I had this figure way back in the day. Lately I've been seeing this new updated raven spawn when I go into stores and I couldn't help but notice how much more cheap it was compared to the old version. It was crazy to see it in a local target because spawn figures used to be kind of difficult to get a hold of. Granted, I havent seen the old one in almost 20 years until seeing your video here. But the quality is like night and day here. Not just the paint, but the materials used as well. All of McFarlanes older series seemed to be a love letter to visual design, so it's a shame to see these classic designs not get a proper update. Are all of the McFarlane series as mediocre as this revamped Raven Spawn now? These figures were such a treat back in the day...
Yes completely agree. But the newer stuff you know is nice being that and sculpted a little bit better and better articulation. But yes some of the older McFarlane stuff was visually better. With that being said the clown and the Violator and Gunslinger Spawn were actually done a really great!
@@yourfriendlyneighborhoodyo7863 Yeah some of the older stuff did seem to be more intended for a few set poses and with limited articulation. Almost being more a figure than an actual "action figure". I'll check the newer ones out that you mentioned!
@@chasedunigan7119 I've done reviews of all those figures that I mentioned. I can definitely recommend them as a collector of action figures. they were some of the best done this year.

I think the old one is way more accurate and detailful, yet the lack of articulation.... Well, does it matter in it's style? I may make mine custom with joints.... hell lot of work.... But the new one is nice too, even if unreasonably buffy for it's 'raven' style.... Well, though choice.
If the new version had more paint apps i would dare say it would blow the older Raven Spawn out the water... Its kinda sad that the new Mcfarlane toys are lacking paint, if they would just make two or three figure waves with more paint at a slightly higher price would do justice to the great details sculpted on them. I received the new Raven Spawn last week... He is huge and tower over the old mcfarlane toys... I'm hoping to see them remake on Tremor, Overtkill and Malebolgia, hopefully they will be huge.. A new megafig isn't a megafig (omega spawn) and new raven looks huge compare to highly details old raven spawn hmm idk what toddfather is upto tbh but anyhow old raven for me always
Are you going to customize him or just leave them as is? I think three are going to come out with a variance of him. Cuz I remember seeing them in purple. So I think MacFarlane's going to do a purple version of him

I love the old one. I still haven't picked up the newer one and I don't plan on it.
I customized the newer one and added a silver wash and he looks a hundred times better

I like old version is very detail for me..

Well I end up customizing the new one and I have to say he looks way better. All I did was throw some silver paint onto the new one
Looks like his armour is made from weathered human skin, look at all the faces on his armour and it looks like the necronomcon.
Because the new raven spawn is based on Kray Von Gorr
