Hi Nate- I converted from Evangelical Protestantism to Catholicism about 15 years ago. Like you, mine was initially more of an intellectual conversion. The emotional conversion took longer but it was rooted in facts and knowledge, and not just a kneejerk reaction. I appreciated that RCIA took so long and covered so many topics. The Catholic Church has a very long and rich history that cannot be encapsulated in a couple hours. I also studied the Catechism and read dozens of books on the faith before I converted. I feel like I am learning new and wonderful things about the church even after 15 years!!
It's nice to meet you, Nate. Welcome to the journey! I'm not a convert, I was born and raised Catholic and have been my whole life, but I do get what you mean by intellectually convinced but you don't feel it in your soul. I think every Catholic, and even everyone from every other religious background, has had those times where they were intellectually convinced that their Faith was correct but couldn't feel it. I certainly have. For a very long time. I've only just recently started feeling it again and got back into praying the rosary literally just a few days ago. If it's okay, I'd like to follow you on this journey. Watching other people on their fait journeys always ends up helping me on mine, too. Because the journey isn't done just when we've found Faith. It's when we've finally reached Heaven. So as long as I'm here on this Earth, I will forever be on my journey to God. Also, I think how you put this as documenting the journey so you have it for yourself and your kids and for others is a beautiful thing. I'll be praying for you as you take on this journey!
Hi Nate - I hope to see you on Pints With Aquinas, even before you fully convert, if you do. It's a wonderful show, with over 300,000 subscribers. You should contact Matt, he is so wonderful, humble, patient and loving. God Bless You! PS: It seem that studying the Early Church Fathers has converted many, and many ministers of other Faiths!
Hi Nate. Are you doing the Catechism in a year with Father Mike Schmitz? I’m a cradle Catholic and it’s even helping me reaffirm my faith. Between that and the Bible in a Year, I feel more spiritually in touch with my faith and closer to God. I’ve also started praying the Rosary daily and will start the 33 days to Morning Glory consecration to Mary, soon. I pray that Mother Mary embraces you and your family and helps you come closer to her son. I also pray that you will come into the true church, started by Jesus, and feel at home. I pray that you and your family remain blessed in the Mercy of Jesus Christ. Amen. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and we share the same love of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Mary just brings that love together, like all mothers do.
You know I started the podcast and was enjoying but I'm just not a disciplined person haha its been about 2 weeks since I have listened to it! Thank you for your prayers and encouragement!
@@BecomingCatholic, there's a good UA-cam channel, Catholic Productions, with Dr. Brant Pitre. Lots of videos mostly in small bites 5-10 minutes. He's an amazing scholar.
I was raised Catholic, so i was intellectually taught the rightness of my Catholic faith. As i get older, God moves in my life so much and i see Him in everything. I recently asked Him to give me humility and, whoa, be careful what you ask for! God is so good. My love for God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit has grown deeper, and because my dad was Baptist, i was always cautious of being devoted to our mother, Mary. But now i love her dearly! She always leads me to Jesus and to be submissive to God’s will, as she was and is. Life is so much richer now that i have an adult experience of my ethnic cradle faith. Just humbly ask God to show you the way, and if you want to go a little faster and with more love and humility, ask Mary to lead you to Jesus. She brings everyone to her Son.
Hi Nate, welcome on board to the rich Catholic faith, tradition and continuing work. Cradle Catholic here but always have a lot to learn with every person's unique faith journey. My reflections of late have made me appreciate my faith more - that God's Church has always been alive and well over several millenia, continuously working through everyone, specific to each one. Subscribed and will pray for you and your family. (Also well appreciate your growing devotion to Mary).
God bless you Nate….I am in a similar situation to you though I’m a grandmother who has been a committed Protestant Christian for more than 40 years. I have become convinced intellectually too but I'm waiting for God to show me the next steps. This year I'm studying the Catechism in a Year with Fr Mike Schmitz which I am loving. There are quite a few things I still have problems with but there are a few things I love about the Catholic Church too…like how it is universal and the same Bible passages are read all over the world on the same day..and how Mass seems so much more worshipful than the Protestant services where it’s mostly just the songs and the mood can depend on the worship team rather than the prayers. God is showing me more and more people who have become Catholics…like dear Mother Miriam….I also love the Catholic prayer app Amen.
God will provide. And always more wonderfully than you could have imagined. That journey may be along a route of challenge or hardship at times, but it will always be blessed and lead you home.
An intellectual conviction IS one that is guided by the Holy Spirit. How can you think your intellect is isolated from the Holy Spirit??? Btw, you CAN'T "baptize yourself."
I’m thinking maybe he meant that as a figure of speech, like being immersed in knowlege or study. Surely he already knows you cant baptise yourself. Even Jesus went to John for baptism.
God Bless you!

Hi Nate. Won t you be in trouble if your employers see your videos of you believing in Catholicism? May God protect and provide for your family 🙏🏽🙏🏽
