What are these lipid?
Lipids are nothing but fats that include cholesterol and triglyceride. Our lifestyle greatly influences the level of lipids in our body. But, there is another critical reason that controls the lipids, and that is our diabetic condition.
To understand if your body contains lipids exceeding the permissible levels, your doctor will ask for a Lipid profile test.
So, What is this test?
Lipid profile test will measure the amount of cholesterol, triglycerides, and high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) present in you.
One may wonder, why do we have to measure them?

In a diabetic patient, the lipid levels may fluctuate significantly, especially in those who have type 2 diabetes. Diabetes tends to reduce the amount of good cholesterol you have and increase the bad cholesterol levels leading to cardiovascular diseases like heart attack and stroke.
For this reason, doctors recommend diabetic patients to take frequent lipid profile test.
So, what happens in this test?
Your doctor will ask you to fast for nine to 12 hours before the test. You must not consume food and any kind of liquid except water.
As you are required to fast, this test will be done in the morning. Lab specialists will draw blood from your vein to study the lipid levels.
