20 years and it all went by in a flash ⚡The American Idiot 20th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition is out now 💣💥 Go give it a listen or grab a copy greenday.lnk.to/americanidiot20thdeluxe
They have probably hundreds of songs in the vault. I believe they recorded over 70 songs during the trilogy and only 38 were released. You also have Cigarettes & Valentines, 21st Century Breakdown unreleased songs, among many more.
Agreed. If Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" could be a big hit in 2022, and Linkin Park could top the Alternative charts with a previously unreleased 20-year-old song, then why not?
This song is and will always be on my top 5 of Green Day songs! This version is just as epic as it should be. I really hope that Pasalacqua has had been rerecorded in this sessions too
This song is also one of my favorites . But if you look at the track list for the outtakes sadly pasalacqua isn’t on there 😔, doesn’t mean they don’t have it and could release it sometime later 🤷♂️
Maybe they could have put "409" on Insomniac, and "Christie Road" on Nimrod. They resurrected "Haushinka" and "Good Riddance" (both Dookie era songs) for the latter after all. Or alternately they could have all been standalone or soundtrack singles, and/or put on International Superhits or Shenanigans. It's just too bad this version stayed under wraps completely until now, and that the "409" version was relegated to an unmixed release as a B-side.
Welcome to Paradise was absolutely the right choice to put onto Dookie. This just goes to show how many amazing options they had 😩 I just want Slappy & Kerplunk mixed like this !!
Ngl, half the reason I don’t really come back to songs from Kerplunk and Slappy hours is the rough production. The song is able to shine so much more here. Love it!
SAME! It's a selfish thing but I'D LOVE to hear 39/smooth re-recorded (with dooke/insomniac era production) and with Tre on drums. Kerplunk redone also would be awesome and this version of Christie Road shows it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with rough production as I'm fully aware both money for production plus the actual technology were limitations, but idk about you - my ears are super sensitive to sound quality. I can't even listen to Vinyl because the scratchy sound triggers something (neurologically).
@@samvakarian I mean, their first 2 albums were very amateurish in terms of the recording quality & mixing. They were young adults with no experience doing that. They basically self-produced them with Andy Ernst helping, but they were on an indie label. Hell, because they didn't have proper tuning equipment, Kerplunk has guitars that aren't properly tuned. Rob Cavallo is definitely the guy who was needed to teach them how to properly do everything & it paid off big time.
I cried the first time I heard this version, it was like a dream came true, too many years listening to the kerplunk version hoping one day listening at it with the dookie quality. It was like giving a present to my 16 yo self
I think that when they recorded the song for Kerplunk, it hadn't fully developed into the song they wanted it to sound like. Also, since they never dwell on old material for too long, this edition seemingly went by the wayside. So glad they finally released it in 2023.... took them long enough! Those Dookie sessions were solid gold.
I think it's the added "space" in the mix, but Mike's little bass lick at 3:25 is just insane now for the way the rest of the song comes crashing back in afterwards. Shame theres not more of these outakes. 409 sounds great too.
So this one was another song from Kerplunk planned to appear in Dookie like Welcome to Paradise. Not a bad re-recording after all. It would fit perfect in Dookie though.
These are so COOL! I'm glad these are finally being released. The released versions are fantastic but I love seeing where the released versions actually came from. There are so many songs from the albums over the years that I thought should've hit the top of charts but became obscure. Keep them coming!!
[Verse 1]Staring out of my window Watching the cars go rolling by My friends are gone, I've got nothing to do So I sit here patiently Watching the clock tick so slowly Gotta get away or my brains will explode [Chorus]Give me something to do to kill some time Take me to that place that I call home Take away the strains of being lonely Take me to the tracks at Christie Road [Verse 2]See the hills from afar Standing on my beat up car The sun went down and the night fills the sky Now I feel like me once again As the train comes a-rollin' in Smoked my boredom gone, slapped my brains up so high [Bridge]Mother, stay out of my way Of that place we go We'll always seem to find our way To Christie Road [Outro]If there's one thing that I need That makes me feel complete So I go to Christie Road It's home,
I just can’t get over how fucking good the drums sound man. Tré’s drumming has a hard time showcasing itself on Kerplunk because they sound so dull and quiet. His skill really shines here. It’s so good
The drums sound really light and thin on Kerplunk, but I love that sound, it fits with the guitar, bass and vocals so well.I must say I've never had a hard time hearing Tres amazing playing on that album!
@@knightdestiny4125 Kerplunk was Tré’s debut. However, if you listen to Kerplunk from the CD, or on streaming, you’ll likely see the last 4 songs are Sweet Children, Best Thing In Town, Strangeland, and My Generation. These songs originally were not on Kerplunk and were released on their EP called Sweet Children. That was Kiffmeyer. The actual album, which starts with 2000 Light Years Away and ends with Words I Might Have Ate, has Tré behind the kit. If you buy the vinyl, it actually comes with the Sweet Children EP on a separate 7” record with the proper people credited. Edit: I’d also like to add that Dominated Love Slave is a song that was written by Tré, features him on guitar and vocals, and is the only Green Day song to feature Billie Joe on the drums.
Una de mis canciones favoritas de la era de Kerplunk, la verdad si debió haber estado en Dookie como Welcome to Paradise, para mi esas dos canciones junto con 2000 light years away son las mejores
The drumming between this and 409 in your coffeemaker is honestly insane, idk why they never dropped these. Prime Tre was prime even though he never really fell out of his prime. Dudes still a beast
It's sick that we finally get to hear this BUT I wanna know who decided that the vocals on a 30 year old Dookie demo needed to be pitch corrected before release

