- In this video we explore the new Britannia series of gold, silver and platinum coins. Compare them to other modern bullion and show four different security features on these coins and finally ask if they are worth buying. Thanks for watching!
I stack silver and gold to hedge against our debt-fueled, fiat currency-based economy that I am convinced is in severe trouble. Consider stacking silver and gold yourself to help you build and preserve wealth. And thank you for watching Campbell’s Coins!

I'm glad the Britannia is getting the credit it deserves, it is cheap, secure and good looking.
Well said!
But for strictly stacking by weight, the Maple and others have lesser premium over spot. So technically, if you're vaulting bullion it doesn't matter unless you are targeting collectors for future resale.
@@TyroneBeiron I see, probably depends on market geography. Here in Spain Britannia's are cheaper than Maples (which are also cheap) because the Royal UK mint is close.
Currently, in America, most online dealers feature the Britannia at a lower cost than the Maple, the Kangaroo, the Philharmonic, and of course, the Buffalo.
@@loboplateadostacker what do you think is better for stacking in Spain maple leaf or Britannia? I’m not sure where to start my collection, I have found they cost almost the same
I absolutely love the gold britannia. It's my favorite gold coin in the world and I live in the US
It's a great coin Tim. Thanks for stopping by!
The Britannia is one of my favorites in both Gold and Silver.
Great! Does your silver have a lot of milk spots compared to other bullion or about the same?
@@CampbellsCoins Mine are spot free.
@Nick Right now the Maples sound like a much better option 👍🏻
Britannia's ROCK. They are my go to gold bullion. I buy at least a 1/2 oz each month no matter what. My LCS cannot keep enough in stock, and begs me to sell some to him. Great video as always. Yes, Britannia all the way. The US Mint blows in my opinion, and has a lot of growing up to do. They produce a crummy metals compared to the British, and Perth Mints.
Well said, I agree! Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed your informative video .
The content was spot on.
Compelling points - thank you!
My first gold coin was the britannia!!
Thanks for keeping us informed!
You bet! Appreciate your support.
I love the Brittania and it’s security features! Plus it’s 24K. 👍🏽🤩⭐️
100%
Thank you for the episode
It's nice to hear that an American like a coin outside the American continent!
I love the Britannias too. The best part - (most of the years) have the same diameter as Krugerrands, Eagles and Buffaloes making them fit the same storage system - those details matter if you like to diversify a little!
Great info on these features...very helpful! Stay safe sir.,and a wonderful week to you and your whole family!
Thanks, same to you and yours!
I'm a newbie! Glad I stumbled upon your channel...Thanks for the info!
Welcome to the stacking/collecting world of bullion! Appreciate you stopping by!
Man really appreciate your Chanel very informative keep up the good work
Thank you! I really appreciate your support and kind words!
Bravo Zulu! Excellent video. I have all the above coins. My favorite is Britannia, then Maples, then Eagles. Keep on stacking!
Good choice!
I’ve learned so much in regards to gold and precious metal investment, thanks to you!
Great to hear! Appreciate you watching!
Hey man great video im glad the Britannias are getting the love they need they are a true solid coin . Watching from the uk 🇬🇧👍
Thanks 👍 Appreciate you stopping by.
It is a darn good coin! Slowly adding some to my gold and silver stack!
Very nice!
My stack consists of more Britannia's than Maple Leafs, or misc rounds that I have. I only have one ASE. Maybe, just maybe, the Britannia will gain more popularity in the coming years and mine will become worth more than just spot. I think they are by far, my favorite bullion coin to look at.
Got my hands on some britania silvers this week. They look so good. Much love from Australia
Very nice! Thanks for stopping by!
The Britainia has one of the most beautiful designs.
I knew you'd like this video BA! Haha. It does, I have to admit it. I was wrong to ignore it for as long as I have. I want to like them more but that dang Q on the front is preventing me.
