Yo we really need to thank the breakfast club, Charlamagne, and everybody on this panel for dropping gems & having this conversation that needed to be had
It’s beautiful to see black men give each other their flowers while they’re still here. I’m glad spaces are being created for black men to be vulnerable and have emotional conversation.
My black friend from Tennessee committed suicide last month & it breaks my heart he didn’t receive help… he was only 37. 🙏🏽♥️♥️♥️ He is the reason I am telling my friend to speak louder & that they are loved. We all need help & that doesn’t make us weak.
The statement that Jay said his mother made about men not having emotions is something that a lot of women think or feel because men have not been made feel comfortable to be vulnerable or express their emotions. Instead they develop other ways of coping and just bottle things up. It’s crazy to me how we as women develop these thoughts when we’re usually the ones that raise them. We’ve seen them exhibit emotions/feelings as they grow but yet we still develop thoughts in our head that leads us to think that they don’t have emotions. These type of conversations really need to be had. Men are human too, they should be allowed to express theirselves as well.
My son is going through this situation right NOW. I appreciate this conversation. This video was passed to my SON and his GIRLFRIEND so both of them have a better understanding about Mental health. I thank GOD my SON finally decided to speak to a BLACK therapist. Now he know he's not alone dealing with this. Thanks you to ALL FIVE of your!!!...
I’m a white man and this really moved me, I’m glad that the idea of what a man is supposed to be is changing and that men are starting to see that is ok to be vulnerable and it’s ok to feel some type of way and also ok to talk about it and not bottle it all up.. thank u CTG
As a black man going through hurt trauma and depression in thankful for grown men to talk about this and bring light to this topic epidemic bcuz I've tried to take my own life over heartbreak father/son issues with my dad family it really helps me heal
Thank you Fellas on this panel for your Transparency, Rawness & Vulnerability about your Mental Health as well as Toxic masculinity!! As a Childhood Sexual Abuse/Physical Abuse Survivor I battle with Clinical Depression/ Anxiety. I needed to see this because lately I’ve been feeling suicidal & wondering why am I even here on earth . This had me in tears 😭. Even at 34 I’m still Recovering ❤️🩹/ Healing from a lot I can’t speak on. Mental health/ Mental illness is real . We live in a society that stigmatizes mental health but mourns suicide. We can’t HEAL what we don’t REVEAL!!
The part about what he interpreted from what his wife actually said was powerful. When you listen in defense mode, you’re only focused on what you feel is an attack or nag. Complete tunnel vision with a hyper focus for negativity. You can give compliments all day but they only hear what they want or created in their own head. It’s human nature to harp on the negative but to have tools to work through is priceless and that’s what we’re lacking as a community. Thankfully they were able to work through that and didn’t call it quits. I wasn’t so fortunate.
THIS RESONATES WITH ME SO STRONG!!! I’m a female “THUG” and I was raised off of tough love and people sometimes not knowing raised off of tough love can be trauma especially when you are looking for compassion and nurturing actions and responses and instead you get dimissed like your feelings does not matter or someone telling you deal with it or you are to young to have feelings etc. after keep hearing that most of my life (younger) you become sheltered and combative and anxious and so on because all I know is fight because I don’t trust that you really care or flight because no one really cares anyway so internalizing and keep it pushing was all I knew. So now as a full grown adult when someone comes into my life and try to show me compassion, love, nurture, I don’t recognize it enough to embrace it and take it as someone genuinely really cares about me instead I push them away and question their actions as if it is wrong for what they are showing me because those kind of actions seem very foreign and I don’t trust it because all I know is fight or flight and shelter those emotions and keep it moving. I can honestly say today at this moment I know better to do better and I am open to receiving love, compassion, and nurturing caring actions that helps me identify who I am as a woman, mother, friend, and a human being overall. It’s called trust the process and growth❤️🙏🏾
I appreciate this brothers. Y'all were open and transparent about the struggles. Contrary to popular belief black men indeed can be humbled to the point of seeking mental health.
Finally was able to close my eyes around 4am after watching junk on UA-cam an hour later this video woke me up and by the end I felt tears. Thank you all for this session.
Leonard we love you. Thank you so much for giving us access to your vulnerability and showing us there's more power there than in our own strengths. Love you bro!
Mental is health is important but man people gotta toughen up as well. I’m in my 20s saying this. I feel like people using mental health as an excuse for certain behaviors or lack of success/lack of relationships
@@tiredox3788 problem? My mindset works for me I have no issues no anxiety on life. I’m just saying there needs to be a balance of toughness and mental well being
@@GLJ2414 I Respect Your Subjective Input And Yet What Makes You Feel Like People Are Using Mental Health As An Excuse ? And If You Would Be Kind Enough To Provide An Example We Would Greatly Appreciate It
This is an amazing program!! This message is needed in schools. Teachers need to be trained in nurturing black boys and boys in general. Also, please don’t get offended but men and women have male and female energies. Both energies need to be in balance. Males should be allowed to express feminine energies without being automatically labeled, gay. In Africa, I’ve seen a whole row of men holding hands laughing, etc not allowed in the US.
Sometimes the common theme is where someone can access counseling support (individual, couples, and family therapy). Suppose you have children in elementary, middle, or high school. You can speak to the professional school counselor or the school social worker. They can provide you with a list of counseling professionals in your area. You can access your employee assistance program, EAP, as part of your benefits. You can call the number on the back of your insurance card if you are in college. You can go to the student health services center.
I wish I could like this a million times. Excellent conversation and the ending.... Damn the ending was powerful!! Brothers keep ur heads up out there.
This was great. I am so proud of Uncle Charla. I’ve loved listening to him on the radio since The Wendy Williams Experience. He has grown and matured in so many ways. This is great to see young men show feeling and vulnerability. Where I come from it’s hard to come by. Very refreshing. You’re doing an amazing job Charlamagne! 💓
DAMN! @charlamagneThegod you made a brother start tearing up at the end of the show.. this is real, GOOD BLESS YALL MEN ON THAT STAGE for contributing, WE NEEDED THIS.
