    In this video Chris Runge shows how to use Linear Stretching to form a radius aluminum flange. The material used is .060 3003 H14 Aluminum. This technique can be done with simple hand tools or with customized dies in a planishing hammer.

    I usually use a broad masonry chisel and sledge hammer when fabricating wide flanged curves like this. I have no machinery, though, so while it's exquisitely effective/precise, I'm sure this modified anvil pneumatic planishing hammer is the way to go. Love seeing your work, man! Keep it up.

    Hi. If people don't understand stretching metal to shape it here's a idea. When you hammer the metal it is getting thinner . This is making it grow. As it grows it get longer and changes the shape. I love the cars you are building.

    Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradal'E....surely this would be worthy of hand metal built construction. All Aluminum, dropped couple Turbos Twins on a 2JZ, ECU software to red line above 9k, lastly...a nasty ZO6 rear differential. Now that would make for a very stout street GT car.

    Hello Chris
    Is the wire form buck half inch aluminium tube or rod? And do you form the tube or rod on top of a wooden buck first?

    What was a far better feat is when the suits of armor were made in the middle ages. No power tools, how did they make sheet metal and formed into a suit of armor, prevent it from rusting? Knights in shining armor.

    Once again...no information on the type of metal you are using. First: number & type 7075 aluminum ( try that - haha), next thickness; .032 , .065 etc (NOT gage), and last and very important: hardness ( T6, T4, H14 etc)
    Otherwise some good points.

    •  5 років тому

      Read the description.

    • @edstoro3883
      @edstoro3883 5 років тому

      @ Excellent, even though it took time to find description under "show more". But one question: how does 3003 1/4 hard hold up at 60 MPH? Do bugs dent the sheet metal or is it work hardened enough? Please make the metal callout a requirement . Too many people leave it off. Thus 7075 = aluminum foil i.e. same oh same oh. And we know that "aint right".
