More!!! Just more driving tips like this. Focus on exciting, rhythm sections, passing, making room for father drivers, racing etiquette from a pros perspective, scrubbing, hard braking after large jump to make corner.....anything and everything....bring it. Love to hear driving discussed especially from pros and alternate views. Love to here another pro give same lesson.
It's cool to hear what someone's thinking is and what they're preference is to handling various corners. This video has a ton of very helpful information in it. Can't wait to work on corners next time I hit the track.
I just love this series and this is one of the best parts yet. I mean how many beginners ask themsemselves: Is it OK to feel like completely stopping before a 180? Is it OK to not jam on the brakes on at all in a wide sweeper? How important is a good landing before a corner? This video answers it all. Great job, thumbs up! Greetings from Germany
I haven't raced RC cars in 20 years but after watching your vids I kinda want to get back in again. I need to stop watching but I can't lol Great vids, lots of good info, keep up the great work!
As asked. Would love to see a detailed video on jumps. Setup, take off, "flying the car" (adjusting car for landing ramp), and landing. Great video keep up great racing content. Learning is neverending in this hobby!! Thanks Ryan
I can see how the chassis slap would be a negative effect. So you’d definitely need to know how to approach into the jump. That’s some damn hard driving! So entertaining to watch!! Thanks to Lee, and Ryan, a very interesting Video! 👍
Setup becomes critical... tires/suspension will have major effect on how effectively you can break and control around a 180... I'd LOVE to see a similar video similar to this, but integrate some setup decisions to enable the driver's style... in ebuggy... I tend to have a loose rear end and I'm still learning to correct that... keep doing these, please!!!
Yes I 2nd this. How also to set up or what set up for pers say the 22 5.0 WHAT IS NEEDED TO MAKE IT FOR CARPET (PARTS NEEDED) and for dirt . I have the 22 sr and just got baxk in to racing. I will be racing carpet cause its close and will do dirt also but i have no idea whats needed to make am sr" 22 5.0 to be compatible for carpet. Plz and tnx Ryan
Thanks very much Lee and Ryan, this was an awesome video! Hopefully there’s more to come like it. This knowledge is really what new guys are really thirsty for.
Thanks for this, perfect timing! There is a difficult hairpin that was added to our local tracks layout recently and these tips were perfect and helped me get that section down much better than I was. Glad I didn't wait until after the weekend was over to watch the video (which was likely) and I found time to watch it the night before.
Hey Ryan, great video. I would love to see a second camera mounted to the transmitter showing the throttle/brake and steering inputs on the LCD screen while a pro like Lee does several laps. You can put the second video in the bottom corner showing the LCD screen while the primary camera is the typical head mount tracking the buggy...that would be so helpful! Oh and his ESC configurations too ;-). BTW, I talked to you at Thunder Alley in NC a couple of weeks go. Thanks so much for stopping by!
So far I've seen the first four episodes and am quite pleased. I've been racing locally (local meaning mostly within a 75 mile radius since my closest track is about 40 miles away) for about 14 years now. Sadly, I feel that I've plateaued and am just maintaining. I hope the hints I've observed in these first 4 videos will help. I'll let you know. BTW, I'm not expecting much. Most of my track time is on carpet or artificial turf with 2WD and 4WD buggy. I do race some dirt with ebuggy and 4WD Short Course. I'm also almost 62, which is a significant challenge all unto itself. 🙂
How about a video, "A lap with _____ (insert pro's name)" where you follow a pro racer taking several laps at a local track and he discusses how he uses throttle, brake and steering to get around the course then puts it all together lap after lap? Similar to this but for an entire lap 👍 Maybe some setups tips as well.
I'd love to see a video on aerial control, i see a lot of the fast guys will angle their car mid air (look at 16:58). I am sorta able to do it with my 4wd but 2wd is harder for me to do it
Not letting off completely, is a frear tip. (Im a newbie) I wouod really like to learn more about rasio settings and speed controller settings. I have a Ream associated 2wd buggy. A flysky rasio and Hobbywing XR10 pro G2S
What about the esc setup, so much of how the car handles comes from how the esc behaves off throttle as well. The 180 turns are a perfect example, having that perfect trail brake setup plays a huge role. Escs also have modern features which aide in managing how the chassis pitches and moves
It's interesting to see how different you can approach a U-turn in rc probably due to rc beeing very light weight. How much slower would it be to take that U-turn with a classic apex ?. Right position, brake, cut in left, accelerate out wider. Have you done "Take overs" as a topic?
