The first time I heard Bohemian Rhapsody was when I was 6 years old in 1975 growing up in North Wembley, London, England. I loved it back then, and I will love it till the day I die (hopefully many, many decades from now). Everyone should hear Bohemian Rhapsody once before they die.

I love eatching these kids discover Queen. Bohemian Rhapsody is my favorite song and Queen is my favorite band. I'm jealous that they are seeing Freddie for the first time. It never gets old.
ALSO, Very first part of this song when Freddy is playing the piano and singing solo and then you’ll hear the harmonies come in that is all Freddie Mercury! He would seeing various overdubs of the vocals to harmonize and then he put the tracks together, The band did the same thing with the operatic part except that they had three part harmony overdubbed overdubbed like 14 tracks. Nowadays they can do hundreds of tracks, but that’s because everything is computerized; and if they don’t like a part of the song they can just go onto the computer and edit it. The way they had to make records back in the early days up until the mid to late 1990s is take a little razor and cut out a part of the tape that you don’t want in the song and then tape it back together with scotch tape. It was very difficult and time-consuming on top of fearing that you would totally screw up the record. I have such great respect for these bands that were popular in the 1950’s, 1960s 70s and 80s because that’s how they had to do their music.. more work & more talent!

Sunshine, that was number one in the UK, xmas 1975. No digital then and all achieved using analogue techniques. The records company did not think it would get anywhere because it was too long. But, for some reason, us Brits made it number one :) The 1970s was a great decade of music.

Just in case this isn't another complete April fools joke, yeah, Queen is British and the members are named Freddie Mercury (dark hair, lead singer who died in 1991 due to aids complications), the drummer (long blond hair) is Roger Taylor, the guitarist (long, dark, naturally, curly hair) is Brian May and the bass guitarist is John Deacon and they first started in the 70's and were huge through into the 80's and 90's (therefore the long hair and the flashy costumes were all the rage then). its incredible for the past 40+ years Queen is still considered to be one of the most popular bands ever! Making this song and music video at the time was actually a huge gamble for them cause it had never been done before and would either make or break them. The whole part in the song about the mother and "killing a man" a lot of people think its possibly the lead singer, Freddie Mercury coming to terms with being bisexual and in the 70's that was way taboo. Through the song he could be telling his mom and all his loved ones that the old straight Freddie they used to know is "dead'. However, its left open to interpretation, thats just one of them. These guys still stand up today because they sound just as good or even better live alongside their studio recordings cause of their pure talent and even now their works are a breath of fresh air. Queen's music is so diverse, timeless and put the "rage" in outrageous! have fun!
Just to add to that, this track when it first came out wasn't at all popular and was shunned by the radio stations at the time and it wasn't until Kenny Everett (a '70's DJ and TV comedian) promoted it on his radio show on London's Capital Radio and kept playing it when it eventually took off and became a massive worldwide hit after that!

I actually watched Bohemian Rhapsody the film over the weekend and it certainly gave me great insight into what I didn't already know of their story which was admittedly most of it. Freddy really was an interesting individual. To be honest, while I do know most of their biggest hits and a fair bit of their back catalogue, the film definitely highlighted some of the gaps in my Queen knowledge and how much I still need to explore. I probably will now go on a bit of a journey through their music with the context I now have. It should be great fun!

Sunshine, that was number one in the UK, xmas 1975. No digital then and all achieved using analogue techniques. The records company did not think it would get anywhere because it was too long. But, for some reason, us Brits made it number one :) The 1970s was a great decade of music.

That was my generation...and I am so glad that I got to be a teen during the generation of the Greatest Rock bands of all time.It was innovation and trailblazing in those days. They are magnificent. Check out Adam Lambert with Queen. He is different, but excellent too. Queen was on top for many years when Freddy Mercury died they took time off. Freddy was there lead singer.
I thought it was a bit suspicious that you talk with a British accent and you have not heard of Queen. I think you are right that there are so many fakers saying they never heard of Queen and/or Bohemian Rhapsody. Freddie Mercury,(best singer of all time according to science, and me 😁) the lead singer very much unfortunately passed away from AIDS in 1991 😭 The drummer, Roger Taylor, and the guitarist, Brian May, are still going but with Adam Lambert as their lead singer now, but they don't do new music as a group, they sing all their old songs. Just in case this isn't another complete April fools joke, yeah, Queen is British and the members are named Freddie Mercury (dark hair, lead singer who died in 1991 due to aids complications), the drummer (long blond hair) is Roger Taylor, the guitarist (long, dark, naturally, curly hair) is Brian May and the bass guitarist is John Deacon and they first started in the 70's and were huge through into the 80's and 90's (therefore the long hair and the flashy costumes were all the rage then). its incredible for the past 40+ years Queen is still considered to be one of the most popular bands ever! Making this song and music video at the time was actually a huge gamble for them cause it had never been done before and would either make or break them. The whole part in the song about the mother and "killing a man" a lot of people think its possibly the lead singer, Freddie Mercury coming to terms with being bisexual and in the 70's that was way taboo. Through the song he could be telling his mom and all his loved ones that the old straight Freddie they used to know is "dead'. However, its left open to interpretation, thats just one of them. These guys still stand up today because they sound just as good or even better live alongside their studio recordings cause of their pure talent and even now their works are a breath of fresh air. Queen's music is so diverse, timeless and put the "rage" in outrageous! have fun!
Just to add to that, this track when it first came out wasn't at all popular and was shunned by the radio stations at the time and it wasn't until Kenny Everett (a '70's DJ and TV comedian) promoted it on his radio show on London's Capital Radio and kept playing it when it eventually took off and became a massive worldwide hit after that!

Yep, you got it right at the start there, it was for April fools! Still though, I do appreciate the information regardless! I actually watched Bohemian Rhapsody the film over the weekend and it certainly gave me great insight into what I didn't already know of their story which was admittedly most of it. Freddy really was an interesting individual. To be honest, while I do know most of their biggest hits and a fair bit of their back catalogue, the film definitely highlighted some of the gaps in my Queen knowledge and how much I still need to explore. I probably will now go on a bit of a journey through their music with the context I now have. It should be great fun!
