It is all crafted of one piece of pine. This is a special bird, a Karelian Cuckoo bird. The messenger of the angels is the Karelian Christmas bird. The Christmas Bird is also known as the Roof Cage, Baptism or Peace Dove. The Christmas Bird connects to the old folk religion, where the bird played an important role as a wiser, forward-looking, earth-to-sky messenger than other animals. The bird was also considered to be a catalyst for vegetation, a source of spring and heat, and a good guarantor of the crop. The Christmas bird is born of a dense, ground-smelling piece of coniferous wood in one piece. The bird is a masterpiece of knife handling!

I have one of these carved birds here in Colorado Springs. A friend gave it to me because I am a birder. What is this worth?
Minulla oli näitä sinun lintuja myynnissä Kaustisella keramiikkapajani myymälässä -90 luvulla. Itselläni on lintusi riippumassa vielä ikkunassani.
Kiitos myöhästynyt vastaus:)
