I just went to one of their concerts a couple weeks ago, and it is always a great time! I will throw out "BABYMETAL - Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997 Apocalypse" as a recommendation, one of my favorite songs by them and this video shows imo how fun it is to be in the crowd for these shows and how they interact with the crowds.
Totally agree. This is the standard goto video if you want to show someone Babymetal. There are other stuff though. Here is a small list (almost all is live in Japan, which is my favorite): * Babymetal Death, Legend 1997. * BxMxC (official MV) * Doki Doki Morning (official MV -. the one that started it all. It is so good and so cute) * GJ (Black Babymetal) * Headbanger * Megitsune (official MV) * Metali (official MV) * Pa pa ya * Sis Anger (Black Babymetal) * Tales of destinies (prog stuff!) * Yava (my absolute favorite)
Yep. The full title is "BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)" Recent versions are not bad either but this one is special. I'd like to see a reaction.
Welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 I will risk writing far too much, but you did have questions.😉 BABYMETAL formed in 2010, there were 3 original members (they were only 12 and 11 years old at that time) and we have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet. This performance was filmed at their Legend 1997 concert in December 2013 celebrating lead vocalist Su-metal's 16th birthday (you were absolutely right, they have dubbed the studio audio over the live performance - shame as they are so much better live). The other two girls were both 14. None of them are related, but they are as close as sisters. BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocalist), Moametal and Momometal (in charge of backing vocals, harmonies and mainly hyping and involving the crowd with their choreo). The original third member Yuimetal last performed in October 2017 and was absent for 12 months for undisclosed health reasons until she announced she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band. Su and Moa continued as a duo for 4-5 years supported by 3 dancers who would take turns in the third spot. From about March 2020 only one of those dancers remained and finally that dancer - now known as Momometal - was revealed as the new official third member (and finally got a microphone) on 1st April 2023. They are supported in all live shows by the Kami Band (long story, I'll try to keep it short - there are effectively two Kami Bands - East and West). East Kamis are the best Japanese session musicians you could hope to find and supported BABYMETAL since 2012 (they were phased in gradually over about 18 months playing a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows and became the full time support from March 2014) until their last appearance (to date) in January 2023. West Kamis are American musicians who first appeared in 2019 to play initially in the lengthier foreign tours and they have been ever present since April 2023. You did not see the Kami Band in this video. Early on BABYMETAL didn't have the funding for a live band (very early on they even had to borrow clothes to make their first stage outfits). Legend 1997 was the last show where the Kami Band played only the encores (they came on for the last 5 songs). The guys in skeleton suits known as Babybones were a fake band miming the instruments which were pre-recorded - the vocals would have been live. BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, as you thought, they brought a fusion of great metal instrumentals coupled with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics to create their very own sub-genre (Kawaii Metal - kawaii meaning cute or adorable) and they have continued to develop and evolve from those beginnings. They don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world. They are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music). BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on. BABYMETAL are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement. They have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different from the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal, often when you least expect it. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it. This was the video that went viral early in 2014 and got them a lot of attention before they started touring the world. They have gone on to become Japan's biggest musical export and one of the very best live performance acts on the planet. That energy - they never let up on that for every song in every concert, they never give less than 100% as they know people have paid a lot of money and travelled a long way (often from different countries) to see them and they appreciate their fans. 'Gimme Chocolate' is one of their fun songs. They just want chocolate but are a bit worried about their weight - but chocolate! It would be so nice, they would be so happy, they worked hard. Can they just have a piece of chocolate please?🍫🍫🍫 They do have deeper songs and you have great suggestions for more (you enjoyed this, you can't go wrong with any of them since this is arguably the most divisive of their songs). For another early song try 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (Bullying, No More, Forever) live at Sonisphere 2014 - their first time in the UK, their first major event and metal festival outside of Japan. Aged 16 and 15 and with over 50,000 UK metalheads who don't understand any Japanese to impress. IDZ was the last song of the 5 they played that day - you will hear what the crowd thought at the end.
Anecdote time! I'm 47, hadn't heard of them until late 2022 and got hooked. My wife and I saw them live in Houston and Dallas last year and the stage presence they have is absolutely unreal. Even in their mid 20s now, grown out of their child voices they've only improved the singing and refined the dancing tenfold. Relentless energy every single song! Truly an awesome phenomenon. Highly recommend trying to get to a show! They just finished their US tour this year but have toured the last two years more than they ever have so it's likely they will be back soon!