@@CampbellsCoins Her majesty the queen
I have a 1/2 0z . I'm in Canada . It is a beautiful coin . I did not know it is this safe . Wow
Always like the Britannia's design on the silver coins
Thank you for the video.
I love the britannia's factory blister... sealed, light, aditional security and not noisy.
Yes sir it’s definitely a buy and you don’t have to worry about fakes. The obverse golosh pattern is the 5th security feature that a bunch of us overlook.
I love the Maple and Britannia because both look nice and are pretty cheap
A low premium is music to my ears. While people keep overpaying for Eagles I’ll continue to get the most bang for my buck
Right on!
I love the Britannias with their 5 security features!
Britannias even got a lower premium than Krugerrands over here in South Africa.
Agreed a beautiful coin at a low premium, also love the gold queen's beast.
I am i big well sorta big ( 6 rolls ) of the Brits with the maples coming in a close 2nd,,,this is all silver my next move is to 1/4 oz gold and your 2 vids have helped me justify that decision. I will probably go with the maples to avoid the red spots ........... thx for the vids
Yeah Britannia's are my new favorites. Picked up a few 1oz silver and a 1/10 gold over the weekend.
Nice! Keep on stacking!
Ok. I'm supportively commenting to up your algorithm. But also, I like the diversification into outside mints. I wish that UK and Aussie coins got more love in the US from a liquidity/recognition standpoint.
I wish that was the case too. Part of the point of this vid. I appreciate you feeding the algorithm and your support!
This is a fine video. Good job!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Excellent video!
The liquidity issue with these coins is ridiculous to say the least!!!
The Britt is probably one of the best/top rated gold coins available to stackers.
I have the 1oz and the 1/4 oz and are two of my favorites.
Thanks man! Yeah I agree. There is some stigma surrounding these coins and I hope it changes, because they offer a lot more to people than I think most care to realize. I'm glad you already have a stacking going! Thanks for watching.
Love em all !

Best part of this video is who’s gonna counterfeit a face like this 🤣🤣🤣
This coin was MADE for you! Lol. Appreciate you man haha!
I started collecting 1/4 oz Britannia gold in 2021, primarily due to the great design, lower premiums, and the fact the security features are carried into their fractional pieces. My secondary pick when 1/4 oz Brits are unavailable is the 1/4 oz Maple. Will not accept less than spot if I were to sell. Will pick up a couple of 1 ounce pieces in the future to save on premiums.
Great! 1/4oz is a great size. Thanks for sharing with us!
Love the 9999 Buffalo! Have lots of the newer silver Brittanias - the most secure and beautiful coin out there! Guess I've been lucky, but no milk spots (yet).😎
Awesome! Fingers crossed it remains that way.
Thank you very much 😊
You're welcome 😊
So I was aware of everything you stated in this video. But why is it that after you explain something it just makes more sense? I mean I’m feeling like an idiot because I don’t have a 1 oz. Britannia in my stack now. Lol. Seriously though, you know how I feel about “Her Ugly Muglness,” but the reverse is a stunner! And perhaps those security features will drive up the demand once more stackers catch on. As for the U.S. Mint, they simply don’t care. And we still keep buying their products. I’m guilty as well! 🤷♂️😬 You may have sold me. Britannia will likely be my next purchase. Only drawback, like you said, is that resale liquidity. Amazing video bro.
Dude, I convinced myself haha. I was aware of all this too but I think I had a mental block up because of Her Ugly Muglness. Loved that you coined that btw. Pun intended. I couldn't agree more. I believe once more people see this series potential, it will "catch" on more. I'm sure @bullionaddict is yelling at his computer because he's been promoting this coin ever since I've known him lol. Love ya BA! The resale liquidity might not be a liquidity when more people buy in. I will always stack Gold eagles in fractional form but for this year, I'm grabbing these Brits in full ozs. Plus if you don't have one, can't hurt to have a little variety. Thanks as always bro!
@@CampbellsCoins I do love variety. Lol.
