This year's herring run is almost done. They came into the bay for laying eggs every year around Dec to Feb, depending on the tide, moon phase and weather. The last run in San Fransisco bay area was happening about 2 weeks ago around pier 50 - 52 in San Fransisco. Right now as @YC Chang commented, the run is happening in Crescent city and that is usually lasts for over a week. Go get them!!
@@skinnypenguin5857 Oh yeah! But we are in Stockton and it will take us more than 2 hours to drive this time. Have fun and enjoy! Save us some please :)
Hahahha u got me... Yea I don't enjoy shooting the video at night either but that's when the run happen! I should probably invest in some night videotaping gears...
The one in the vid is from 3 years ago and cant find the link now. for most of the location, u want at least a 4ft, and a 6ft is optional (depending on how tall u are and if you r skillful enough to handle a bigger net). You want it to be heavier than 1lb per ft, and with 3/8 inch mesh (1/4 works too but they r usually more expensive and not worth for herring), and some location you want longer string but you can always extend it with a piece of float line.
Hi Skinny, thanks for sharing...
Thanks for watching!
Sooooo many fish!Enough fish for the New Year!
You bet!
Lots of good tips. Now just waiting patiently for the next run. Thanks!
Thanks! Many says this is probably it for this year though. U haven't got enough yet? :P
@@skinnypenguin5857 No I haven't gotten any herring ever. Looking forward to my first herring catch.
when did you take this video? Didn’t hear herring report this week from TLA.
It was mentioned in the discussion down in the bottom. Someone had reported this run.
Sorry for the misleading. That was several weeks ago, early January.
Herrings at Candlestick state park right now!
I'm from Stockton and would like to try net fishing. Where is this at? Thanks for sharing.
San Francisco bay area. There is one happening right now in Crescent City way up north.

I gave it a like even if it was filmed in a cave! Anytime I learn something it is a good video.
Thanks for showing us how it is done!!
