Actually, on Chrysler radios you get a second bank of presets if you push each button a second time. Same thing with the button to set the presets -- push it twice and you'll see SET 2 on the display, indicating that you're programming the second bank of presets. GM did a similar thing with their Delco radios -- pushing two adjacent preset buttons simultaneously will give you another preset.

I have been driving since 1966. I have owned many classical cars. I own a 2004 PT Cruiser, Base Model with 5 Speed. My PT Cruiser had just over 97,000 original miles, when I bought it, and is in showroom condition. I love the dash confiuration; the cabin has plenty of head room, (I am 6' 4"). I am impressed by the excellent overall fit and finish of this vehicle. Doors, Windows, Locks, are all made rock solid. The ride is solid, and quiet. The handling is tight sporty. The 2.4 delivers excellent smooth power, and has a high redline limit, (But I rarely exceed 3,500 RPM). . My PT Cruiser has had its timing belt, thermostat, and water pump replaced. There has been no oil burning; absolutely no coolant loss after more than 1,000 miles of driving, since I bought it. With a new set tires, no other repairs have been needed. The cargo room is impressive, and quite useful. It is a true mini cargo truck. My PT Cruiser was garage kept by an elderly couple. The Butter-Cream paint-finish is flawless, and after a hand/paste wax job, shines like new. This is a true collectable America Classic!

I actually had a PT GT for a while when I was in college. The window switches are something you get used to. It's nothing worse than my Mercedes that mounted them in the middle for years. The beeping when you put it in reverse was for the Getrag transmission 5speed because it was a dogleg so they were concerned people in the US might not be used to that and accidentally shift into reverse at a light. The little hooks on the b-pillar was for a cargo net that I believe was optional. So when you folded the rear seats flat to get a lot of storage you had a little cargo stop so it wouldn't move up if you stopped really fast. The door buttons do in fact freeze up in the winter. It was comical and usually not too bad. I used the plastic seat back many times between classes to study and have a quick bite. The rear wing was absolutely silly. As a college student the back table was great for tailgate. The greatest thing was after you put a blow off valve you could pull a vacuum line off the wastegate and then run a ton of boost. It made for a very fun driving experience although the handling was a nightmare at high speeds. It was still tons of fun to blow by all sorts of people that thought they had a fast car. People like stock mustangs, camaros, and even some of the older vettes. The worst thing was coming up to a light and being tall. With the windshield angle and height you couldn't see the light. Ugly but fun car over all.
Well said and I had a red one myself (an automatic). I didnt think much and did hate the PT until I saw the ad said 'turbo', then personally fell in love with it after driving it for a while. I wish I still had it but I gave it away after the engine blew.

