I finally got to try this recipe last night. It was a hit with my husband and daughter. Completely agree that the combination of savory filling and sweet ginger syrup brings these glutinous balls to a whole new level.
I love you recipes, you explain so simple. It is So helpful, married with a Vietnamese I cook some of your recipes and my husband love it 😊 Thank you so much
Hi Helen!!!! Thank you so much for making these yummy videos. I made this, the che with the mung beans and the heo quay today!!!! Turned out great!!! Thanks!!!!
You might even want to try mochi!!! There are many versions but mainly two, a traditional Japanese style rice dessert filled with red azuki beans, or a modern mochi that is the same sweetened, glutinous rice ball, but filled with ice cream!!!
I love the way you cook the filling -- Mung beans cooked in the rice cooking ! So fast and easy ! To have mung bean filling for the Tang Yuan, we called, is new and interesting as we add in Black Sesame seeds filling. Is good to learn something new from other countries. We cook the syrup with Pandan leaves , ginger. Thanks for sharing Helen ! Have a nice day !
HOT POT PLEASE!!! One of my fave dishes!!! U read my mind today Helen! I love this dessert and I was just going on UA-cam to try an find a recipe when I saw ur video!!! Now I don't have to pay $4 USD for 2 dumplings any more yay!!! :)
Thank you for the wonderful recipes, every time it comes out delicious, my family and friends love you for it,! :-) please do the beef and vinegar hot pot! Yummy!
My favorite sweet "soup" dessert!! So delicious!! When I made these growing up, we never used fried shallots. My sister-in-law from Northern Vietnam, makes it with fried green onions and that's really tasty! I love the little balls made over from the leftover dough. I've never seen the small balls with the sugar cubes in them, though. Oh, you forgot to put coconut milk in your bowl at the end. :)
Bua nay tu nhien thay nho nha qua lai nhin thay video nay cua Helen nen minh bat tay vao lam ngay banh troi! Bay gio dang vua an vua comment day nay :). Da cai con nho nha. Thank you Helen.

Thanks helen so much for making these famous vietnamese dishes known to the world. Please keep these awesome videos coming. By the way, I have a question. I want to mix pureed pumpkin in the dough, but not sure what the ratio of flour, pumpkin, and liquid should be. What do you suggest? Oh, and by the way, can you make a video on Cao Lau? Thank you.
Bring. Back a lot of memory....spent so many times making them with my Mom, and she's gone for 26 years already. thanks Helen!

i use to not like the mung bean fillings so i would secretly eat all the rice ball pearls lol
thehamsterlover100 me too😄😄😄
+thehamsterlover100 You can use red bean paste or coconut (normally in baking section) instead
Hehehe eating only the small pearls was illegal in my household, which is why I kept doing it. But now as I'm older, I do enjoy both :)
Me too as a kid

Beautiful eyes and smile, thanks for the vid :)
more fragrant ( if you like fried shallot) and a little savoury. So it creates good contrast with the sweet syrup :D
I love to eat chewy food
Luv your videos! .. Keep up the awesome job:)
ginger soup is genius
it depends how thick you shape the dough. Normally it is cooked when it floats to the surface
