    Interesting information. Carbon monoxide poisoning is nothing to mess with. I’m a career firefighter, considering RV transport for a retirement gig, and your videos have provided me with a ton of useful information. I’ve been responding to carbon monoxide incidents for 27 years now, and I’ve never heard the EPA’s 9 ppm level before. I looked it up, and sure enough, that’s what the EPA and the WHO recommend for a safe 8 hour average. NIOSH says you can safely work in an environment that averages 35 ppm over an 8 hour day, 5 days a week, and have no permanent damage from the CO. OSHA raises that number to 50 ppm over the same time range. We use those numbers to assure homeowners that, yes, they do have an issue, but that it hasn’t reached a dangerous level yet. We shut the source down and tell them to have it professionally serviced before putting it back in service. Our training has also told us that CO detectors have traditionally been set to go off as soon as levels reach 35 ppm, out of an abundance of caution with those levels in mind. Whatever numbers you use, protecting yourself from CO poisoning is definitely something everyone who sleeps in their truck should do. Keep up the great work!

    Thank you much. I bought on at the local hardware store, I had no idea the ones for the home are not good for the truck. I will be getting a different one before I go back out.

    After a body shop ended up repairing my exhaust after a flash flood accident. I feel like there’s exhaust leaking into my cabin of my vehicle. I need a more affordable automotive carbon monoxide detector. I happen to be a Lyft & Uber Driver that drives 150 to 300 miles a day depending on how many passengers I pick up. Even though my Infiniti Q70L has a HEPA filter I do believe the carbon monoxide has already neutralized the carbon in the air filter. They replaced the catalytic converter and I feel like they might’ve not installed new gaskets between the header and the rest of the exhaust.

    Thank you for this info. Great device! Do the car carbon monoxide detector expires and have to buy one every 1-2 years?

      That's a really good question. I am going to have to look that up. I don't know the answer to that.

    Excellent presentation Tim! I always thought about this issue when I ran the big truck. By the way, I'll be reapplying to Horizon at the end of the month. They will accept apps without owning a truck. But I think I'll do driveway and if I like the lifestyle I'll be purchasing a truck.

    what does the alarm sound like? That's one thing I'm really interested in hearing especially for how small it is is it super loud or is it not that loud

    • @TravelinTim
      @TravelinTim  8 місяців тому

      It's not super loud but it's loud enough to hear. There are three levels of alert with sound and one visual alert that has a flashing light

      Sir, excellent video. I've been watching TV transport videos for a while now and this video may be the most important one I've seen about the business. I had never considered the threat, and have never heard any of the other transporters talk about it, thanks for sharing!

      I will have to check out High Mileage Helper's input too, he puts out good info as well. I'm a regular viewer and look forward to your next video. I spoke to the Wave recruiter today and it appears they do have the good mileage pay rates. I'm having a tough time deciding on which company to apply for, most of them seem to have their good traits.
