How about Mikey Smith 10wide, huge middle move on ReachTheWorld? He did save ground early, but this is one to watch going forward. Too bad he got a late start and only has 10 Points on the road to the KY Derby. Tapit breeding is dirt and turf, but the presence of Galileo as the broodmare sire bodes extremely well for turf going forward.
Hey, genius, learn how to read. Nowhere did I say that ReachTheWorld needs more distance. I simply said that he was floated way wide and still ran on late. I happen to agree with you that the Belmont typically favors speed. I cashed a big bet a few years ago on Palace Malice for the very reason you stated. Positional speed is often an overlay there as the masses are deluded into thinking closers will relish the added ground. The other poster simply stated that he feels the horse is headed to New York. When I referenced "late start" I was talking about his career, not him being a closer.
Birmingham Finest, I agree with much of your theory on times and Beyers meaning jack squat. In fact, I love when I see a phony inflated Beyer on some lone speed (day of inflated Beyer) chalk pretender. Immediate toss-out, especially if there's any other speed in the face. You can make a fortune playing against fake Beyers earned on "concrete" runways. All this said, you are a fool if you dismiss breeding when handicapping Turf.
Gormley was my first pick to win the KY Derby awhile back. THEN he went DOWNHILL like he was riding a toboggan. BUT I said I would STAY with Gormley. Obviously they ALL need a rest or need a vitamin B shot. OR are we just spoiled and think after watching Great horses like Chrome, American Pharoah, Dortmund battling Chrome, Arrogate battling Chrome and winning.....I mean THOSE horses left the rest of the pack in the dust. THEY were race horses fighting for the win. Not sure any of them I see now KNOW HOW t0 fight so I'm sticking with Gormley. I wonder if we'll ever see Speed, guts and glory like we've seen the past 2 or 3 years ever again. Arrogate is resting now after his 2016 campaign and starting off 2017 winning the DWC. BUT.....he'll be back. AND I think he will have it real easy. LOL Might as well go for the Pegasus one more time in Jan.......I'm sure he'll win the $16million. THEN retire. No competition for Arrogate. Did Gun Runner retire? HE was magnificent in the DWC. They ALL were. Hopper's not done yet either. So this herd of 3yrs old have one heck of a whole year to go yet. LOL Be fun watching them.
This was a staggerfest to the wire and there was nothing wrong with the surface. When u go 40:24 the last 3f and get an 88 beyer? U don't deserve to win The Derby. It took GORMLEY forever to wear down BATTLE OF MIDWAY. Depending on what happens in The Arkansas Derby? I am aboard the IRISH WAR CRY bandwagon & I am not counting out GUNNEVARA
John Kaufmann Not like there's a ton of world beaters in this Derby. I agree they were slugging their way down the stretch but looked like Gormley had a little trouble running straight then figured it out and got up to win. He's a small win bet option for me if I can get him in the 10 or 12-1 range. can't count out the Socal runners imo
TMW If anything? In hindsight? I would have to give a look to BATTLE OF MIDWAY. Nakatani gave him no chance getting into a 3 way speed duel which was utterly ridiculous. Watching the replay of the race several times BATTLE OF MIDWAY at no point had a breather! The fact that WINSTAR bought the horse for undisclosed amount of $, a big rider switch to FLAVIEN PRAT and Hollendorfer saying the horse will rate off the pace is intriguing to me. He is not my top pick but have to throw him into the mix.
TMW. Have IRISH WAR CRY. As longshots go? I really believe LOOKIN AT LEE is begging for 10f. PATCH has a big time stamina pedigree for classic distances. I am not sold on HENCE. I hate the wise guy tag. As stated BATTLE OF MIDWAY if ridden properly. But this is why it is totally wide open this year.
Still fancy Irish War Cry, but agree with you on Lookin At Lee as a good long shot, I also have a feeling for Thunder Snow. Godolphin have had horses before that you would have thought were KY Derby horses and haven't sent them. That they are sending Thunder Snow makes me think its a live chance for the exotics at least
So happy for Gormley! Best of luck in Kentucky!!!!
1:25, the horse and jockey with the blue and pink silks looks like Zenyatta
Congrats to the Moss's!!

I can't see him winning the Kentucky Derby he doesn't have a good kick my pick to win the derby is Irish war cry.
That makes two of us
Irish War Cry
McCraken was my second. Then Irish War Cry. HEY, we'll find out SOON.
Taking McCraken with Irish War Cry, Gunnevera, and Always Dreaming in a superfecta box.
the horse from the Florida derby looks like the best but gromly had a little trouble in the first 16th had to steady and u know how Victor rides
I am happy with the results because the other rider was abusive to the horses cause the other horse tripped and bumped him in the beginning...
Irish war cry My pick for the derby
Literally EVERYONE thinks Irish war cry win win the derby.
Xbox Fanboy Wise guy horse, I'll pass
I thought hence was the wise guy horse.

Great point John K! I like Always Dreaming to win the Derby, with Hence or Patch getting 2nd.
