    Vehicles arent investments and this is why we shouldn't be paying for these massively inflated prices, id also expand on the idea that mods add value, mods like this are individualized. They look good though but they're not mine

    • @Jason-Samko
      @Jason-Samko  7 днів тому +1

      many mods do not carry much vale. but tonneau cover, better tires, and window tint do. Window tint especially in the south. AS do appearance mods like the new wheels and black out package. people pay more for that stuff. 100% agree with you that these are investments and never pay high prices! Never let a truck purchase be emotional. Buy what fits your needs that you can get the lowest price on. Value comes at the pruchase not at the sale at the end.

    TFL lost about $5k on their Tacoma in June but they sold it to a dealer they regularly work with. I am actually surprised that this guy got his with a $5k discount ($38k vs $43k MSRP). That alone is news I believe because this Tacoma is in its first year of sale period and it’s already discounted by 10%?

    • @Jason-Samko

      Many toyota dealers are not budging on prices. so in his area 5k might of been the best that could be done.

    The Chinese are putting a lot of profit pressure on Toyota. China used to be a money printing machine for auto makers and now it's a money pit. Toyota is also under pressure in the 3rd world markets it used to own. This means Toyota is under a lot of pressure to cut costs.

    I had a 2024 Tacoma as a rental truck for 2 months. It’s really flimsy truck driving on the highway can feel the truck is very weak and fighting to shift. The seat rattle all the time, back seat is very tight no room for legs at all. Sadly Toyota managed to ruin their best trucks

    No one expects Toyota to "rewind the clock" regarding their move to truck turbos. What happens when they "fix" the bugs? Every mfg has downsized their truck engines and offering turbos. Turbos need to be replaced at roughly 125k (not 150k), which is a dealership's wet dream - cha-ching $thousands$. If you want to sell any truck (w/turbo) with 90 - 115k with the original turbo good luck. It's no coincidence that every mfg and after mkt maintenance warranty company stops coverage at 100k miles. Folks the fix is in !! A truck with a turbo and the mfg's and dealerships are just laughing at us. Ford is the only mfg that offers longer than 100k warranties, that is if you want a Ford.

    I predicted this. Toyota's secret sauce was in not changing things drastically. Their reliability came from slow continuous improvements and a refusal to constantly provide the "latest and greatest." This is why I raced to buy my 2023 Tacoma. Old school Toyota reliability. They'll figure these new models out, but it'll take years.

As a proud owner of a '18 TRD Pro, I love the look and extra power of the 4th Gen, but.... V6! You like the truck and have no issue with what Toyota is asking you to pay for it. It’s just not what it was and never will be. That’s why the resale value is what it is and will continue to plummet. Is sad that Toyota has lost its way and is chasing profits and government incentives rather then being concerned with the reputation that have built making affordable, long lasting midsize and full size trucks. I’m sure a 4 cylinder turbo truck will be fine for you short term. Perhaps sell it and take the terrible resale hit in 3-5 years but keeping that truck for 5-15 will come with an experience unlike past Toyota Tacoma experience.

    Guys, lets put things in perspective. The resale value makes sense only if you sell and buy a new car every year or every two years. If you buy a car you like and intend to keep it a long time, the resale value is meaningless….you’re not loosing any vehicle value because it has a practical and longevity value for you. So, if you purchase a vehicle with the intent to keep it “forever” and the vehicle will last many many years reliably, you are not loosing any money. You cannot compare the concept of “flipping” cars and longevity/reliability. Two different concepts- two different approaches.
    On a different note, the only simple and reliable truck in this segment is the V6 Frontier. The 4cyl turbos will be dropping like flies as time goes on. Doesn’t matter how much they rave about the new 4cyl turbo trucks, you can’t cheat physics…the turbos cannot and will not have the longevity of NA V6 - plain and simple. Unless you’re in business of flipping cars every couple of years…in that case you don’t care.

      @bobcook8576 8 днів тому

      Until you're in an accident and your truck is totaled. Your insurance carrier will cut you a check for a much lesser value. Resale always matters for the 1st 10 years.

    • @Jason-Samko
      @Jason-Samko  7 днів тому

      depends on how many miles you drive a year. For instance I drive a new truck every 2 years and its cost me less than 100 bucks a month to do that. And if I were to plan to keep a truck for long term it would be wore out in 5 years with 200k miles. and then worth 5k. meaning my cost would of been 7-900 per month and I would have to repeat it again as soon as it was paid off. If you are someone that only drives 10k miles a year what you are saying might be true. But it doesnt work for many of us that drive alot. This time of year im doing a 5k oil change every 3 weeks.

    • @Jason-Samko
      @Jason-Samko  7 днів тому

      Resale value is not at the end it happens at the purchase. all trucks resale at the end is within 7% of any other brand. But the deal you get when you buy it is where the power is. If you get 20% off when you buy it you have much better value at the end than if you bought it for 5% off.

    The main reason I was able to get my Gladiator is because they did so well on my 2021 Tacoma trade in. I couldn't imagine having that much offset and negative equity on a brand new Toyota. The tundra Tacoma and 4 runner were their cash cows, not sure how the company is going to continue especially after extremely expensive recalls and engine replacements

      Toyota will be fine, unfortunately. The profit they are making on these new shitboxes must be insane, otherwise why would they do it?

    My opinion, I think the 3 gen Tacoma is a lot better newer, 4 gen Tacoma but I think Toyota corporate had to go to better emission compliance than anything that’s why they had to go to a four-cylinder turbo at the cost of reliable and dependability for the consumer and everything’s made in Mexico, except the engine that built in Huntsville, Alabama

    We all knew that 2.4l turbo specs were going to get old quick and people were going to regret buying this small engine truck. I told folks if you have a 3rd gen I would hold on to it cause the value and build quality of that truck will be highly desirable. Watch how fast it flips to where the 3rd gen trade in will be higher than the new 2024 tacoma.

    My friend, a Toyota tech, says problems are popping up on the previous generation truck. They are blowing head gaskets around 100K miles. Always the same cylinder. He says he's getting tired of doing head gaskets.

    • @HAHA.GoodMeme
      @HAHA.GoodMeme 7 днів тому

      This is because the official coolant change interval is too long. It gets acidic and eats away at everything. When it fails in these trucks, the engine still runs it just leaks coolant until the gaskets are replaced.
      Change your oil every 5k miles and coolant every 30k miles and this wont happen to you.
