Ur so creative i love it !!! Using a childrens product in such an out the box way !!! Would have never thought of this !!! Love it !!!! ❤❤❤❤love the purples in the sky !!!
This was such fun to watch! Love your thought process using all the different mediums and experimenting. You can tell in your voice that you enjoyed colouring this picture.
Wow! You are very brave in your selection of media. Your willingness to experiment and the great results you achieve make you an artist. Thanks for your inspiration to add more than just color but texture and sparkle and shine to pictures. A whole higher level of work.
Really enjoyed this. Beautiful coloring. I love seeing people actually coloring with crayons, pigment sticks, oil pastels etc... and not just doing backgrounds like soft pastels or using them like watercolors. Nice that you mentioned Maia as she's another person who is coloring with oil pastels.
What a fun video this was to watch. I feel so inspired to break out different mediums and take a chance. Your ideas came together beautifully. Thank you once again❤❤❤❤❤
Wow you are awesome! Just going for it with a different medium it looks awesome!!! I too am looking forward to Johannas new book too!! This is just lovely! Enjoyed this very much!!!
Your explanation was great. I hadn't seen twistable oil pastels prior to this video. I think colorist are artist as well. Excellent Content and the finished page is beautiful. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you K! You can enjoy your picture work, well done. I do not use pastels at all, however I am in a little coloring slump. It will pass and I may gain interest in this media example at a later time. You also get more pictures done than me, so no worries as always I enjoy your artwork.
Good Morning K! Wow, This picture is So Beautiful! Overall I Love this Picture. You really did an Excellent Job on it! I Love the Background and it's Perfect! Congratulations! 👍🏻😊💜🖌️🎨🖍️
Hey k! Love the page! Me, I’m currently struggling in my coloring at the moment. Currently going to play with watercolor just on some blank pages. Having some feelings that aren’t very pleasant. Had my very first buddy color ever that I set up (which was nerve wracking to do for me) and then she asked if someone else could join in and I said of course! And then they ended up finishing there’s and posting together without me. My page is like half done but it just made me realize that they had been talking together and not in the group chat with me. I honestly don’t think she meant to hurt my feelings in anyway and I haven’t even said anything to her but it’s clear that they just forgot about me and did it together. So now I’ve been fighting with myself on whether to even finish the page. I know this sounds so stupid because it is something stupid to be so upset over. I’m trying real hard to not let this taint how I feel on buddy colors but it was really hard to put myself out there to begin with and I don’t know that I will again. I just was so excited…I think that’s why it’s affecting me so much. But anyways.. sorry for the sob story. This is the first time I’ve even mentioned this whole thing to anyone. Not even my hubby because i just feel so stupid. ❤ to you and I always love the content ❤
Hi there. Don’t feel stupid about it, I can understand how you feel. It’s easy to say, but try to forget about it and put it behind you, don’t think about it anymore. Also, don’t be put off with doing buddy colours in the future. Your buddy partners should have kept you in the loop and waited for you and kept you informed, but that’s on them, not you. Chin up, smile and be happy and definitely finish that page, for yourself, to make you happy! 😊
I do like it and your explanation of what and why you have used. You asked about what new books we are excited about and I am looking forward to Goblins in the Hollow by Densye Klette. ( I hope I got the name of the book and her name spelled correctly.) I understand it will come out next year. I enjoy watching you color!
I think rather than painterly, the oil pastels, on this page anyway, gave I a naive look. That's often a term given to folk art pictures and this has some of that look to it. As I watched you it reminded me of the look that the Bambino clay crayons can give and so I got those out and started on a picture from Fur Balls book. My first one in there. The crayons are liking the paper and allowing me to layer them nicely. The only thing I don't like about the Bambino crayons is the tiny size. My fat fingers get tired holding such skinny little sticks. Granulating paints really need a textured paper to work well on. I have a White Nights set but mostly use them on watercolour paper as I can't get the effects in colouring books. Alena seems able to use them in colouring books, but then she's in a league of her own where colouring talent is concerned. As for your channel, it's long been a favourite. I've not watched much over summer so I have some catching up to do, which I will enjoy as the evenings draw in (boooo! I hate that). The nicest thing is how much you have grown in confidence since you started. You were so scared to talk at the start and now you chat on as if we were all there with you. Final hurdle to cross is to stop denigrating yourself! We all forget things as adults. We have so much to remember all the time. Our brains never get a proper rest. Thank you for creating your magic with mixed media. It's always a joy to see.
Thanks Sue, I’ve definitely grown in confidence on my channel and got more used to speaking on camera. Everything is a learning curve but I a, so grateful for all the support on here from people, it is really special! The days are definitely getting shorter and colder, hope you have a wonderful week x
I love this tutorial .. you made me giggle ,when you said you forget stuff. I am 48 and I often forget stuff....😘 Hahahaha.🥰 I want to buy some books from Japan ....but I have tight budget. need to buy xmas presents…..so far I am slowly coloring in Reta Berman under the sea book…however not done coloring for 2 months, as I have no inspiration to color, sketch or needle felt. I do love your channel and all the help you have given me .🥰 Happy coloring K xxxxxx lovely coloring xxxxx 🥰
It never crossed my mind that you could blend neocolor i with a blender pen 😂, i have been playing with them since end of july but applying them to get full coverage and that shiny finish .. always learning something new from you . Thanks!
Hi k they look beautiful.. I love MR Bean omg he is classic when I was growing up I loved watching his show and the movie he did rowan Atkinson he is one of my favourite we get a lot of British shows on Tv hear in Australia too.. thank you for sharing ❤❤❤😊😊😊xxxx
This is such a beautiful, vibrant page! and definitely more appreciated as you used mediums that you aren't expert in them, very impressive. Also, thank you for the great idea. I'm allergic to the soft oil, and I can't touch them with bare hands, so the twistable sticks are such a great solution! Do colored pencils work well on the oil pastel without fixing it before?
If the oil pastel is applied quite thickly on the page, then pencil has a bit of trouble going over it, otherwise, not. I find Prismas work best around the oil pastel to fill in any ‘gaps’
It's a beautiful picture I love everyone coloring pages
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! Finally I can use pastels and stay clean !!!!😊❤

I wonder if a coat of glazing liquid would have prevented the bleed thru?
Yes, I think it would have stopped bleed through most definitely!
