こんにちは 桂三輝 さん (Hello, Mr. Katsune Sunshine). I recently discovered "rakugo", in the middle of my initial Japanese language self-learning journey. It is a very rich aesthetic of humor due to its simplicity of means, imaginative complexity and rooting in secular Japanese tradition. It is also curious and funny to see that what made people laugh 400, 300 or 200 years ago are the same things that make them laugh today (although there are also differences). From what I know, rakugo started out as a form of humor for the elites. But it seems that "quickly" became a popular form of humor. Some friends of mine to whom I showed some rakugo stories felt that there was little room for improvisation and innovation. Perhaps compared to "stand up comedy" or other forms of contemporary humor, there is little room for improvisation (although it is there, especially in the first part of interaction with the public). But what people must understand is that, in order to be preserved, there are certain fundamental characteristics that must not change, otherwise it would stop being "rakugo" and become something else (probably valid, but it would no longer be "rakugo"). It's like a "living museum of humor". These videos spoken in English, but with subtitles in Japanese, are precious for my study of Japanese (although English is not my mother tongue). Indeed. I felt the way of putting subtitles of this video is similar to Japanese TV comedy. We need subtitles in the right time like in karaoke, and right location like textbox of manga. I'm feeling bad for my bad English, thank you.

As "bad" gets worse, the thanking power goes up. "It is truly horrifying to see you showering so much kikubari(consideration) on a wretch like me." - better.
If you literally translate " Warui (Bad) " here as Bad it doesn't make sense. Warui here actually means " Sorry to have caused you hassle ". It's not funny.
+Pamela Chua I've once asked by a foreign friend why Japanese greet " it's hot isn't it ? " in summer and " it's cold isn't it ? " in winter. I couldn't explain why. I think there are cultural differences what they find funny or not funny. As for the expression of Warui / Warui-ne, it's exactly the same meaning as Sumimasen which is the abbreviation of Sorry (to have caused you trouble/hassle). I guess Sumimasen should be awkward as well for Japanese leaner to distinguish it's thank you or sorry or hello or others in cases.

まあ謝意を表す「悪い。」の意味は英語にすると”My fault“だけどね。手間やひまや心配を相手にかけさせて恐縮だという意味の「わざわざ手間かけさせて悪いね。」とかを究極に省略した形が「悪い。」だから。
