    Treinen was awesome last night! Kudos to Barnsey! Rojas is, as usual, playing great baseball.

    Michael in Thailand-.Casey n Coach you are both spot on. In my mind -- given the near decimation of their pitching staff and many of their key players - and relying on rookies etc -- it’s nearly miraculous that they’ve won 80 games top of the heap so far. Long way from the pot o gold. But kudos !!!

    Miller pitched a little wild. He’s coming along.Dodgers playing a little more small ball. Kiki is a good substitute for Freddy until he gets back. Thanks Casey and Austin for down on the farm. Thanks Coach Holt

    Nice breakdown and discussion of Hyun-Seok Jang. Enjoyed seeing those sequences and hearing the explanation on them. Jack Harris of the LA Times wrote an article on him that I believe is not behind the pay wall titled "Why Dodgers prospect Hyun-Seok Jang could become one of MLB’s next Korean stars". Plenty of quotes from Rob Hill and others but also some interesting tidbits on his backstory.

    When rosters expand do you think we’ll see Pages, Outman or Feduccia get the call? Maybe even Rushing if they go with a hitter not on the 40 man.

    Casey. Do you think analytics are hurting the pitchers , I remember in the 80s pitchers would throw 250 to 300 innings and throw 8 to 10 complete games now its lucky to get a pitcher to throw 1 complete game

      Maximizing every pitch they throw, in terms of velocity, is what is causing the injuries. Imagine driving your car as fast as it can go 100% of the time. You're engine isn't going to last

      I would rather go back to old school pitching, Don Sutton,Charlie Hough,Doug Rae and the bulldog Orel

    The Dodgers only struck out 6 times last night and conversely showed what can happen when a team puts the ball in play. Nice comment early in the show about how well Miguel Rojas is playing. I recall very clearly last year you remarking about Rojas, well into his season, that he looked good and it felt like the results should be there even though they weren't. I thought the same thing. I'm starting to feel this way about Tommy Edman. I like what I'm seeing but the results haven't quite gotten there. Of course, he's only had 35 plate appearances but eventually he's going to start hitting doubles into the gap.

    So, I’d like to know why the Dodgers don’t carry an extra starter like Knack and send down or DFA a reliever. Tonight is a perfect example. They will burn through their bullpen and it will kill them the rest of the series. It’s not unusual for someone like Kershaw (or any starter) to only go a few innings, so the opportunity for a piggyback start should be considered. I don’t get it.

    • @dodgersdaily
      @dodgersdaily  15 днів тому

      Numbers
      1 extra starter is 1 less reliever, and the Dodgers can't afford to be minus 1 reliever
      Unless you can add a 14th pitcher, adding a starter makes things worse for the bullpen

      @@dodgersdaily thanks for the response! So, why couldn’t Knack be a ‘long reliever’ out of the bullpen? If a starter only goes 4-5 innings, Knack could come in and finish out the game. That saves the rest of the relievers from being overworked.

    • @dodgersdaily
      @dodgersdaily  15 днів тому

      It's still math that leaves the bullpen short
      For however long a reliever goes, that's adds to the time they have to wait until they can throw again
      So, if Knack goes 4 innings, he wouldn't be able to pitch for 4 days
      So, he's pitched 4 innings in 5 days at that point. Pitching 1 inning at a time, he would throws that exact same amount, so it's still the same.

      @@dodgersdaily To be honest with you, I can’t stand the way these games are managed. Roberts only cares about pitch count. He could care less how many runs a starter gives up. Today is a perfect example. They need a long reliever in case the starter falters. The Dodgers have a good lineup, when they are hitting and they deliver with RISP. But they won’t win a WS with this pitching crew. No chance. The only thing they’ve proven is that they are inconsistent and do not dominate the opponent. Even if healthy, I don’t see Glasnow, Yamamoto, Buehler, Miller, Kershaw, Stone, or Flaherty getting them there. As for the bullpen, they are very inconsistent as well. I realize they are limited in their call ups for someone like Knack, but he is the only one who has been consistent this year, with the exception of perhaps Stone. Maybe they should just heal up and focus on 2025.
