This song is so beautiful. I am a proud daughter and mom of a Marine. I am also the wife of a Soldier. My dad is a Vietnam Veteran who will be 76 this year. I am so thankful for their service. 💜🙏🏽
You're absolutely right...Verna Good morning how are you doing over there hope you're having a wonderful day it's another lovely day that the lord has made
My grandpa has Agent Orange poisoning he needs a liver and kidney transplant but I am afraid we're going to lose him before he gets it. He served in Vietnam. He said it was the worst because most of the time you couldn't see your enemy they hid in trenches and bushes and underground tunnels They dug themselves plus you had hidden mines and bombs connected to women and children. He says he will never forget that war. His brother also fought in the Vietnam war there was an article about them in the news paper the meastas brothers but sadly he never made it home. I am sorry for your loss but grateful for those who are willing to make the sacrifice for our life and freedoms. For those who we lost Rest in peace and thank you for your service. Those who are fighting may you return home safely and thank you for your service. Those who retired enjoy retirement and thank you for your service. Those that fought and came back due to injury may you stay strong thank you for your service. Those who lost a loved one and struggle thank you for your service.
I am a double tour vietnam vet turned 73 last July. I have received more respect in the Midwest than any where I have lived to all Afghanistan vets thank you for your service with respect J Gordon
As a young man who served in the U.S. Army, I respect your obligation to duty and service. My grandfather always told me yall didn't get the return home that yall deserved. I am sorry that happened.
Thank you for your service I am on my 2nd year as a U.S Marine. I'm getting ready to 21. I couldn't be more thankful for you and many more who have paved the path for me and my brothers and sisters. Once again thank you

In 1981 I was 15 and looking for my 1st car. You know, the one every boy dreams of. Some want the chevelle, or camero, maybe mustang. Looking thru the newspaper everyday. One dsy my dad comes home from work and says he thinks he'd seen a car I'd like behind a garage in Tampa and I should look at it. Ok dad, what ever. Oh the porch sat there a much older lady. My dad asked if the car was for sale and she said yes but that it was rather expensive and asked me if I could afford the $75.00 she was asking. I said yes ma'am. When I looked at the tarp covering the big beast of a car. I started to druel, cry, and thought NO WAY. Under the tarp was a 1967 pontiac gto. MY CAR. The old lady would NOT tell me who it had belonged to just that it was time to sell it. I can only imagine.

I first heard this song while I was arriving to school, 23 years ago today. Moments later, the unforgettable, the unbelievable, the impossible, happened. The date was 9/11/2001. Thank you, to every serviceman and servicewoman, for your service to your country. No matter what country that may be or what service you serve in.

My grandfather served in the 60's .. he was a sniper and while phsycially he made it home, not all of him did ... a part of him was left in the jungles he fought in. HE had demons.. but the man tought me much... he died 5 years ago after losing a battle with cancer... I was there helping myt grandmother take care of him when it happened.. it happened fast and when i got htere iwas hoping he would teach me how to drive and fish.. many things that in ever got .. but to this day .. when i drive... i smell cigarette smoke, ill forever ride with my grandfather ... and i know he loose out for me still. This goes out otthe vets we have lost , and the soldiers who never fully made it home from war, Thank you. thank you for your service. and for your sacrifice.. may your memories always be honored
10/11/2024 I arrived at my hotel in Bellevue, WA after a long work day, and this song came on the radio. I was already thinking about my hometown, because country music does that to me. I hadn't heard it before, at least not that I remembered. I had to sit in the car and finish the song. Now I'm sitting here crying. I'm from an Old Cars family, specifically a Chevy family. My current sweetheart is a USMC Veteran. This one hit HARD, oh boy...
Love this. Wow! We lost more than 15 fellows from my little city, outside Chicago, over the years of Vietnam. That's the ones I knew of. For all that read this that served THANK YIU. And those who are missing someone that gave all, THANK YOU SO MUCH AND STAY CLOSE TO JESUS. Blessings, julie
This song reaches right to my heart. I am a Navy veteran myself. I did two tours to the Persian Gulf. Just hearing this song does make me think about how many veterans left for a war and didn't make it home or those who returned with injuries or emotional traumas that never healed. My hats off to all current and former military members. Thanks for all you have done. There are not enough words or actions to show how much the service of veterans are appreciated except to say thank you for all you have done for everyone
Absolutely love this old song. I pulled a Chevy 2 nova out of a barn for 100$ in Wartburg Tennessee when I was 15 years old and I kid you not it was nearly the same story he had left it in mom and Dad's old barn and lost his life over in the jungle fighting for our freedom and I was honored to pull it out of the grooves that had pressed into the old barns dirt floor by those old bias ply tires. I had it running in no time with the help of a generous old vocational teacher whom I still look up to to this day. And there's no telling how many times the original owner saved my life in that old nova God I loved that car 350 4 bolt with a th350 trans. Then a th400... Then a 2 speed powerglide.. then 400 small block and many years later I had to let her go to take care of bills and my kids but what memories.. beautiful song

