AWESOME! This is such a better version than the OST version; the OST version has them saying "do-wop" in between "listen to the music," and I never really liked the "do-wop" version, even though all of the lyrics are kind of cheesy...
"Doo Wop" just throws me off a bit. Although I can't tell what exactly the background vocal is saying, it sounds something like "Hey I thought I'd / listen to the music, / Hey, I thought I'd live." Or at least, that _could_ work in context.
I legitimately believe this band only formed to make this one song for the soundtrack and disbanded. Because there is absolutely nothing about them anywhere.
What gets me is that this is my favorite song from Jet Set Radio. Jet Set Radio had a huge impact on me as a kid, and I look back so fondly on the weekend mornings and school afternoons spray painting Tokyo-to, Doing cool tricks, and this song setting the backdrop for the best times of my life. Several years ago I looked as hard as I could to locate info about The Reps, and came to the same conclusion: some guys came together, called themselves "The Reps," made this song, and then disbanded. It's wild that the only song by a group of unknown people had such a memorable impact on me.
Though I don't know what the background vocals are saying (and are they even in English?) I also prefer this version. The "doo-wop" one throws me off a bit.

I'm working on a guitar tab to the song. It's tuned a note below standard, if that helps you. No telling if I'll actually publish the tab or not. It opens with A# (B position,) then goes to an open D# (Open E position.) It goes between the two. There are some pretty simple parts in this song, so far as I've seen. I'm not satisfied with the quality of the tab yet, not well enough to post it.

Again, assuming the guitar's tuned down by one note, then it only needs to involve the A and D strings, and notes at the 5th and 7th frets on each string. The part after that, though, is just power chords. They start on the A string, 5th fret. They then go to the E string at the 5th fret, 6th fret, then 8th fret. They then switch back to the A string, on the 7th fret before repeating almost a full two times, except the last time, don't play it on the 7th fret. That's all I'll explain for now. I'm not sure how far you are with learning guitar, but this ought to help a bit, at least. I'm also tired.
@@medecko4394 You're welcome. And though I've played (technically) since 2007 (but barely at all in the beginning,) the earliest parts are the roughest. You really need good hand posture, and preferably a guitar with very light strings on it. And if you only have a cheap one, it might have a few things that make playing more difficult. I already suggested you should use light strings, and sets of 8 - 39s or 9 - 42s are light. (New Electric Guitars normally don't come with strings thicker than 10 - 46s, if I remember right, so you might be fine with that.) You need low tension on your hands to make it easier to start out. If the strings are too high, don't expect to play very easily except if you're playing with a slide on your finger. Setting up your guitar with the right (for you) specs of neck relief (how much bow the neck has in the direction of the strings) and string action ("action" is string height) can be of a gigantic help, but that's _if_ the guitar's not set up well for you. Seriously though, some cheap acoustic guitars that parents get their kids for Christmas are just _too_ cheap, and are useless to learn on because the strings are impossibly high for anyone to play except if it's for slide. Not only are the strings too hard to press, they play out of tune once they're too high and are pressed down.
