Konnichiwa lads. Erwin Smith may look stone cold, but he's VERY MUCH a human. Saw him CRY in this ep... falling SHORT on what's been doing FOR HIS OTOUSAN (dad), which is KNOWING THE TRUTH.
"Can you see them, Levi, our fallen comrades... they want to know what became of the hearts they gave" There are no words... even after all these years, there is no way I am not shedding tears when I hear Erwin's speech.
Shoutout to the often overlooked Jean moment. When everyone else is on the back foot, he's the one who can always focus up and get things moving. He may not be the tip of the spear, but in some ways he's just as crucial as Mikasa or Eren.
My Soldiers, Rage! My Soldiers, Scream! My Soldiers, Fight! Shinzo wo Sasageyo! Shinzo wo Sasageyo!✊ Damn after all these years i still have tears in my eyes he'll forever be remembered as the best commander ever
Erwin Smith is truly the Goat. What a man, what a legend, what a leader. While he was always obsessed with his childhood dream of discovering the truth, he did not hesitate for a second to develop a plan that put his life on the line, to allow Levi to defeat the Beast Titan, while even Levi had offered to sacrifice himself. Erwin in all his sincerity, loyalty and honor preferred to put all the luck on the side of humanity by agreeing to sacrifice himself. what a hell of a character
Imagine watching this season during its run, having to wait a whole week to find out what happened to Hange and Erwin and how they held up against beast, colossal, and now the armor. Never imagine being tortured by a show, and it just gets more painful in the future episodes. Great reaction as usual guys :D
The shivers in this episode!!!The leader, the speach, the sacrifice! What a plan!!! One of the best episodes of the anime!!!!Guys I love your enthusiasm!!!❤
@@Circus_act I totally agree! Actually there are more episodes that are my faves especially from the next season but the episodes you mentioned are toptiers! 😌👍
@@Circus_act he really is. He’s grown and come so far since the first season. literally a whole new man and we owe ✨h a l f✨ of it to Marco ok I’m sorry bye 😭
These three episodes are definitely some of the best in the series. You mentioned the elbow pads at 8:10, I'm pretty sure they are there to help fire the thunder spears.
The way this episode was set up, I get chills every time Erwin gives that speech... when Erwin sat down to tell Levi about his plan, he had to rest those big balls of his.. what a G, what a goat, idk any other anime character thatr makes me literally want to put on the cape and gear and go to hell with him. the best episode in my opinion. on to the next one!
Just fyi, Connie laugh historically when the colossal titan destroying the house is because he accidentally make a dad joke puns. He was shouting "Eren's house", but in the Japanese is "Eren no ie ga", it sounded like Eren Jaeger and he found it kinda fucked up yet funny...
i love you is "aishiteru" in Japanese, but it means more if you say "arigato" which means "Thank you", so a lot of Japonese people say "Thank you" instead of "I love you" when the person really means something to them, that is why Erwin during the conversation at 12:32 says thank you to Levi, because he truly loves him just like a brother would. (side note: I would really love to watch you guys reacting to this Erwin speech scene in english dub, which many say is even better than the original)
"I don’t order you to fight, I order you to die. In the time it takes us to die, other troops and commanders can come and take our places." Ataturk, in Gallipoli 1915
it hurts all over again but this just means they were written to perfection. characters that never existed in real life mean so much to us. thats what I believe movies and tv should be. creating a world that could be real with characters that live in them. chefs kiss.
you guys have no empathy towards these men who are afraid and not straight up marching to their deaths, It's called viewers bias, it's depicted best in Gladiator when Maximous throws his sword at the crowd yelling "Are you not entertained!?" . They're human beings, young ones, with jack shit for training, seeing death...
Ppl give Floch so much crap for being scared but like I get it 😭😭 they literally just saw the beast obliterate all the veterans in the corps with just a few scattershots and they’re new recruits. To me his speech was heartbreaking because of just how realistic it is. It’s an understandable reaction from a regular person who just saw all his friends and colleagues die. I think ppl forget that not everyone is as desensitized to violence as Mikasa is or full of enough rage to not give a f like Eren haha it’s very understandable why his speech and freak out felt kind of annoying in the middle of such a stressful situation though.
Finally the incredible foreshadowing of No Regrets comes around where Erwin said to Levi: "Don't. You'll regret it. Memories of regret will only dull your future decisions. And then you'll begin to let others make your choices for you. All that's left for you then is to die. Nobody can foretell the outcome. Each decision you make holds meaning only be affecting your next decision." Last episode we saw Erwin beginning to doubt himself and starting to regret his decisions, so now he let Levi make the final decision for him and all that is left is to die.
I also feel they still haven't caught on that the remaining serum is meant to be used to eat one of the three, not to create a pure titan to fight for them, let alone a bunch of deranged ones by splitting the single syringe.
Finally caught up😂 4 days late so there's no other way but to marathon all your AoT reaction just so I can catch up. And luckily, it's on this episode🔥 Now you know how the Armored Titan got his holes when he got beaten by the Beast Titan; image how strong his pitching is that it blew holes through the Armored Titan's body. Dang, can't wait til you upload the next one; so excited🔥🔥🔥
That red haired dudes fears and sentiments are quite intriguing....damn...AOT reaching goated hype levels. And yeah this is the speech that solidified it in me that erwin is the undisputed goat... This dude will hype you up for a suicide mission, and you'll gladly follow him
The level of decimation that the Beast Titan singlehandedly created is just so unbelievably sad. The scouts are just being taken out in droves. If it wasn't for Erwin and Armin they'd be completely wiped out. Also, y'all weren't freaked out enough by the quadruped talking titan for me 🤣
Erwin voice actor doing what they do best, i recommend jojos bizzare adventures for.more of him, s1 is abit slowish and weird but it takes off into amazingness
Oh it's already here Guess i should start watching your AoT reactions Only thing i know so far (from a KnY comment/reply you did) was that you didn't like Armin at the start
Konnichiwa lads. Erwin Smith may look stone cold, but he's VERY MUCH a human. Saw him CRY in this ep... falling SHORT on what's been doing FOR HIS OTOUSAN (dad), which is KNOWING THE TRUTH.
I am just amazing at the writing of the speech. I am not sure if Isayama actually got inspired by some past poets. The line 'the meaning of our lives are given by those who come after us' is so absolutely profound. I think espeically for that fictional culture that is created by AOT, which does not have a monotheistic religion. Like in a monotheistic religion you could have a philosophical ground for life and meaning in the supreme being. One might call upon the almighty God or invoke the 'dying for the glory of God' as a cause for an honorable death. But this is not valid in AOT. They have a wall religion but it seems to be an aristocratic religion that commoners and soldiers do not share. So this AOT culture is quite religiously diverse. And for pantheists one of the key concept of honour and value really comes from the fact that generations succeed each other. Horace write 'egō posterā crescam laude recens' I will grow ever novel in the praise of future generations. This is also a Confucian view I believe. This level and depth of writing I think is simply unparalleled. This is only one of consistent crystal clear explications of character motivations that seems to have deep roots in different cultures of human societies. Nothing but praise for this masterpiece.

"Give up your dream AND DIE!!!"

Erwin's speech gives me goosebumps every. single. time. This show is so stressful but so beautifully written at the same time🥲
