    I watched this video because my tripod sprinkler kept sticking. When I went to remove the sprinkler head for cleaning I found it was loose. I tightened it up and it started working fine. That was an easy fix!

    Many of times it’s the ricochet flapper spring, they come to weak from the factory or weaken over time. The spring is to weak to bring the flapper into the stream of water and it stalls. Just take to spring hook out and turn the spring a half of turn around attracting the hook on the other end, giving it more tension, or you can cut the spring a little bit and bend a new hook at the end if you have no place to attach the hook after a half turn, with it being shorter it will also increase the tension. Please do simpler trouble shoots like shown above if all else false and is still stalling your spring is to weak and I recommend tensioning it like i described. It has always worked for me when all else fails.

      Ya, the springs are TOO WEAK many times -- I hope it doesn't take me two weeks to fix mine to get it running again just to water my front lawn! I should have stored mine for winter rather than leaving it out in the cold exposed to the elements. Salt from the ocean nearby depletes 1/3 of the life of everything here.

    This was great. I had the same issue you mentioned where the top just gets stuck and your tip helped me fix it. Thank you!

    😮that’s the exact one I have and it also tipped over!!! I’m gonna go try it RIGHT NOW!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
    🫢Oh my word it totally WORKED!!!!🎉🎉🎉 I can’t even tell you how happy I am!!!! Some little piece of rubber came out 🤷🏽‍♀️ so maybe that was messing with it? I didn’t know you could unscrew it! Plus the connection point leaked like CRAZY! So I checked the washer. It was toast. Put a new one in…😮😳😫…NO DRIP!!! Thank you sooooohooo much for sharing! I was gonna be so totally depressed cause that sprinkler is my life(in the yard😁)! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Thank you, thank you! Works even better now! 🥳

      That rubber piece is probably the o-ring that prevents leaks through the metal threading

      @@BK-cx7qi yes, it was old and coming apart. So the new one helped it stop leaking, and it sprays so much better!!! So thanks for all your tips and for sharing, it really helped! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    Thank YOU!
    I’ve looked for the specs of how the springs should be set and working, you’re the first one who address this!

    Thank you, I used your "trick" and it worked perfectly well for my VYR-65 sprinkler that stopped rotating. Thank you very much. Greetings from The Netherlands.

    Thanks for helpful video. Tightening the sprinkler with pliers and adjusting the top chrome flapper fixed the issue for me

    Thanks for making this video. It's hard to find one that talks about anything other than adjusting the diffuser plate or the pin or how far it goes around in a circle. Turns out I had two problems. 1) There was a massive bunch of crud in the hose connection. Duh.... 2) As others have said, the rotational spring can get quite weak and it's good to experiment with different tensions and anchor points.

    Soaked mine in vinegar to get some of the hard water off, also saw that a metal piece was bent and was restricting the head from turning freely. Thanks for the great ideas.

    My issue turned out to be a clog in the small nozzle where the water comes out. I just unscrewed it and poked the stuff out with a toothpick. Then rinsed, screwed back in and it was working great.

      So that was my first assumption when they tipped over, when that wasn’t it I figured this method out

  • @joelichtenwaltersstandup876

    worked like a charm. All I did extra was spray some cleaner down the tube once I had it detached from base.

    • @BK-cx7qi
      @BK-cx7qi  6 місяців тому

      @@lelovsky. The water pressure pushes against the spring that causes it to bounce slightly further than it was on the prior rotation. Did you try flicking the thing that I showed you?

    My deflector shield is loose and won't tighten. Flips down every time and won't stay up. Doesn't have a nut so I can't tighten it.

    I'm having buyer's remorse. Bought three of these last year. One didn't work right away (wouldn't oscillate), and now, a second isn't oscillating after being carefully stored away for the winter. When they works, they work well, but why can't they last longer?

    • @BK-cx7qi
      @BK-cx7qi  Рік тому +2

      I feel like the physics of the oscillation and it working directly off of pressure makes them inherently flimsy, because water has to knock it around. It's a bit of a paradox.

    Mine won't do the return from the end. It just sits and sprays at the very end. Any idea what the issue is? It's less than a month old

      When it hits the reset switch pin does it flick over? I’m sure there is proper terminology but when that pin resets it oscillates back to the start. This seems like an obvious thing but I’d watch it and see what happens when it hits that pin.

      Check your spring in the trip mechanism. Make sure it's not missing or connected to the mechanism properly. When the pin pushes on it it trips the mechanism holding the arm in place therefore initiating reverse. Make sure both the top and bottom part of the mechanism moves freely. Make sure the part that holds the arm is not bent either.

    Bearings sticking? I wouldnt expect orbit heads to last very long. Their popups are very poor quality, with seals breaking and water leaking everywhere. Glad you were able to get it going again, but don't expect too much out of these. It sucks everyone went to the cheap design of impacts, the older ones back in the 70s and 80s and up the Brass ones made by rainbird, nelson, melnor, etc were great if they were serviced regularly. Remember the old Nelson Beta II and Alpha II? Those are unicorns and i have a few of each. Still work great to this day.
