Hi Andrew, Thanks for the nice comment! I do genuinely care about the fish. I have always been a fish lover. Actually never kept a fish until I fished the ocean. Did catch and release trout most the time and would hold them in the mouth like a bass and get my fingers all chewed up from there small teeth. Thanks for watching and yes hopefully people are learning from me how to handle the ones they want to release.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before but you should have more pressure on your rod when it is in the downrigger. More bendo, takes up more slack from the bow in your line created by the forward motion of the boat. Better hook sets, less slack in the line during the initial bite. Try it out.
Hi Kevin, Not sure why you have the idea the line isnt tight. I of course pull the line all the way down right before it would pop off the downrigger, its as tight as it can be. There is no extra slack in line trust me, I of course make the line very tight just before its going to pop. I dont have super flexable poles like the kayak guys maybe your watching. I didnt miss one bite, 5 for 5. Only problem is eric has never driven a boat salmon fishing and every hook up he throws it to neutral right away and I have to yell go faster. Thanks for watching!
@@ChrisPfish2 I'm guessing your rods have more graphite in the blanks, which would make them stiffer with a faster action. Some guys use fiberglass rods for downriggers, and those suckers can bend in a half circle. I've busted graphite rods trying to load them up on downriggers, so I switched a mix of fiberglass and composite rods. If what you're using works, that's all that really matters.
Hey whats up man! Your sub count is climbing, keep up the good work! Saltwater has not been friendly to the boat. I am about to get a new one that can handle the salt better. Only issues I have had are corroding at the battery terminals for my main batteries and my electric troller. After two years I had to cut the ends and put new ones on. Not a big deal. Other issue is all the locks/levers to open the compartments have turned color and key no longer fits in them to lock, but they still function (open/close). I always washed down the boat well after each salt trip. I have not noticed damage to the boat or motor from salt. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info! I was afraid saltwater would shorten the life of the boat first new boat I ever had! Enjoying your videos! Might go try the landlocked kings tomorrow morning for the next video!
Nice looking fish, wish I was out in the water myself! Gonna try and book a trip out soon. Need some pink in my life! Enjoying the videos, thanks. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great Job guys! Way to get it done! shopping for downriggers this week and hopefully going to be fishing out there at end of the month. Keep pumping out the great videos!
Great video, water look very calm. We were supposed go out Sunday, then that freak thunder storm kept us in the bay. We fished for Halibut in the bay caught only two keepers lots of shakers. Take care tight lines, you caught some nice salmon !!!🎣🎣
yeah I was going sunday as well in bodega. Woke up at 4am to a door slamming in the house from the wind and thunder storms. I think it was a good idea I stayed home. I heard weather was nasty on ocean for small boats. Thanks for watching!
Nice 💯🎣🔥, I been fishing the American river, feather river and Sacramento River and still no salmon. Flossing and flying c ever since the da season started. Last week went to the barge hole and seen only one pulled out . But love watching your videos and thanks for them updates
Nice job! I was there at Muir, too. No luck for me. Also, fished the bottom. Only saw two fish caught. Slow day for some and great for others. My first skunk in 3 yrs.
Thanks for the vid Chris, Myself, it's 101 up here in the hills and I just had the pellet stove repair guy here. I would be really upset but I broke it so I can't blame it on anyone! I would rather be fishing!!
Buddy Chris, love your videos, man. And by the way, congrats on the boat you got! Looks awesome! Again I hope that I run into you while fishing Sacramento river or in the Bay.
Happy you enjoy the videos, I appreciate you watching them. I am not sure my location of this weekend. I pick the day before, where weather and bite is best. Thanks, Chris
Hey just found your guys channel , and really enjoyed your video . Great camera job. And kudos to you guys on being class act fishermen and true sportsmen. Sharing straight up accurate good information , and helping others get on fish was very good sportsmanship on your part . Keep the videos coming .
thanks for the comment, happy you like the way I am doing things. I always turn the music down in the editing software and try and pick music to match the scene. I appreciate you watching, Chris
We had a span in late June and early July off the Central Oregon coast we were catching fatties from 20-35 lb's. We all thought these had to be Sacramento River fish and were right. Short and super stockey. They left and we're stuck with 13-20 lb fish now.
I’m new to fishing and recently bought an aluminum boat (Raider 185 Pro Fisherman). I’ve been looking at downriggers and am wondering if I should start off with manuals or just skip them and go straight to electric? Your opinion? If so, which brand do you like?
You can't quit consider that salmon as being "wild"! Only 1 out of 4 fish at the hatchery is marked with an adipose fin clip and coded wire tag. That leaves 3 others to appear like they are "wild".
Hi Michael. Not sure, i think saturday out the gate, someone invited me on there new 27' kingfisher. I could use a break from the small boat. Thanks for watching
ChrisPfish only 4 keepers, 2 shakers, biggest was 16lbs, got super slow and switched over to halibut limit 12 for 4 ppl. U did great with limits! Gd job
Hey bud How big is your boat? We got a 18ft deep v Lund Was thinking about trying the bay in the future on calm days launching outta Richmond I know it’s probably to small to go out the gate You think our boat can handle it? We’ve always been super hesitant about the salt we’re delta and lake fisherman ha
that is a good question. I guess it comes down to budget. My favorite poles are seeker and g-loomis. I like shimmano and dawai reels. Your best bet is to walk into a true fishing store that has experts and ask them. Thats how I buy my rod and reels. Tell them what I want to do and they give you some options. Thanks for watching!
Hey Chris just moved up north and new to fishing Bay Area. I usually fish halibut and seabass In so cal would love to buddy boat with you one day message me if you have time. Ps love your videos very entertaining.
Damn dude selling the boat!? Thought I recognized that thing on craigslist. Super fair price should sell quick. Are you gonna upgrade to something bigger?
yeah i got a 2007 north river 20' seahawk with offshore bracket that makes it 22' in length. 150hp. got a kicker motor now! only 140 hours! Video coming soon
ChrisPfish great choice, I fish out of the same boat with a 115 Yamaha. You’ll appreciate the extra power of the 150. Great choice man! Can’t wait to see the new rig and I’ll catch you on the river this season hopefully.
Okay my son Just got into Bass fishing with me I have been fishing for 15 plus years bass only So my son got into fishing with me for about 3 months now and he is so hooked I would love to take him salmon fishing dose anyone have suggestions on how to do it where I should go or does anyone on here charter people?
It came with my boat when I bought it used. Pretty sure its factory, never seen a name on it. Call the boat store in dixon. I am sure they can get you one. Thanks for watching!
Lower the angle of your rod holder and load rod up till it’s in bend similar to what you fight a fish to do this your release clip needs to be in it’s highest settling I’m surprised your not dropping more fish with that much slack in the line
It as tight as it can be. I load them up. My driver jumps to neutral when fish bites because he doesnt know what he is doing. I of course have my line all the tight. if I pick rod up and pull up it comes right off.
ChrisPfish , high low system. 1 1/2 once jighead with Berkeley powerbait jerkshad and a powerbait 2 inch white grub about 5-6 inches above it. This combo just sets them off, don’t know why but it works magic!
I appreciate your in-the-water release techniques. Too many UA-camrs beat up little fish. You're setting a good example!
Was just about to comment this.

