  • SOLD Offered for sale is this absolute time capsule, a 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser with only one prior owner and 3K miles - 3K is not a misprint, 3464 to be exact. This car was purchased for an elderly woman who rarely drove it, and spent most of its time in climate controlled storage, but being driven regularly enough to keep it fresh. This is almost certainly the best preserved PT in the country, and looks, drives, and smells new. The Surf Blue Metallic paint is still gleaming, and the slate cloth inside is as it was the day it left the factory. The car comes with a book set, 2 remote keys, and the original window sticker. If you are looking for a clean PT, I would wager you'll find none better than this! SOLD SOLD

      No doubt there were some diamonds in the rough, but most were heaps. Those that looked good likely had hidden damage. The dealer was interested in using mine as a standard trade until I mentioned it was frame damaged and impossible to align to factory specs. Rightfully to the junk yard it went.
      If anything was truly nice, the trade in value would have been higher that what the C2C program offered.

    I once drove one of these things from Nevada to California. I've never driven a vehicle that didn't have a single redeeming feature before or since. If it was up to me they would all be crushed into cubes and turned into dog food cans. I am not bitter.

    Used to own one. Drove the crap out of it in college. The poor thing had 192,000 miles on it when I sold it for $500 haha. Never gave me any trouble though. I kept it for college because I didn’t want to drive my nice car and get it beat up in the parking lots. Still had the original engine and tranny in it and still started and ran like a trooper. Ugly as sin and terribly uncomfortable, but it never let me down when I jumped in and started it up.

    It's true this car has no redeeming qualities... except, it's an irreplaceable part of automotive history. These were once everywhere. Now they're nowhere. 3400 miles turns back the clock to 2009. What would *you pay* to be ten years younger? Put it in a museum just to relive for a moment, our collective past.

    I really feel it would’ve been cool if they made this a Plymouth. It was by no means a luxury car, and Plymouth needed all the brand identity it could get back around the turn of the millennium. They should’ve emphasized an S-R/T 4 or S-R/T 6 turbocharged hot hatchback version with a 6-speed manual transmission and an all wheel drive system.

    I owned a 2005 pt gruiser gt convertible for 6 years or so...got lots of compliments on its styling. Nice 17"chrome rims and the turbo 4banger. I loved it, but stuff started tearing up at 11k miles! Wheel bearings and engine mounts and weird electrical glitches with the top.

      Had an 06 drop top GT with the 5 speed manual. Believe me. I got it at 90k something miles. Definitely wasn’t up to being trouble free. 8 months later, A/C AND turbo went out. That was it for me, especially since I live in Tampa. Top also didn’t operate correctly. Gotta love Mercedes-provided hydraulic pumps.
      I loved that car when it worked. Didn’t totally love me though!

    Bill, God bless you for selling an ultra low mileage, bright blue PT Cruiser base. I love this overview/review haha. Honestly that PT is a great car and will be for someone. I get to look at a Daimler-Chrysler love child tomorrow, a Crossfire. Looks like a turd at 165k miles. It's an '04 manual coupe in black. Going to look at it and if all checks out I'll offer him $1800 and I max out at $2200. My plan is to clean it up and list it for I don't know 3k? Hell I'll ask $3995 and have it sit in the driveway forever till I find someone for it. If the guy wants anymore for it he can go to hell.

    History. The integration between Fiat and Chrysler dates back to 2009 after Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization on 30 April 2009. On 10 June 2009, Chrysler emerged from the bankruptcy proceedings with the United Auto Workers pension fund, Fiat, and the U.S. and Canadian governments as principal owners.

    It has become fashionable to hate the PT Cruiser and for really no discernible reason. I have bought a few over the years, beginning with a new 2007 base manual that my wife drove for three years, a 2003 dressed up (leather, sunroof, etc) high-mileage automatic that a daughter had as a first car and drove for three years, and most recently a 2004 GT Turbo that another daughter is currently driving. While never purporting to be sporty, they are extremely practical vehicles that can accommodate four adults in comfort, can cruise for long trips at a steady 120 km/h, are nimble in the corners, start without a block heater on -30C Alberta mornings, and have the capacity to carry all sorts of sizeable cargo. This Richard Hammond review comparing a PT to a VW Beetle more or less nails it: ua-cam.com/video/m6TusVFmr2E/v-deo.html

    my boyfriend has a super beat up 2001 black PT Cruiser that he bought for $200 from his uncle. the dashboard is destroyed from the sun (it’s literally in pieces), the paint on the hood is fucked, and there’s cigarette burns on the seats. he has enough money to get a new car but says his “stallion” gets him from point a to point b. 😐 i don’t know why people love these shitboxes so much. the interior is like a cheap chinese toy car.

    If I could support Chryslers through picketing I would. Such an innocent car with a harmless appearance in this society, only the people with the most wretchful hearts would destroy something so cute and ink
    innovative as the PT and GT Cruiser. These cars were not invented to bring the worst out in people, they were simply invented to be loved and cherished by people who know how to treat them well. I wish the hate could stop, there's nothing as small and cute looking as these cars and I would do anything to keep their history and existence in this world so everyone can remember these mistreated cars. Destroying these cars is like destroying money in the cheapest and most disgusting way possible just for people to give out entertainment. There are better ways to get entertainment with that money you used to buy these Chryslers than destroying what they're worth. I will help these cars be remembered and exist before they are all destroyed and they are never able to be made again. In my righteous hand I vow to take care of these cars and make them burdenless!

  • @jasongerhard5150
    @jasongerhard5150 3 роки тому

    Anyone saying anything positive about this car didn't own one or drive one for an extended period of time. In all the cars I've owned and my wife owned and my sister owned lol, a 2001 PT Cruiser with roughly 40,000 miles was by far the worst of them all. At approximately 102,000 miles we had replaced the motor, transmission and multiple other components. I had to chuckle when Bill said it was a well built car, he's never owned one. This car was not fast, the seats were not comfortable on trips anything over 1/2 hour, it was loud and as spacious as they look on the outside, even though they're tall it felt quite cramped in there, I also hear that their safety wasn't very good either and for it being a small car (which I think was classified as a truck?) no 4wd it got horrible mileage. One of the dumbest or almost comical designs of this car to me was the battery started going dead if it sat for a while, thought it needed a new battery even though it was replaced not that long before this started happening. I happened to notice she got home one day and went in the house and I was sitting in the back yard and noticed the fog lights were on, only the fog lights, so I shut them off but it was strange as I'd never seen a car where the fog lights would turn on without headlights or parking lights. It's also worth noting all the lights were controlled with the turn signal stalk somehow. I mentioned this to her and told her not to use them until we could figure out what was going on. For the next week or so it was fine. Then it started happening again and she tried hanging something on the turn signal stalk when she would leave it and that did work for a while. Long story short something in the turn signal stalk went bad and would allow the fog lights to come on anytime on their own. Horrible design in my opinion.
    Funny thing is for a car last built 12 years ago I rarely see one anymore. Cash for clunkers was a disaster but the one good thing is it took car of a lot of PT Cruisers.