I’m QUITE OFFENDED about EVERY NEGATIVE WORD you stated in this introduction when I first saw this vehicle I knew I had to have it and I had a very positive experience the years I had it , I bought a Black limited model during the beginning of its life when there was at least a six month wait if not longer to receive them . I happen to go into my dealership and was able to negotiate one that someone else was supposed to pick up that day , she didn’t come that day so I was able to drive off the lot with it and I was EXTREMELY satisfied with my purchase
A friend drove a PT and I remember having to lean forward as a passenger to be able to see the traffic lights above and tell him when the red light was over.
When I was a kid my friends brother had a PT and I remember sitting in the back wondering why the damn window switches were on the floor and since I started watching Doug, I have been wondering if he would ever review this car and point out this quirk! Today is a good day
I'm pretty sure the B pillar hooks are for securing grocery bags in the back. Actually a great idea. My Camry has a couple hooks in the trunk for that, and I love them.
The “raised switches”, it’s to easily swap the switch and the 12v socket when swapping it to the European version. To support your rant about cheaping out lol.
@Lassi Kinnunen The Saturn Ion also had center gauges, I think for the same reason. Make it easy to install for LHD or RHD, just rotate the gauge cluster one way or the other.
Doug gets so many things wrong in this video but most especially what “people” think of it. I’ve had a GT since the first year, 2003, and had many, many people tell me the love the styling. It is very quick and made much quicker with the usual intake, exhaust and tune mods that cost almost nothing (300+hp/320+ft/lbs). There are also a bunch of aftermarket performance mods available as well including suspension, big turbos, wheels and dozens of body mods made for this car especially for the front ends. Perhaps the biggest mistake Doug makes is that completely misunderstands what this vehicle actually is. It isn’t a car, it was the worlds fastest production van. Officially it is categorized as an SUV because it has so much interior space. The rear seats come out completely or flip up all the way against the fronts and with the roof height it has a lot more room in the rear than most full size SUVs with their seats up. That is what Doug’s mystery hooks are for: There are latches that secure the rear seats forward with some straps that are stored underneath them. But that is only a couple of the configurations. Doug also completely missed that the front seat folding down flat wasn’t just a convenient desk area, which it is and works great as such from the driver seat as well, but is also folds down flat because the rear seats fold at the same level and the rear deck can be also placed at this same same level making a full back to front space of something like 9 feet. That also leaves a fairly large space under the rear deck for storing stuff. I’ve moved a lot of large furniture items that would not fit in anything other than a minivan thanks to this flexibility. That is why so many women got this car. It is actually remarkably practical and in the GT, fast, yet small enough to be easy for parking and gets pretty good gas mileage. Of course this isn’t all Doug got very wrong. The rear panel flips up against the rear seats because that exposes these hooks that are on the bottom which are perfect for hanging grocery bags. It also has tie down hooks as well as a rear 12v electric access for tailgating, something that few if any other vehicle had at the time. And yes the radio has 10 presets and a 6 disc CD changer. He also missed the drawer under the passenger seat. Include ABS and traction control which at the time were far from universal and add the heated, leather very comfortable seats with a huge amount of head room and my fully loaded GT was $25K brand new in 2003. The only car that could compete for performance per price was the WRX STi hatchback which became available in the US the same year, a vehicle that has much less space and flexibilty and in those early years was arguably much uglier. Today a GT Cruiser will go for $7-10K without any mods. So if everybody hates it so much, why is it worth anything? Because Doug is very very wrong about this car, I mean van.
2003 GT with the 5-speed was awesome. We've had two more - 2008 Ltd with turbo and a NA 2010 Classic. It's not that we're just cruiser fanatics but three times running, we just couldn't find anything we liked as well for anywhere near the price. But the GT was something else; I don't know what product manager was responsible for that but they deserved a raise. I've read that for '03 they dipped into the M-B supply chain for the front seats but also, getting that Getrag 5-speed was a coup. I was ex-Saab 9000 and Audi 90 and the PT Cruiser GT was at least level with them both. I knew from the moment I rolled across the dealership parking lot in the GT that the car *had it* and I thoroughly enjoyed driving it.
8:46 I know that this is a skoda joke but it fits this car Why is the heated rear window Important to Chrysler? So their customers can keep their hands warm while they push it
Why is this chat fighting over a pos aztec and a pos pt cruiser? They both equally are niche terrible cars. But yes they are cool because they are unique.
He has bought the car. If he likes the styling and doesn't mind the poor quality he can still be happy about it. If you only need "some car" to go from A to B, there are worse cars to do that.