It’s crazy things like this have existed for 30 years without being released or leaked… what else is hidden away on those hard drives boys… 👀
My EXACT thoughts! There’s some gold still hidden in them GD hills…

Agreed this song is one on Kerplunk! i kept coming back to it sounds fantastic shouldve been on Dookie
2:10 THIS SOUND SO MUCH BETTER! The crunchy tone is better than the ear-shattering treble of Kerplunk's version.
AGREED! I couldn’t put my finger on it, but that’s the best way to summarize it. This mix is so much better.
I pray that they re-recorded their entire Kerplunk album when they worked on Dookie.

why do you need better quality? Misfits sounds like they recorded their songs on a potato, but it doesn't matter. It's great
This is even better than the kerplunk version the tones and mix are insanely good
😊😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Fr!♥️
Once they discovered guitar layering during the Dookie sessions their sound changed immensely for the better
It's a little too slow here though
It's a bit slower, but still a good mix nonetheless
That's some eargasm soundmix mah dudes!
This demo sounds really awesome ❤
Finally get to hear it in HQ been living off the live version for years

Go on, stay a big fan!!!🥰😍😄♥️♥️♥️

THIS IS SO GOOD. I am so happy to see how this band had turned out after all these years!

DUUUUDE. This version is even better!!!
Kerplunk is still their most underrated album. Every song slaps.
Nice to hear these oldies in a new way. 😀
i like the polished up sound on this one but feels slower than the one on kurplunk. i put it on 1.25 speed and sounds really good!
Same. Wish they had like a 1.10 or 1.15 it would be even better I think. Basically I just want this recording with the original speed 😂
Wtf, it sounds absolutely terrible at 1.25. Anything higher than 1.1 is too high and faster than GD has ever played this song.
Ah yes, Christie Road, the original multi-part Green Day song
Always thought the same!
the original whatsername
That’s an interesting take and totally true. Never thought about it like that!

This honestly SLAPS
Still think Green Day could make an absolute killer of an album the reboots like this from their first 2 albums before Dookie.
[Verse 1]Staring out of my window
Watching the cars go rolling by
My friends are gone, I've got nothing to do
So I sit here patiently
Watching the clock tick so slowly
Gotta get away or my brains will explode
[Chorus]Give me something to do to kill some time
Take me to that place that I call home
Take away the strains of being lonely
Take me to the tracks at Christie Road
[Verse 2]See the hills from afar
Standing on my beat up car
The sun went down and the night fills the sky
Now I feel like me once again
As the train comes a-rollin' in
Smoked my boredom gone, slapped my brains up so high
[Bridge]Mother, stay out of my way
Of that place we go
We'll always seem to find our way To Christie Road
[Outro]If there's one thing that I need
That makes me feel complete
So I go to Christie Road
It's home,
One of my favorites ❤
I never knew I needed a Dookie’esque “Christie Road.” & now I do.
