Replacing Audi A3 2004 8P driver door window regulator. This can be carted out with one person, do it yourself and learn about your car and save money, 1 to 2 hors work taking your time.
A great vid that guided me through replacing the window regulator on my daughter's 2009 A3. Same problem as yours - old cable was frayed & bunched up. The replacement regulator was slightly different to the original, in that it had square white nylon clips instead of the plastic fold-over clips holding the regulator to the window. Also, the original self-tapping type screws for the motor weren't suitable for the new regulator, so I had to use short M6 (I think) bolts instead.
Hi Martin, Great video. It's really helping me out with a similar problem I have. Can you advise on one thing though. At around 22.15 you mention that the motor can be turned, if everything is connected up, to align the drive splines, while the motor is not mounted, would you say this is a good test of the switch, motor, wiring loom ( power ) and control module to eliminate them? prior to moving forward with further checks of the window regulator etc ? If you could advise...cheers
hi, yes you could try this but there would be no load on motor as in not much work to do, just turn. just gave it a go, sorry for late replay Mark, good luck.
Many thanks Martin ..... I'm in the process of doing this job myself... One question- The Large washers and screws that hold the glass to the regulator as missing...( probably due to inept spannering by the car's previous owner) So any idea of their size?
Good question, when you set the window in place it has no resistance. I think you should be free to move the glass freely. its only when you connect the motor you will then need 12V. So to answer your question, when glass in runner and frame just move freely to allow you to do your work. I would say half way up. Thanks good luck.
Do you happen to remember if you had the motor plugged in but not attached? Did the motor just keeping going if you keep your finger on the button? or stop at a certain point?
when you plug the 12v into motor, and away from the regulator, just hit the window button lightly to move the motor a small amount, then see if it seeds into regulator, just keep doing this on till the motor fits into regulator,
I’ve replace my regulator but window continues to work only when I unplug and re-plug it, but only for a few minutes. I’m thinking it has to do with door sensor cause it’s not detecting that same rear door. And light switch doesn’t light up. I did find theirs another light right under and above the inside door handle but it’s very faint. When the windows works it’s faint, then goes out after window fails again within a few minutes of re-plugging. Suggestions?
hi, I did this on my car and now the window feels a bit funky. At first the 1 tap was all gone. but now the 1 tap does not work when going down. Ill have to fully press it down so it goes down automaticly. If i do stop it when going down by pressing 1 tap up. the window will stop. and if i press up again the window will go down instead of up. So i have to take it all the way down before i can 1 tap it up or 2 tap it for automatic going up. Also the window feels like it is struggeling a bit. it goes down and up about 0.5 - 1 sec slower than the other one. I did buy a replacement part and not offical audi part. but watching this made me wonder if i can have missaligned the window or something. Or maybe the window lift i bought is just a bit slower and harder to pull up. The wire snapped and the window fell down when i had to replace it. So maybe it is just that the window "memory" is wrong. but i am not able to program it any further. (i did manage to get 1 tap UP, somehow. down is still not working"
OK, to reset your 1 touch try this. Starting with your window up. Put window down with your finger holding the button, when window fully down hold the button for 5 sec longer, then do the same when putting window back up again and hold for 5 sec. This should reset your window. If you find you are losing 1 touch, this can be caused by window finding resistance. Try some silicone and lub on runners. Hope this helps.
Trygvel, seems to work for others, window might be tight. If you put it up at times will it stop and want to go down on its own, like something was in the way. if so there is to much resistance are something else is going faulty. Sorry I can't help any more with this. www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-b7-platform-discussion-69/drivers-door-window-no-longer-has-auto-one-touch-down-feature-2792069/
Hi Martin. Could you confirm if the bit for the three screws holding the motor was in fact a T25 or was it another size. Just need to get them screws to be able to do my replacement. Cheers. Great video mate. 🤜🏼🤛🏼

I think you should get new ones with your Regulator Juan. Sorry for late replay.
go to 16.36 on video Jaun
Is it best to have the glass up or down when carrrying out this task? Thanks.

my regulator when new came half way so i just worked with that.
How the did you get the window frame out from the door after removing those 5 screws?
I think if you watch the video again you should get your answer. thanks
sorry, if you have every thing removed that is shown in video it should lift out, it is a bit heavy. make sure use have mirror removed all so.

Cool man, thank you!
whit motor not connected to any thing, i would just keep turning if you keep your finger on button,

sounds like a power issue. check the wiring loon coming from car to door.
