I have both. The SV is not designed to cast far, is designed to handle light lures in tricky conditions because it has more braking. The base Tatula CT or CT Type-R will outcast the SV in absolute distance on heavier lures.
Thank you for your comment Alex. Now you make me wanna try Tatula CT, since i am a shore angler most of the time, casting far is important in my type of fishing. I was told that SV technology is designed to cast really far, hmm...I must have misinformed, I should look into that again.
You should hurry up as there are still a few CT Type-R available on eBay as it is being phased out. I just saw one going for US$71 only. The CT Type R will cast a little further than the base CT as the spool is slightly lighter. Good luck!!

@@Fishing256 I have several Daiwa SV reels and get good distance out of them but I have been using bait caster reels for a long time now so I don't turn on the brakes too tight. The SV is a great reel for skipping docks and for teaching someone how to use a bait caster without getting back lashes all the time, and if you set it up correctly you can get a long cast out of it. Not as long as the Tatula Elite but very good distance out of it without having the thumb the spool. A lot of it is also how well balanced your equipment is for the specific technique as to how well your reel will perform with the bait you are throwing also. Your rod action is a huge factor in what distance you get out of a cast also.

PLEASE do a comparison for the budget bass fisherman Daiwa Tatula SV TW 103XS 8:1 $199 VS KastKing Royale Legend $39.99..Is the KASTKING Royale a good real for HEAVY Flipping/Pitching/PUNCHING, I Want a durable, brute reel, that can take the torque of ''HEAVY FISHING APPLICATIONS!!' 7-7'6'' HEAVY Action rods,etc, I think you get my drift LOL....Please give me your insight on this Thanks!!
1_Swole_Nole don’t get me wrong I own a few KastKing and for the price they are great reels.. but the kast kings feel cheap and after pulling in a lot of fish especially bigger fish they start making noise..