My brother in law past away just 3 days ago active duty when he passed I really thought alot of him and loved him... he sadly passed in a motorcycle accident and this makes me think of him so much RIP William McDonald....
Jesus will soon resurrect your bro-in-law William McDonald, right after Jesus brings Armageddon & restores his God's Kingdom Govt on this earth. Jesus would have removed Satan, the demons & the wicked people. "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment." (John 11: 28, 29) Memorial tombs exist only on earth, so this is an earthly resurrection. See also John 11:23-27 this scripture proves that when Jesus returns, those living & doing God's will, will never die at all. (1Tim 2:3-5; John 3:16; John 17:3; Psalms 37:29)

7/2024 - 1st Aviation Brigade, Vietnam. I lost a lot of my friends over there. As with so many others that were there or in any other war, a part of me is here at home, but a part of me is still there. That will never change as the choppers fly over my home everyday. Thanks to all those who served! 76 now and the "Lack of Youth" has really set in over the last few years. Often asked by many, "Would I do it again?" the answer is still a solid "YES"!!!

So sad this doesn’t have ten times the views!!! This song is incredible, it tells an amazing story!!
I will always stop what I'm doing to listen. Sincerely, a marine widow
That's what I like about old country a lot of the songs told stories now days most of the songs are about drinking or sex

Thanks for your Grandfather's service to our country.
Texas is still listening!
Proud son of a Vietnam Vet!
Hi fellow people 🙃 👋 I just heard this on the radio for the first time ever and I liked it so much I had to search up "private malone" ❤
Thank you Shawn Duncan, for your service and sacrifices. God bless you.
Thank you so very much for your service to our country 💓
@Angela Lee You're welcome. Proud to serve
Thank you for your service
@@jedi4canes You're welcome. I'm proud to have served
I love this song. I have a lot of family have been in the service.Sime Marine, some Army Some Army.
Sending love right got a chance to be back stage with the band in Birmingham concert

This is one of the songs that came out post 9/11.
Thank you for your service
Salute.
Thank you for protecting our country and our freedoms! We appreciate heroes like you more than you realize.
This is one of only a select few songs in the world that can make this grown man tear up every time I hear it. Such an awesome story it tells! Thank you Mr. Ball!!
It makes this old vet's eyes sweat!
My brother in law past away just 3 days ago active duty when he passed I really thought alot of him and loved him... he sadly passed in a motorcycle accident and this makes me think of him so much RIP William McDonald....
Prayers 🙏 from Ohio I'm so sorry 💔
Jesus will soon resurrect your bro-in-law William McDonald, right after Jesus brings Armageddon & restores his God's Kingdom Govt on this earth. Jesus would have removed Satan, the demons & the wicked people. "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment." (John 11: 28, 29)
Memorial tombs exist only on earth, so this is an earthly resurrection. See also John 11:23-27 this scripture proves that when Jesus returns, those living & doing God's will, will never die at all. (1Tim 2:3-5; John 3:16; John 17:3; Psalms 37:29)
My heart goes out to I you and your family.
I’m so sorry
God bless him and for real I’m sorry for your loss

David ball has the perfect voice for this song.
I’m a Veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia…for all My brothers who served in Vietnam and made sure we got a better “Welcome Home” then they did - Thank You for your service and for fighting so hard for all of us…🙏
i didnt make it to the great sanbox, but i served the 376 AEW, 2f051 we didnt have much in the way of warm clothing, but I was proud to be a part of something important. I heard this song before i joined, and I hear this song now, and it means so much more to me now than i thought it ever would.

I heard this song when it first came out in 2001 and it brought tears to my eyes.....20 years later it still does. All of you that wore the uniform, allow to say with the utmost of humility.....THANK YOU for the sacrifices you made and those that paid the ultimate price and never made it home. You are my heroes and as long as I draw breath, I will always hold you in the highest of esteem.

Everything about this song is perfection from it's beautifully written story, and the simplicity of the music and vocals, and the salute to our military heros who have fought for our freedom and especially those who "never made it home" 😞💔
I'm a former Marine this was my daughter's favorite song when she was little and I miss her very much I cry every time I hear it

Have you folks listened to "I'm Just the Bottle That Pours the Wine" yet?
His name is David Ball, and he's a very underrated singer.