i didn't even know since we removed the seats completely to get more loading capacity ... i also didn't know that there was a table feature included in the trunk cover
...why do seats need to be reinforced when in the down/flat position? I'm imagining a sort of spring-loaded system where the seats fight to be folded and when the user inevitably loses their grip, it snaps back into the upright position, smashing the user in the process. Announcer: *TKO*
I recently acquired a PT GT 5-speed, partly because of this review. This is a lot of car for the money. Doug's criticisms of the styling are subjective but we're all entitled to our opinions...imho that's part of the charm of the car, the looks mixed with the SRT-4 engine. His criticisms of the interior are almost all incorrect...e.g. the interior plastics are on par with Hondas of that era...the vents adjust perfectly fine...the defrost buttons are that way for symmetry reasons...etc. It's like he wanted to hate the car and found stuff to say toward that end. The handling is crap, he is correct, but as I said that's part of the charm...you're in a PT Cruiser folks, it's not a sports car, but it has a sports car engine. For the money it's a ton of fun. Check my channel for some fair reviews.
I’ve had mine for 20 years ( manual transmission) it’s been extremely reliable for the 240k I’ve put on it. Only issue ever was the alternator went out.
Doug, I had a rental PT for 2 weeks and although it was the poster child for cheap cars, I actually still like the design and I thought it was a very practical design for a small car, much more than my Crosstrek. Yes, I know it wouldn't last more than 60k miles. Oh, and gas mileage was horrendous. Mine had a very cool analog clock.
@Kim Kukich Was this car debaged? I loved mine (regular version), even knowing about the engine being an interference engine. I admit, I like odd ball cars but this car doesn't get enough credit. They become unreliable because they loose resale value and are sold to people who don't maintain them.
@Kim Kukich ha ha, awesome. Doug is a domestic car hater. I'm not a fan of the PT but the idea of a neon turbo engine in it is awesome -once the unreliable parts were replaced. Find some barely legal street slicks and humiliate people as you smoke them on the highway or track.
Ryan Reed I wouldn’t say you’d humiliate many people with just ‘barely legal slicks’, not sure what that means, but stock they were only about 220 or 230 horsepower and a 0-60 of 7 seconds. Don’t get me wrong but for that car, engine, and time period it was fairly impressive but it’s still not that quick.
@@GMbowtie350 it was fairly easy to get 400 HP out of that 2.4 turbo, (i had an Eagle Talon TSi Turbo at the time) at least i talked to guys that owned the Neon and they were fast, garbage suspension, but fast, So if this is the same engine it could easily be a sleeper.
I have one and I like it. For a small car it sure has leg room. Great for flat towing as long as it's a standard transmission. Mine has no leaks and no rust because I take care of it.
2007 pt cruiser took me to Louisiana and back to Texas for a few years . 800 mile round trip . When ever I had an issue I could easily fix it . I’m not mechanically inclined what do every but I’ve done all the work for this car . Super easy to work on . We still got it . I'd say Doug is in the Hate it crowd. There is no between. I loved it. Cheap easy to fix reliable. Check. Jeep Liberty 2005 expensive , cheap to repair, mod and a piece of shit. And clearly brother almost got shafted if he didn't know everything about one cause it became extremely clear the dealership hid a front end driver side crash. ie if you were inside a 2005, the PT just looks better. and can mod it. Even the Turbo you can mod the hell out of it with super turbo intakes. And I've been told again but love and hate it people (GT = love hate LE = Love Hate Turbo which could be the GT Love hate) that the Turbo from the Love it folks.. was great in the snow. Not sure about the Manual's. Those are harder to find. PT's don't stay on the lot much and alot of young people drive them. What they think of it at the time we need a sign somewhere in LED saying cars = :) or cars = POS. I'm sure that rather expensive car he attempted to fit in and couldn't = a POS car cause whats the point of a car if you can't fit in the thing. Plymouth Prowler gets a pass. cause everyone wants to look at it and not drive it... and it won't break the bank. Not cheap by any means. But unlike the serenno (horrid spelling but hopefully someone gets it) will break the bank and still won't fit. cause I'm tall myself. PT Had plenty of leg room. Scion almost has too much leg room. PT was way ahead of it's time..

They seem small, they are actually pretty roomy inside.

Yes there is some here in UK
2001: the car of the year

Nah that's their objective
I hope you don’t like ford
everything chrysler build was garbage
They have gotten a whole lot better. I'm no Chrysler fan boy but to their credit they really have gotten a lot better.
@@tommyhallum2747 still cheap and ugly garbage
Doug the type of guy that thinks everyone calls it “ PT loser” just because he does
EL PATRON 2K no I definitely call it a pt loser or piece of trash cruiser because these things are shit
Adam Stephens I call it the Post Traumatic Cruiser
Ive called it loser cruiser
I've been calling it that for years, only because it is true
FYI the hooks on the side in the backseat area are so that when you flip the seats up and forward there's a a strap with a a clip that you can clip on that hook to keep the sea up
