I saw your first pantry last year and my pantry came out beautiful. Thank you.
That is so nice to hear, thanks so much😄
Well done. Fast and easy makeover. I've always loved simple wood shelving and a small wood support structure. This hits it.
Awesome, thank you!
I love this product !
Great job! I love the way turned out. I think I know what I want to work on next.😉
Thank you!!!
you make this look doable for me! thank you. I was looking for how to do something just like this for my back room where I need to make a permanent shelving system.
Happy to help, thank you!
Awesome - I will be building this with similar supplies this weekend!
Yesss!
looks great!!!
Thank you!
Great video. Thank you!
Glad you found it helpful!
Thank you for your video, I will do my first diy- pantry upgrade accordingly.
Thank you so much, that is awesome to hear!
Awesome job
Thank you!
Great idea using 2x2s for the nailing strips instead of like a 1x3. Gives more support and allows you to catch it better when you're attaching the back edge of the shelves, whether you're using nails or screws, and because the wall is somewhat in the way of whatever nail or screw gun you're using.
Exactly! Thanks so much!
This is perfect and exactly what I wanted to do.
Thank you!
Thank you for doing this excellent video! What size screws did you use for the back wall support, side wall supports and the middle supports?
Interesting to see you chose to paint the pantry walls with black paint because just this morning I wondered how that would work. You’re right, just too dark, but it sure was nice!
Haha yes it was way too dark! That's the best part about paint thought, it's so easy to change your mind!
Hah, i was thinking the same thing as you painted it dark.
"My pantry doesnt have a light.. that'd be way too dark"
FYI for your DYI… no need to have those huge holes from the large hangers. You can pull the center nails out with a flathead screwdriver and leaves small holes… No need for a pry bar
How much weight will these shelves hold? Can they support a full shelf of cans and appliances?
I was thinking the same thing. I doubt these shelves can hold a lot of weight, but I'm sure you can double or triple stack cans. My wire rack panty shelfs are held together with just 7 non robust fasteners and they are holding three stacked cans just fine.
How long it takes for do it?
Hi Miss Angela, my wife came to me yesterday with a new project where she wants to repalce the exact same Rubermade white wire pantry shelving with, ironically, the exact same type of corner floating wood shelving in your video! We are going to use this great video as our go-to how-to reference guide for building our solid wood pantry shelves. Right down to the color of the shelving stain and the white paint for the front shelving trim and supports. Thanks so very much for this great build tutorial, along with all of the links you provided! Can you answer one question, please? What is the design program you use to create the shop drawing of the pantry shelves? I want to create a similar set of drawings for our project. Please have a great day!
Hey, thank you so much for the positive feedback. As far as the design program we use is sketchup, they have a free version I believe that is probably enough for your basic use, my biggest tip for using that is to learn the shortcut keys for the most common functions and it makes it much easier to use. Thanks again!
For anyone watching, don't use a pry bar to remove the anchors the way they did in the video. Just pull out the pin using pliers/flat screw driver and they come right out. No need to destroy your walls.
Overall design is good, going to do something similar in my pantry closet.
Thanks for the tip, definitely will try this! For the record, it did get the job done, lol but I'm always appreciative of constructive feedback.
What is that stain color or link? I love that color!
I used this color! amzn.to/2Rlzxim
can I ask what the dimensions of the actual closet were? trying to figure out if I have enough room with a 3' wide and 2' deep space for l shaped shelves. thanks.
The width was 37" and the depth was 13 3/4"!
Can you use the wire shelving as a guide for the measurements?
You want the shelves to go wall to wall so I would measure that exactly, but you can definitely use the shelves as a guide for the spacing!
Where did you buy your lumber at? I went to HD and looked at theirs, 2 x 2s are warped, edge glued panels are split and bowed 😢
Sometimes I have to go to Lowes if Home Depot has a poor selection, and vice versa! You can also see if there is a local lumber yard near you. You really have to dig through the pile too! The boards towards the front are often the most warped.
Very confused on you using Brad nailer on 2x2 board. What size Brad nails did you use?
I used 1 1/4″ brad nails!
Thanks so much. Realizing 2x2 isn’t necessarily 2x2!! 😂
How much weight do you think these shelves hold?
As much or more than the wire shelves I replaced, probably more because you are going into studs and each shelf is attached to the support boards.
No support needed? So these shelves will hold up heavy items?
There is a support in the middle - but yes they are pretty sturdy and can hold heavy items.
what type of wood did you use for the shelves
I used edge glued panel boards. I have the full material list here: angelamariemade.com/how-to-build-corner-pantry-shelves/
What size is the interior of this pantry? Great video
Thanks!
Not shelves...just interior walls. Trying to see if I can fit one in
And what size is your door? Thanks heaps!
The pantry is about 37" wide x 27" deep. I don't have the measurements for the door and we have since moved so I am not sure about the door.
I like your pantry very much can I know the dimensions
I have a diagram of the dimensions of my pantry in my blog post! 😊 angelamariemade.com/how-to-build-corner-pantry-shelves/
What's the paint brand and colour you use first?
gravel gray by Benjamin Moore
Why u paint white then dark then back to white? Did I miss something? Thank you! (For some reasons closed caption ain't work!)
I didn't end up liking the dark paint color I picked! It just made the pantry way too dark, so we re-painted with a light gray!
I bought the same stain that you used and my shelfs are super dark 😢
I'm sorry that happened! Different wood takes stain differently so it's always a good idea to test your stain in a small area of your project before applying to the whole thing so that you know you like how it looks on your particular project.
What program you use to create the templates on the iPad
It is a computer program called SketchUp!
@@AngelaMarieMade Oh okay thank you! Is it free?
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
😒Router the shelf edges, that cheap pine board is going to chip.
What is that stain color or link? I love that color!
I used this color! amzn.to/2Rlzxim