I think the Britannia rivals any bullion coin for beauty. I only have silver ones. But, I do want to add a gold Britannia to my collection.
I got to admit, I was wrong about them for so long. Add in the security features and it's a home run.
Check the Tudor beasts bullion coins coming now. RM is out doing themselves on security really. Just their QCQA is a bit subpar for the UK.
Am awaiting the arrival of a tenth oz Brit to go with my quarter. They are nice-looking, for sure.
Right on!
The Canadian portrait of late Queen Elizabeth II never looked like her at all.
I'm so glad none of my Britannia's that I've bought since 2014 (a tube a year) have any milk spots. I love them
That's awesome! They are a sweet coin.
Since I live in Canada, Maples is my primary choice. I will pick up the Britannias one day in the future, but it’s not a priority.
Definitely makes sense. Depends where you live.
I have always liked the Britannia's, in gold and silver. The Royal Mint does very good work IMHO. I buy the silver proofs every year. The design changes every year, and just about all do well over the years. Some do extremely well. I have no problem buying the gold either. I have a tube of the 1/10 ounce, and will add more over time.
Yeah definitely. I've had to adjust what's in my stack based on these newer Brits. Very well done. Thanks for watching and the thoughtful comment man! 😎👊
Good video !
Glad you enjoyed it!
I own more Britannias in silver and platinum than US mint, have some gold brits too and will buy more.
You showed the face of QEII on the Canadian Maple NOT the Britannia! The one on the Britannia was done by Jody Clarke, the one on the Maple is by Susanna Blunt.
Hello, this video popped up in my recommendations. I prefer St. Guadians or any pre'33 gold over any bullion. Get off the volatility scale and secure tangible gains with pre'33 gold.
Totally agree with you. A lot of folks don't like pre 33 and like to look at modern options. I do videos for both.
Absolutely agree on the Britannia. And with a price like that, how can you not? That's exactly why I love the Britannia's.
Stupid UA-cam, just got the notif a few minutes ago.
Lol no worries. I'm shocked more people aren't into the Brit but given my decade long prejudice against it, it does make sense haha. I was wrong.
@@CampbellsCoins I’m about to purchase my first gold coin. Even though I’m an American, I’ve decided on a 1 oz Britannia. My next will be a Buffalo.
I asked my LCS about getting some Britannias in stock and my willingness to buy them but they don’t seem to have any interest. So I’m stuck with eagles which make up the lion share of my stack. I could get them online for a decent price but my LCS always beats any price on their stock that I can find( SD bullion seems to consistently be the lowest) so my loyalty is to them.
Same with my LCS. They don't stock them because they can't sell them. SD is good, I agree with Pathetic Prepper, Monument is great, but they tend to have smaller stock.
That’s good to know about the tax implications.
Super odd that a foreign coin wouldn’t be regulated the same as other foreign counterparts. Whatever the case, looks like I have more stacking to do!
Yeah, it's really odd how certain foreign coins are included in the exemption while others aren't For example the Chinese Panda is included the Perth Mint coins are not included. Why China but not Australia?! Make no sense.
I like the Britannias, too. I'm glad to have 10 of them in stack :-) (but the old version without the security features). In comparison here in Europe (I live in Germany) it's the better alternative because of the huge premiums on US coins you have to pay.
Definitely makes sense. If premiums were the same as US coins, which would you prefer?
@@CampbellsCoins My design favorites as gold bullion coins are the Philharmonics (biggest 1 ounce coins available), the Britannias and - unfortunately I don't have any as my own, should change in the future - the Buffalo. But you have to pay about 50-70 Euros extra premium per ounce to get one here...
I got my self a eagle today for a good price after searching found one a 1/10oz never had one before and this past Sunday got a 2022 from SD bullion a 1/4oz gold coin with a Lion on it and the queen on the other side very beautiful coin also a good price 😊 Britannias are beautiful gold coins and maples also.. wish they made a 1/10 oz buffalo
Very nice! Sounds like great buys. You and me both on the 1/10 oz Buff. Thanks for watching!
