I would like someone to confirm this but I did read that ninjas carve something on their scalp so that they can be reminded of what their target or mission is. If the mission is a long term one or one that requires a lot of waiting, then it means imbedding themselves into the local population. You don't want a paper trail, either, but you also don't want to forget what your mission is. Paper was expensive so anything written would stand out. There is a subtle detail in these drawings that you missed, and that's the samurai does not have the traditional cyborg arm and the ninja is not shown riding his faithful giant snake, as was common until the Meiji restoration that outlawed their breeding. I'm going to have to dock some points.
It's not politically correct to say "cyborg", it's automaton now(!) I remember Oda Nobunaga riding a giant serpent against the Toyotomi, it was a marvellous battle but they've changed history to promote gun warfare(!)

I would like to counter your point on sword holding. As a (former) military man my self there is such a thing as parade grips - and there are parade grips for swords too as well as modern arms. parade grips are designed to be visually impressive but not combat effective. To me these swords seem to be held in a parade style grip - deliberately designed to not be 'ready to swing'. This sort of ceremony is exactly when a parade grip would be used. EG: one British parade grip for a sword is sword held close to body in one hand facing directly upwards, limbs and back strait. I have no idea whether parade grips were a thing in 17th century japan, but i find it highly likely - and I think that's what jazza was going for artistically. Also I totally noticed the top not being lowered thing ;) Close but no cigar jazza!
42:30 for a second there, I thought you said "some just _wore_ the nose" and I had a wonderful trip of the imagination depicting 13,000 massed, threateningly clown-nosed samurai 😂😂😂😂😂 Honestly, it would probably be terrifying
23:42 the exposed elbow is actually true for modern rifle shooting aswel. It is also true that the correct form often goes out the window under stress or when actually fighting, you are not able to do the correct form.
That is not entirely correct. More tactical/military style rifle shooting does usually implement the tucked elbow, but many of the best competition rifle shooters actually prefer to flare the elbow out claiming several benefits. In general, yeah, in modern military rifle work you are absolutely correct, but because you used a more general "rifle shooting", just wanted to bring this context also.
@@LoisoPondohva Thanks for the info, I meant "rifle shooting" as in military training. But I think you are correct. I've also seen people shooting side ways stance or symmetrical stance in the military. So it is a lot about who is teaching you.

I have paused the video upon instructed: 1. The room has too many samurai in it. Seppuku (as far as i understand it) at this time period was a deeply private and scared affair. It would be impolite to have more than was absolutely nesscary. So likely his second(the guy who de caps him) and maybe someone else to watch over it and ensure it was performed appropriately. 2. Oda is wearing clothing on his upper torso. Those are my two reasons. But i could be wrong. It could be that jazza wanted to do oda, and Ubisoft instructed him to implement yasuke somehow. Maybe in reference to a point in the game.
Tbf, the scene seems portrayed during Honnoji incident, they may have no time to prepare or something. But still, all those guards rising their weapons like that are weird

If the mission is a long term one or one that requires a lot of waiting, then it means imbedding themselves into the local population. You don't want a paper trail, either, but you also don't want to forget what your mission is. Paper was expensive so anything written would stand out. Carving a character or a pictogram on the scalp can be hidden by, well, hair.
Literally.

Oh please god not Shad. He's taken to bitching about everything and then claiming people only dislike him because of his political beliefs.

And then later he's practically begging for period Comic in the style he drew this in.
I love it.
I love the gushing of respect for Jazza lol. I don't watch many youtubers, but his channel is quite entertaining, and he seems a very genuine individual.
I think the reason Ubisoft say with complete certainty that Yasuke was a samurai is because the history consultants they talked to personally believed he was a samurai so Ubisoft interpreted that as a fact.
It's because of the agenda; they need a black one to 'humiliate' all 'r.cists'
There are more mistakes at hand than only the talk about Yasuke being a samurai. A lot more controversy as well.
Or the marketing consultants said that calling him a samurai will be better for PR and sales.

In the new Shogun series, the Shinobi depicted there trying to kill Blackthorne was disguised as a common servant, which I found very cool.

@@naebhor6931 I do get a joke, but weren't automatons the proto-robots from 16th century Europe?

I love when one of my favourites comes across another one of my favourites. Really enjoyed this one!
Also I totally noticed the top not being lowered thing ;)
Close but no cigar jazza!
This is exactly why I wanted you to review his video. So much fun going over the little details. Now we bully him into making a Burgundian Knight.
42:30 for a second there, I thought you said "some just _wore_ the nose" and I had a wonderful trip of the imagination depicting 13,000 massed, threateningly clown-nosed samurai 😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly, it would probably be terrifying
This was so much fun! I love Jazza's videos, and I love the Metatron's so this was really interesting.
So it is a lot about who is teaching you.

i am so glad you cut a break from all the none sense and were able to actually enjoy this one. another great and informative video ;)
Love your idea of a comic. You and Jazza should do a collab.
. I wouldn't be surprised if Jazza asked Shad for a few pointers before making this video. I mean, You had very little critiques. And that made me Really happy. Knowing that some of my favorite UA-camr's agree and get things right... it just makes me happy to be a part of this. "Even though I'm not, I kinda feel like it."
Don't underestimate how much research good artists put into their craft lol Being Shad's brother has nothing to do with it, especially how inaccurate some of Shad's own takes tend to be. Jazza has always struck me as a guy who will absorb all the information he can on a subject once he gets an idea for one.

I have paused the video upon instructed:
I would suspect that him being dressed is more about youtube than it is history. Gore would very likely be demonitized

As soon as I saw this Jazza’s video, literally minutes after it was uploaded, I just KNEW Metatron was gonna cover it.
While he’s an incredibly skilled artist, and I understand that his video was sponsored by Ubisoft, I feel like as someone who doesn’t know much about history, he shouldn’t have put so much stock into Yasuke, a figure that not much is known about for certain. I mean, he even has a brother, Shadiversity, who for as much shit as I’d give him, he does seem to take great pride in his historical research ability.
I feel like Jazza had the resources to do his research, but just didn’t. I wonder if maybe part of the sponsorship deal was that he HAD to draw Yasuke specifically, but we’ll never know for sure.
