  • It is a buyers market right now. The bicycle industry is crazy right now. Bike companies are over stocked on certain bikes while not having enough bikes in other models. It's a crazy time to be in the bike industry at the moment.

    I’ve been riding for well over 50 years, when I go to shops now I’m shocked by the cost of some manufacturers products. Trek, Specialized, Giant, in my opinion, have priced themselves out of business. Small shops suffer, mega stores sell crap bikes, no doubt there will be an industry adjustment.
    Great job Jason, always entertaining, like Ike!
    Cheers. Rick

      President , John Burke , reported reducing the product range is just around the corner for Trek , as well as cutting back stock volume . A Trek only dealer not far from me is struggling and laying off staff .

    Part of the problem was the Covid turmoil where everyone bought bikes due to boredom to then realise that it takes a ton of time to develop the skills and endurance to enjoy MTBing as now the market is flooded with practically brand new , used bikes as most of these people quit after 2 or 3 rides. The other problem that nobody seems to mention is that E-Bikes are taking over as the average American is lazy these days. Residing in the small city of Manchester NH , where I ride through the city and all the local rail trails about 4-5 times a week to build up endurance for my bike packing and mountain biking adventures. I've noticed that about 50% of people are now riding E-bikes . The majority of the E-bikes that I see are not quality bike store bikes , as most are cheap Amazon E-bikes.
    Suspension bikes are also highly overpriced to the point of highway robbery, since you can get a brand new HONDA 250f Dirt Bike for $5,000, which requires considerably more material, parts, and labor to produce. They're also heavy and shipped in a wooden box crate, which isn't cheap. There's no full suspension bike on the planet that should cost more than $5,000, unless it is a one-of-a-kind custom frame build as MTB'ers have fallen victim to marketing.
    For example , why does one aluminum seatpost cost $35 and the other $150? Is it special Aluminum mined from the moon? No it has a fancy brand name and consumers think it'll make you go faster due to being brainwashed by marketing.

    The reason y'all are my favorite bike shop is because y'all go out of the way for customer service. I live so far away I can't do much business with you, but even so, y'all took time out for me and treated me like I was part of your family that you hadn't seen in a long time. The bike knowledge y'all have is so far above my head it's not even funny and I consider myself better than average on the know-how. Finding y'all on Y.T. has made my day. May God bless y'all and have fun on those new bikes. Maybe y'all can get a break and we'll hit a trail sometime.

    Good looking bicycle. Diamondback has always been a fave of mine . I started out on a first year Silver Streak.
    Do you always true fresh wheels?
    You can always add a couple of accessories to your Diamondback to make it look a bit different so you’re not twinning!

      @@alloutbikes Jason , Robert McFadyen from Sydney , Australia . I hope you saw my silver / dark grey , TREK 4300 - 2009 custom build at Fulcher's Cyclery , Panania , Australia on Google images . At my height of 5ft 6in tall , this 26'er is my "sweet spot" bicycle with it's 16 inch seat tube measurement , and 53cm "centres" top tube measurement . I put Ride Now TPU schrader valve tubes in the Mitas Cobra 26 x 1.9 tyres to shave 300 grams weight off . The tubes are holding air at 50 psi , well in spite of other bad reviews about them on the web . She weighs 12 kg exactly . Originally a friend bought it but it was too small for them , they are 6ft 2in tall . Company owned dealers sometimes push sales of "wrong size for customer" to get a quick sale where I live and meet quotas . This happened to my friend . I built him a Giant Yukon in his size but he has only ridden it a few times . I don't ride often as I am losing sight in my left eye due to type 2 diabetes complications . I wish you well during this challenging time . I get work but it varies . My helpers are a Godsend . I couldn't stay in the bicycle game without them .

    Because of this video I bought this bike on March 31, 2024! Took me a couple days to find the deal but I found it for 50% off still. Should be at my doorstep April 5, 2024. Current bike is 2001 26" Specialized Hardtail. Had no intentions of buying a bike anytime soon but this bike was to good of a deal to pass up. Spent the same money on this bike as I did 23 years ago on my Specialized. Damn You for talking me out of my money! LOL!!! Thanks again for the video.

    It's nice if you want a "new" bike, but I'm happy with my 1990 Costco MTB and will ride it until the wheels fall off. Then I will get new wheels. Don't see where any of the new bikes have the same quality that my old bike has. Have upgraded it to a more upright style, and added an N380 rear hub for the CVT shifting. Love it and I ride at least 8 miles a day rain or shine.

    • @alloutbikes
      @alloutbikes  4 місяці тому

      It's simple. All my old bikes are brands I don't sell or brands that are out of business. It looks bad when you sell certain brands but you don't ride them. As far as quality.... your right. The quality is not as good but the technology and design is much better and that goes a long way in how well and how long the bike lasts. The drive train doesn't last as long but it does work a whole lot better. You can tell I like the older stuff from my other videos but when it comes to keeping up with the guys you gotta have a bit of an edge. Thanks for commenting.👍

    I didn’t do my homework like I should have - until AFTER the fact - ugh😅 - a little buyers remorse. A few weeks ago, I bought a new 2022 trek 9.8 XT - all in cost 5.6. Did I get robbed? I’m now wishing I did more homework. Don’t get me wrong, I love my trek, but now wondering if I could have done better with the price I paid. My budget was 5.5k.

    • @alloutbikes
      @alloutbikes  3 місяці тому +1

      No you didn't get robbed. It's mostly the sub $2000 bikes that they have to much of. You paid what they are going for. You have to understand that few people are in the position to spend that much money on a bike so they only make a small amount of your bike. What you need to do is grab your bike and go ride because I don't know about you but here the sun is shining and it's going to hit 70 degrees today!👍

    Bikes On Line in Australia are doing this with Polygon and hurting independent dealers of the brand . Canyon does this too as well as Wheeler - "Cycling Deal". Giant are "holding" MSRP through company owned stores but independent dealers undercut them . Why would this happen ?

    • @alloutbikes
      @alloutbikes  4 місяці тому

      I don't know what is going on. As far as the small shops undercutting the big Giant dealers it's probably because they are on the verge of bankruptcy. It's better to liquidate inventory and pay the bills maybe restructure a bit....? Your guess is as good as mine. I can say this. They probably have to many bikes and need to get rid of them.