I buy the britannia's and kookaburs over the eagles any day and that's for Price only
Nice coins!
Laser eyes. Love it. 😂
I think the Krugerrand also has copper on it it's a little heavy..
Britannia is my favorite - coin and bars. Royal Mint is #1 by a large margin. No one has the hologram and their designs are great. Add in lower premiums in US and it's a win win. In my mind all Mints have some serious catching up to do. Resale unknown to me, but most will get spot so lower the premium the better.
I love the gold Britannias as well,
but i lalso love the maples, eagles, sovereigns,
they are all pure gold from 22k
to .9999 fine gold or 24 k,
i put my 1/4 oz gold in air tites,
i bought a 1/2 ounce queen Elizabeth,
2023, i used the cotton gloves,
these kept from scratching or
fingerprinting the gold coin😊
well explained video thank you
Cambellscoins
Buffalo for me. Can't go wrong with this American Beauty
My lcs is always sold out of buffaloes, also my favorite. Eagles and buffaloes all the way. My dealer pays 20$ over spot on the eagles and only 10$ over on the buffs for some reason.
The "security feature" on the gold eagle looks like coin clipping to me!
Haha basically.
/ . . . or in more sensible times, a DAMAGED rim!
I just got a 1.10th from the bullion joint , It was a good price too
Awesome!
i don't like the queen design on the Britannias. I don't mind the queen on Australian, Canadian, or New Zealand coins, but on the Britannias she looks the worst. That is one reason I avoid them. I do like the front of the coin well enough with Britannia on the waves with trident and security features. That side of the coin has a nice look indeed.
Oh interesting! I hadn't noticed before. I can definitely see your point there.
nothing beats security features of 1 oz golden maple leaf, Bullion DNA
I like the platinum Britannias:)
Yes on platinum! ALL of it!
Yes sir! Super nice and don't have to worry about milk spots.
Britannias are my favorite bullion coin.
They are quite stunning.
This is literally my favorite Channel besides my channel
Thank you! Appreciate your support!
Britannia’s are less expensive now but when premiums on gold eagles and buffaloes make it a head scratcher as to why you should keep stacking them then the popularity of Britannia’s will increase and I’m certain that’s happening now.
It is happening. Too bad but still a better deal than eagles.
The copper spots are very easy to remove with a white eraser !! 😉
True, but what if you don't want to scratch it? Torch
@@CampbellsCoins The eraser doesn't scratch it my friend !!
@@CampbellsCoins Hey, check the video "How To Remove Copper Spots From Gold Coins" from the channel " 2 is 1" and you will see !!
It’s kind of dull here in the UK - the Britannias are so clearly the obvious buy. Cheapest, most secure, most liquid (domestically) and exempt from capital gains tax. It’d be nice to vary things up with a Buffalo or Maple Leaf - but you’d be paying more for something with fewer advantages.
i just bought two ounces of gold maples and did it in cash, no ID or reporting. I'm in Canada.
In the US, we don't have ID or reporting under a specific amount. Any amount over $10k cash for instance.
Britannias are my go to silver or gold.
I just took a 1/4 oz Brit 2021 in an airtight capsule to my local coin shop. I wanted to sell it. They took a long time to think about it then came back at $25 under spot. That spooked me. I didn't sell it but as much as I love the Brit, I have to stay clear for now.
Your local coin shop is about 3 bricks short of a load. A total moron truth be known. Britannia's are a hot item in today's precious metals world. I cannot believe the ignorance of some of these half-wit LCS.
Oh wow! That's too bad. I would assume they offer spot or just slightly under. Might depend on the area in the US and your LCS.
Pretty typical for any local coin shop.... I've yet to walk in one and they offer to pay more than spot. It's always a 2-5% below spot.
@@john-ze7eu a bullion dealer should pay more, mine offered $40 over for gold maples the other day and $4 over for silver. Sold fractional eagles to another coin shop for like 12% over recently. Call around and find the best guy in your area
Educational video, I'm a beginner.
