@@LALLAREN_2Thank you, and I’m really starting to believe they have one of the brightest futures in the league! They’ve got all of the pieces a franchise could ever want
Been an OC native and Ducks fan my whole life but didn't truly get deep into the team till 2016 when the decline began. Can't wait to see them fighting for cups again! Great vid
@@AnaheimRob interesting take but I can see where you’re coming from. Solid 200 foot game, lots of physicality and his pure skill is gonna surprise people down the road
@@JamesMillerHockey Yeah, it is a little interesting, that's for sure, but just trying to get in the mindset of Verbeek and crew, especially since they had Demidov and Lindstrom in front of them for the taking. If Sennecke keeps developing and filling out as expected I guess he could basically be just that. Size, skill and finesse. I am hoping that is exactly what they got, which would be amazing. Too bad it will take a few years to find out just what level of a player they picked.
2-3 years from now I think the lineup should look something like this: Gauthier-Carlsson-Sennecke McTavish-Zegras-Terry Killorn-Gaucher-Colangelo Myatovic-Pettersson-Strome Mintyukov-Luneau Zellweger-Solberg LaCombe-Warren Dostal Suchanek Ik putting Zegras at center instead of McTavish is controversial to many but Zegras objectively has been more effective down the middle compared to the wing. He's a transitional force who excels with more open ice to operate and directs plays through the center lane so seamlessly. Gives him more space to back defenders off and work naturally as the pure facilitator he is. McTavish is a good center too don't get me wrong, but he's not as dynamic with the puck as Z + his wall game/boardplay is much more refined than that of Zegras. It'd allow McTavish to continue what he's already adept at. Extending possessions, puck protection, keeping pucks in at the blue line on hard rims, along with his soft skills and being a legit dual threat from the wing. Zegras is clearly hindered on the wing where he has less puck touches and room to create (although he's shown some improvisation skills on the wing before). McTavish however would thrive equally at center or wing imo which is why I prefer Z as the second line pivot long term where his particular skillset would be most accentuated while Mac's big frame would allow him to survive those trench battles in the hard areas more. Worth noting too that Zegras substantially improved defensively last season when healthy (particularly low in coverage where he was great in mirroring his check, applying his stickwork to create turnovers & begin d zone exits and breakouts) whereas McTavish struggled massively on the defensive side last year and had major penalty issues too. Also great video James, keep it up man!
@@matthewkabel6246 That’s a good looking lineup! So much depth. As for your Zegras take I can respect it. His defensive game did take a big step forward last season and he could easily continue to grow in that area, especially if his team can evolve and become more well rounded. Plus if Zegras is the 2C it wouldn’t be bad at all having McT by his side to take some face offs whenever Z gets booted out. It’ll be fun to see how it all plays out, clearly both players will continue to evolve and they have so much potential, McTavish is still so young too so we can expect a massive leap or two from him within’ a few years. No matter what happens clearly Anaheim is going to have all sorts of options. Glad you enjoyed the vid!
@@JamesMillerHockey 100%. McTavish still has potential to be a very good 2 way guy so I wouldn't put it past him to keep maturing in that respect. I think part of his struggles last season can be attributed to to learning a clear man on man system under Cronin, and with McT not being the fleetest of foot it makes sense that he'd lose his man at times or get hemmed in, despite his physical traits and ability to break plays up. And like you alluded to he's definitely a better faceoff guy than Z. Looking forward to all of these potential line combos and D pairings and seeing these young studs all come into their own