Thanks for the vid Chris, Myself, it's 101 up here in the hills and I just had the pellet stove repair guy here. I would be really upset but I broke it so I can't blame it on anyone! I would rather be fishing!!

Nice Release, and I totally appreciate the pleasant music, so many youtubers put on ungodly music I just have to turn it off.
thanks for the comment, happy you like the way I am doing things. I always turn the music down in the editing software and try and pick music to match the scene. I appreciate you watching, Chris
I’m super stoked for you man! I lost my boat at the beginning of this season so I have not gotten to do any fishing
oh man that is rough. Hopefully you get it back soon. Thanks for watching!

Nice catch when do you usually start fishing inside the bay and up the sac River from sf Bay
Love your videos. Very informative. I’ve learned a lot.
What ramp did u launch out of?
Good job guys
Bro we fish the sac river too! This is epic
Are you on VHF channels when on the water? Love to chat and share reports so we chase em until we all score!
Nice job guys

Awesome video. Do y po u hook up the anchovies right out of the package or do you prep or brine them?
straight out of package. If the package has thawed from a previous trip and you refreeze they seem to fall apart easier. I would brine then
Finally a good youtube recommendation
aww, hey that is nice of you to say! I appreciate you clicking on the video! Glad you enjoyed it and there will be more to come!
Limited before noon. Awesome catches, guys. Enjoy every second of the video = )
Thanks I really appreciate it. Happy you enjoyed the video!
Good show! Going out the Gate, do you go thru Racoon Strait or around Angel Island?
It would depend where I launch. Did raccoon strait on this day. thanks for watching!
Great job Chrispy! Nice video. When ya going out next? I'll boat buddy it w/ ya
Hi Michael. Not sure, i think saturday out the gate, someone invited me on there new 27' kingfisher. I could use a break from the small boat. Thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 Nice. My pops went yesterday caught 4 cabazon, had to throw one back, one sculping and 2 giant butts out of HMB.
That was my boat, my buddy was yelling at u lol.

Do you just go home before 12pm? Potato patch is crazy water at times
That was only my 3rd time out the gate. Yeah I come in early and only go when swell is under 3ft. Thanks for watching!
You ever use blue foxes and if so what colors you recommend?
Good stuff brotha.
Thanks for watching!
What's the size of hook do you use on krippled anchovy? Nice video!
I like 4/0 gun metal color. I am going to try 3/0 on the smaller anchovies. Thanks for watching!
Does the tray bait work better than the live bait?
Would love to see a catch and cook one day!
I have done two in the last month. Thanks for watching!