Welcome to stacking and preserving your wealth!
I am a firm believer and putting my money where my mouth is..
" every Buffalo deserves its own shade tree "
Brittanias hands down my favorite coin! I live in the U.S. and do not see any benefit buying the buffalo or eagles overr Brittanias.
Safest gold coin is definitley the maple. Not as many security features as the Brit, but more liquid.
True the maple is a more popular coin. But it could be unseated by the Brit and I hope that does happen.
I love goold
I agree with everything you said and yet I do not have any gold Britannia.
I have not nor will I ever buy gold online or from somebody on the street. My gold is sovereign minted gold, and I've have been buying for years. My Only Rule is...
Every Buffalo must have shade tree
Right on! Thank you!
Its by far the most beautiful sovereign bullion coin.
Very underrated!
If you haven't done so yet, can you make a video on IRA-eligible coins. I'd like to know more, please.
It is in the works!
I agreed the Britannia is a lovely gold coin, nearly as nice of the Gold Kangaroo coin! 😂
Where does the copper in the air come from, that cause spots on 24K?
Copper floating in the air at the minting facility.
I’m new to collecting gold coins but I do have some ASE. I thought it would be a good idea to buy both the king and queen (1 oz gold Britannia) on this years coin because it’s never happened before where two monarchs occupy the Britannia. Anyone think this year coin will be more valuable because of this?
Btw I ordered the coins from APMEX recently and while it was pricey, they really are beautiful in person and love that they have all those security features! I want to buy 1oz gold eagle but not sure cause it’s only 22K and doesn’t have many security features…but as I live in US I would like to own gold coin that is very liquid and even get more than spot for them.
Campbell's Coins what is an inexpensive one ounce pre-33 gold?
Pre 33 isn't in one ounce form. The $20 coins have less than an ounce of gold in them. Any common date St. Gaudens or Liberty double eagle will be less expensive compared to the rest.
I like natural raw gold. Flakes and dust to pickers and nuggets!
Maples rule
What do you think about the 1/10 ounce kookaburra or kangaroo ? Right now the Perth kangaroo is a little cheaper than the Britannia's. I've noticed.
Love the Kooks for collecting. Recently highlighted them in a video. As for the Kangaroo, the 2022s are nice coins however they don't have any security features. If there are two coins, at the same price, I'm picking the one with security features.
@@CampbellsCoins gotcha
in CAD:
$697 1/4 oz Maple,
$720 1/4 oz Brit
Brits are not popular in Canada either and seem to be more pricey.
God makes the gold. We just put a stamp on it..... gold is gold..... stamp-schmamp
👍
Hi! I'm from Philippines and I just started stacking gold in 1/10 oz types. I just purchased a 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf and it comes with a coin capsule. However, the coin rattles a little bit inside the capsule and I am concerned that the coin might get dented because of the rattle and given that it is 9999 gold and it's very soft. Should I be worried with the rattle or just let it be? I'm hoping for your advice about this as I am new to this hobby 😄
I wouldn't worry about the rattling unless there is a big gap. Less than a millimeter of travel won't do anything.
My first first 🥳
Woot woot! Thanks man!
Thank you. I've been wanting to maybe start getting in to silver over the last year or so. Bought my first ones for Christmas, me my dad and brother, from money metal exchange. 4 rounds 1troy Oz .999
Are libertads even better then buffalos or eagles since there premium is so high?
Libertads are more collectors pieces and I wouldn't put them in the same class as Buffalos or Eagles for stacking due to their low mintages. If you can get a good deal on them, go for it.
Buffalo all day. Get a metal tester if you’re stacking tons of gold
Here in Germany, 1/2oz Euro coins are a good value (2.5%) over spot. For me 9999 gold is 9999 gold….
Any gold is good gold! Love it.
Yeah where can I buy one
Your local coin shop or any online bullion dealer will have them.
