One of the most underrated rap music youtube channels. I don't know any other channel that dives into rhythm and flow of rap as much as you. You see plenty on other facets of rap songwriting like lyrical composition and technique, but having something specifically on flow is a niche that was sorely missing.
This isn’t just one of the best rap channels out there, this is one of the best music deconstruction / educational channels out there. Each video is a little master class Amazing
Bruv. Your brilliance doesn't make me feel as small relative to its enormity. You are an incredible MC and musical scientist. Your musical flow and rhythm are signature to your voice and delivery as a teacher making it interesting to listen to you break down the nuances of musical theory that get overlooked in our art form. Thank you for making me better Bruv. I love you Fam, I pray God keeps you and that you're always booked up! Peace God. Teton Village, Wyoming. 🙌🫡🙏
man, these videos are a work of art. Rakim was one of my favourite rappers back in the day, and I always wondered how he got his flow to sound so smooth. thanks for a great explanation!
Man, you deep with that. I subscribed. Im have to listen a few times to get it all. I didn't know there was so much to learn involving rap and music. You shoukd get a PhD in music brother
I absolutely love what you do mate. So much respect for doing these. Over the years iv not found anyone doing this. So much help with thinking in patterns 👊
These videos are amazing. There are so many artist that id love to see this type of video made for, Asap Rocky being one of them. I typed Science into your YT search bar and im too excited for all this content, tysm sir!
Bro this is crazy, this is my first time watching this video and the first thought i had was Rakims line on Its been a long time "But, no, I ain't down with Eric B. no more" and 18 seconds to the video...Bro is using the same song I was thinking of...Crazy stuff
Just wanna say your take on the Music Theory of Rap, is well pretty educational and I hope you great peaceful success in your endeavor's...Also may your naps be short and restful.
Ableton's swing/groove feature is pretty convoluted to use, but turning the grid off sounds much better anyway. Thanks to that I have a much better sense of groove, especially with wonky ones like quintuplets. For any producers here, try it out even if you use a different DAW
Hey man. Love your stuff but I don’t get it. Are you able to make a video on the basics of your teachings (from easy up to what you already talk about)
The rhythm of the lyrics need to have natural fluctuations in speed, cos that's how we talk. So some parts will feel like you're slowing down behind the beat, others will sound like you're speeding up to catch up to it
Hey I really love the idea of your Channel, I really think its the next logical step for rap/hip-hop. We always used the voice as a musical instrument and not procution(no offense to procution to be me I see it as a addition to music although this is a bias and its more a ying yang situation of you NEED both or else you don't have a thing) Your disecting the specifics of how voice is more as a procution instument then a "standard" instument which I think is only logical and nessasery for hiphop to be educated in schools and for it to become part of music theory and music officially as I think it absolutely should. I also think your real end goal is finding the way to Mix beat and melody into one system as especially modern hiphop is really starting to incorporate voice as both a melodic and a beat instrument thanks to Auto-Tune😅(i like it its cool idc if they use auto tune nobody perfect but auto-tune is).

Hey man. Love your stuff but I don’t get it. Are you able to make a video on the basics of your teachings (from easy up to what you already talk about)
If you were to use microtiming, what's the element within the lyrics that defines the rhythm while going for a more "narrated" flow style?
The rhythm of the lyrics need to have natural fluctuations in speed, cos that's how we talk. So some parts will feel like you're slowing down behind the beat, others will sound like you're speeding up to catch up to it
@@MazbouQ Perfectly explained. Thank you very much!
How do you learn this though? Like how can i master swing? Any suggestions are appreciated 🙏❤

You got my sub brother in his channel is crazy
did you work on developing the tone quality of your voice? or is it just a product of your natural voice?
Hey I really love the idea of your Channel, I really think its the next logical step for rap/hip-hop. It's been a long time
It's been a long time
It's been a long time
It's been a long time
Rakim, the microphone soloist
Follow procedures, the crowd couldn't wait to see this
Nobody been this long awaited since Jesus
Who wouldn't believe this, I heard the word on the street is
I'm still one of the deepest on the mic since Adidas
They said I changed the times from the rhymes that I thought of
So I made some more to put the New World in Order
With Mathematics, put your status above the average
And help you rappers, make paragraphs with graphics
'Cause new days is dawnin', new ways of performin'
Brainstormin', I write and watch the night turn to mornin'
On and on and, I got the whole world respondin'
Rock, I keep it hot and blow the spot without warnin'
The emperor, well known for inventin' a sentence
Full of adventure, turnin' up the temperature
Rush with adrenaline, how long has it been again
To be in the state of mind that Rakim is in?
It's been a long time
Rakim, the microphone soloist
It's been a long time
It's been a long time
Rakim
When I'm out proppin', either, hangin' or shoppin'
People see me, stop and ask me when the album droppin'
The wait is over, in formation like a soldier
Like I told ya, greater, stronger, now that I'm older
I broke the code of silence with overloads of talents
My only challenge is not to explode in violence
I'm Asiatic, and blazin' microphones' a habit
At least once during the course of a day, it's automatic
In ghetto apparel, mind of a Egyptian pharaoh
Far from shallow, thoughts travel like an arrow
Allah's monotony, so far they can't stop me
You know, Ra want property like Mummar Khadafi
More thoughts than Bibles, recital taught disciples
A sawed-off mic, so words scatter like a rifle
Thoughts that's trifle, I'm bustin' these for you
Ayo, technical difficulties is through
It's been a long time
Rakim, the microphone soloist
It's been a long time
Rakim, the microphone soloist
It's been a long time
Rakim, the microphone soloist
It's been a long time
It's been a long time
When I flow at night, I show 'em new heights I go to write
They know I strike with new prototypes to blow the mic
Critics and biters don't know where my source of light is
Still leave authors and writers with arthritis
Cursed kids like the pyramids when they found the style
First to ever let a rhyme flow down the Nile
The rebirth of hip hop'll be dropped now
'Cause the crowd didn't hear the original in a while
So be alarmed, what you 'bout to see is the bomb
Like, 3D in 'Nam, vivid like CD-Rom
Info kept like internet.com
My notebook's my bond like the Holy Quran
Since I came in the door, said it before
But, no, I ain't down with Eric B. no more
At night the open mic be invitin' me to rhyme
So, yo, I'm online, it's been a long time

It seems like the number of rythmic variations one can do has a limit within a 4 /16 bar section. Do rapper often reuse rythms across different songs?
the microtimed sounds much like a dragged version.... Why he calls it m-timed, I don't know
can you do 2pac like on his verse on the song 'gotta get mine' by mc breed?
I'm that type with a built in rhythm.
It'd be great to see a Science of... on Robot Tank / Warcloud / [NSF youtube]
