Last week I tried to pollinate my cayenne with pollen from the chocolate habanero (store bought - not from seed) but we got a heat wave and I think that did it, the flower dropped. I had put a small piece of twist-tie to mark it, but I'll try again with your method. I've crossed other varieties of plants in the past, just not peppers! Others I have that are flowering, orange habanero, red scotch bonnet, and trinidad scorpion. Later in the season should see carolina reapers, scotch orange brains, a more traditional labuyo from the gf's old country, orange bells, and we'll see what else. Keep the amazing videos coming man. I think a lot of people are seeing these and learning these simple, yet productive ways of growing one's own food. You should see my kratky lettuces, spinach, bokchois, swiss chards, its awesome! Thank you so much for showing us all these skills! J
This is just what I was looking for! Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge of peppers constantly, it really has made the community amazing.
I'm just at the stage of learning to grow peppers so crossing them isn't something I'd do any time soon. But this video was so fascinating/interesting/informative to me! Thanks for sharing!
Khang I think I’ve done it, my “almost heatless” Carolina reaper is now about as hot as a habanero in most cases and Is practically the same as a jalapeño In some cases. I’m surprised it only took about 3 years to get it to be like this but it’s bigger than a reaper but still has the same shape. It is a hybrid btw
Khang Starr Thanks! I only have one plant right now but I have some extra seeds i just harvested. I’m most likely going to grow them out for any particularly great pods but I can send some your way if you ever want them.
Khang Starr Great! When the low heat seeds produce, I’ll send you a pack of seeds along with a pod so you can guarantee getting them to grow and be able to try one. They are still a little unpredictable though and there have been times I bit into one thinking it would be low heat but instead the wrath of a volcano was unleashed onto me.
do you let the fruit dry on the plant to make sure the seeds are ready? right now i have something like that one you have with a lot of fruits and a black pearl pepper plant i might try to cross those just too see what happens.
Hi Khang, i am new to growing plants. i want to try and grow the white thai and/or any of the variety you’ve created, was wondering where i can get the seeds.
ive crossed a few peppers, i created a pepper i call dragon fang, and the other i call it the mini screaming bell. thank you for showing how to do this
Hi I know it's an old video, but hopefully you might be able to help me. I tried various crossings outdoors but the flowers always drop with the zip bags ( I tried multiple times cutting the bag to get more airflow but still no luck) I managed to build small bags out of paper tea bags that work partially, because still they drop from the flower when they get wet from rain or dew. It would be incredibly easy if I just left the emasculated and pollinated flowers without any covering, but I'm afraid they will cross with unwanted pollen. Will insects come to emasculated flowers without any petals? Can they be pollinated by wind with unwanted pollen? If left uncovered?
Thanks for the advice! I want to cross pollinate two peppers this season. I've already got one hybrid from two years ago, but it happened accidentally.
I am a first time pepper grower. I have question regarding Outdoor Hydroponics using the Simple Deep Water Culture. What is the simplest way to keep my water cool in the hot sun. Some have suggested using aluminium foil around the bucket. Any ideas please?
Pretty awesome my friend! I remember watching the other video you made about this but still haven't tried crossing any peppers. I'll leave that to the pros like you :)
I'm planning on crossing a Dragon Cayenne (which is already a Thai x Cayenne cross) with a Bahamian Goat... curious to see what will happen. Khang I'm curious, what happens when you cross a hot pepper with a normal bell pepper? Have you ever tried it?
Successfully crossed a Reaper with a Fidalgo Roxa, a Violett Cables with a Fidalgo Roxa, a Reaper with Violett Cables and all vice versa. Can't wait to put them in soil again!
I learned a lot from your video man thank u Man & I try to do de same from your technique of making a new variety watching from Davao city Philippines 🌿🌿🌿🌿
Hi Khang, great video by the way. Now, how long do you leave the bag on for after you see the pepper if you don't mind me asking. Also, I'm thinking of growing eight different varieties between two 2ft x 2ft grow tents but I don't want them cross pollinating as I want to try the original pepper. I plan to keep them pruned and small. Is it a bad idea to have four different varieties in each tent? I purchased eight different varieties of seeds and want to try them all ol. Cheers and thanks 👍
pa maj, once pepper has formed, you can remove the bag but make sure you label it. If you can keep the plant alive over winter, you can just eat the peppers from the original plants without worrying it cross pollinating. However if you want to keep the seeds from the original plants, then you will have to isolate the plants or isolate the flowers and pollinate as shown in this video with the original plant’s pollen. Hope this helps.

Great video! Can the small container method be used for Tomato plants also? Thanks!

Why not put indoors next to screened window or something? Maybe put in partial afternoon shade spot?

Great explanation sir. I plan on doing some cross pollinating tomorrow!
thanks for this instructive video.
Greetings from the Galilee.
So once it fruit you take the seeds in that fruit to plant? Then when that grows it will be a different fruit?
That is the plan.
I didn't want to watch your videos this year because i was waay to late with mine and yes you got peppers ready already 😭😆
Nice! I will be crossing a Carolina Reapers with pimientos. To get some sweetness with heat. Looking forward to it!

Those peppers look good!!! 🌶

My pepper flowers are way too small. They just keep falling off and they are not normal sized. I don't know what to do?
Also it is on my ghost pepper plant. I don't know if that helps and figuring anyting else.
I tried cross pollinating two times before without any sucses at all, but i'll try it again when i get the oppertunity.
Could you please tell me the name of the pepper plant with all those tiny peppers sticking up?
It looks like a Thai pepper to me
Bird eye chilli
Taking notes. 🙏🏼🌱🙌🏼
Why do you need a bag around the impregnated stigma? How many time can you knock up a female?
Can you make a video about mosaic virus in peppers?
Good idea boss.
Needed this one. Have trouble outdoors
I have what i thought was bell pepper but it seems to make peppers that look like jalapeno, i will give it time and see what is going on.
As always good info, gonna try to make spicy bell peppers
High wind storm pulled one flower off, will try again soon.
Great information once again

If success when it's safe take plastic bag off ? Look like you still leave it on after success.
Yes, take off and use a color code zip tie. Make sure to note the code with the names.