When your cornering or just on the track in general do you have eyes set right on the rc or a little ahead? Thanks and great videos! Looking forward to following.
Great Video.. Keep em coming. maybe some diagnosis and fix to set up problems. Like Steering , too much or not enough . Or loose rear end. Would also like someone to really explain droop and when to use less and why
@Ryan Harris and @Lee Setser is it easier to drive a 4wd buggy with these techniques? I don't race I Drive my 1/10 4wd buggy on a all dirt baseball Daimond and put cones out and create and setup my own course/track. Aaron Honolulu,Hawaii
Ryan, tracks with multiple, different jumps - how do the pro drivers seem to consistently hit these with the perfect speed to land on the down ramp and drive away every lap, and not come up short or too long? Thanks for the great content as usual 👍🏻
I hear you are coming up my way next month might have to come check you out at Adrenalin RC I used to race years ago thought about getting back in it but I follow you just sayn. I raced carpet oval back in the day things have changed so much batteries and the way radios change freq is way different.
Hey man I love your content and your tips. As an idea for future videos I'd like to request how to break out of your class to move up to the next class, or maybe how to get into like an entry level mod class would be a very interesting topic
14:11 nice Crocs, Ryan 😆 excellent pro insight from Lee- a believer that a more consistent aggressive corner strategy will win races (Lord Phend) just more difficult to execute for the average Joe Sixpacks out there ~ Would like to see some pro technique 101 on flying rc track jumps! Keep up the good work from here in NJ 👍
Awesome video! These are some great driving tips! Just wondering, what camera did you use for those slo-mo shots? Also, you may know already that Arrma, have just released a TLR tuned roller. Would love to hear your thoughts on that! Anyway, thanks for posting! 👍
Everyone mentions Dakotah but here’s the fact. He may be the fastest for one lap or even 5 minutes which makes him great in an electric race. But u wanna man up with the big boys and run 45 min to 1 hr, he’s never gonna win because he’s not consistent over the long haul. That’s why Maifield rules the long races. He’s just so so so consistent without crashing. U can count on Dakotah to crash in anything over 8 minutes. Maifield the man!!!
@@bryanwagner4403 don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike the guy but to now that’s been his story. Even the LiveRC announcers say it. Why didn’t he win the 1/10 4wd World title over Bruno Cuello? He crashed with no one near him. Every nitro race u see the same. TQ or close to it then mistakes in the main.
This is good, to improve the explanation, you need to freeze frame the video or use a photo and annotate it with arrows. Then use some Lee's description as a voice over. This would be an even clearer way to explain it. I think it would take your videos to a next level!
This entire video is at its core all about managing weight transfer but I don’t think that was stated once in the video. He talks a lot about “lift throttle oversteer” but never calls it that. I used to drive my 350Z at VIR and Summit Point Raceway and experienced first hand how controlling weight transfer affects the car.
Smooth vs pivoting aggression styles of driving hits home with me, I think that can lead to some very good points on passing, blocking, and driver etiquette on the course (future vid?). I tend to race my 1/8 ebuggy smooth and my nitro buggy very “Scandinavian”, but depending on traffic I’ll pick n choose my style to either overtake or possibly defend my position (race line vs hot lap line). I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Great vid!
What I want to know is how do pro drivers maintain a consistent pace. When I look at my lap times, I'll have a fast lap maybe a second or two faster than my average lap time but a pro might have less than half a second difference between their fast and average lap times. What makes them so consistent?
Lol. I was watching this video and I thought of the same person Dakota phend. He’s very aggressive driver. Too much aggressive can cause you the race. .

It always cracks me up when people try to break down their driving. "Idk bro i just drive it" is what i feel like they always want to say.

As a racing noob, loving this series! Cheers Ryan👍🏻
"little bit much sketchier" accurately describes my driving style lol. remember kids smooth is fast!
Love these driving lesson videos thank you!!
I’m kinda new to the on road side of racing and what I’ve been told by fast guys is you want to go wide into a corner and tight out of the corner.