Haha hell yeah dude, welcome to the crazy world of Babymetal. When you deny your daughters chocolate, they get hangry. This song embodies that energy in full 😂. Babymetal was 14/16-years old in this Dec 2013 performance. I just saw them live a few weeks ago in DC, and this song is even better today! One of _THE_ best live bands around. Don’t let the cutsiness fool you either. These monster ladies are the first to successfully combine Pop and metal to create their own genre, and are now 14-year veterans. They kicked down the door to the west for modern J-Rock and J-Metal to flourish, and paved the way for bands like Lovebites and Band-Maid. Their music can be goofy & fun, or epic and heavy. Always wholesome and positive. *“Must see” suggestion:* _Road of Resistance (Official Live):_ You asked about the “Mosh’sh pit”? Here’s your answer. 🤘🦊
In 2019, BABYMETAL became the FIRST Asian artists to ever hit #1 on Billboard’s top rock albums chart. Also, BABYMETAL started in 2010, while Band-Maid started in 2013, Lovebites in 2016, and Nemophila in 2019. In other words, they've been at it for a long time! They have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Polyphia, Guns N' Roses, Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few. 🤘🦊🤘
If it wasn't for BABYMETAL, you most likely would have never even heard of the Japanese acts you listed, it was BABYMETAL that kicked down that door, opening Japan's music industry to audiences all over the world. Kitsune dao!
The girls where 14 and 16 years old in this performance and now the oldest is just about to turn 27 and have been in the group for over 14 years when they first started performing as Babymetal. As most musical acts there is a evolution to their sound and stage presence and over that time and they have become one of the most entertaining live acts touring today. If I had to pick their best song I couldn't, they have just so many great songs that all hit differently, any live performance especially from Japan are worth the watch.
Dad Jams...now Dad will really be jamming, lol! Seriously, Babymetal roared to life from an experiment...a fusion, as you said, of Pop and Metal combined. Oh man, did it work! I feel your score is going to go higher as you see more, especially actual live shows...best live act our there. Anyways, all the info you need has already been provided, I am sure...but I will say, that in my 62 years of listening to music (mainly metal) I have never been more content!
Welcome to Kawaii (cute) Metal!! I just saw Babymetal on Black Friday in Oklahoma City!! They Were Fantastic!! And Yes, they have gotten older and Better with time!! Japanese Rock and Metal has just blown up World Wide over the last 10 years and Babymetal is Japan's #1 International Group! More Babymetal Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!!
Their songs have so much variety to them. Each song is so different, but so good. Also, Babymetal is one of the most enjoyable live concerts I’ve ever been to.
Babymetal is known for putting on the best live shows and complete crowd control, so here are two of the best examples, Road of Resistance from 2015 (the Yui years) and Monochrome from 2023 (the Momo years), and if you don't know who Yui and Momo are, or who Su and Moa are, then you should watch the Extensive guide to Babymetal, links below, best hour you will spend watching these 3 videos, UA-cam links below: BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) - ua-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/v-deo.htmlsi=5rgvOMLZSWgB67J1 Babymetal - Monochrome (PIA Arena 2023 Live) Eng Subs (remember to turn on CC for this one) - ua-cam.com/video/xAZeBm0o7Jo/v-deo.htmlsi=ET-TR1asASz4ZpfH The 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘰 Extensive Guide to BABYMETAL (April 1st 2024) they really need to update it for the 2 great collabs Babymetal did this year with Electric Callboy and Bloodywood - ua-cam.com/video/aIb2xEthdSg/v-deo.htmlsi=734aRaDbdT4rPfNh
Welcome to "The One" my friend - that's the name of Baby Metal fans. You are about to get absolutely swamped by Baby Metal fans, get ready. This is Kawaii Metal, a genre mostly credited with being created by Baby Metal. And you're right, a combination of J-Pop and Metal. The Kami Band is one of the hardest and greatest backing bands out there. Wat more? Try Karate. The did two recent collaborations that are super hard and fun, one with Tom Morello from RATM and one with Bloodywood. Start there. This is a very deep hole you're about to fall into!
I'm old and accidentally found babymetal about 6 months ago. This song is good, but they have way more for you to listen to. My current favorite is From Dusk til Dawn.
There are 4 eras to Babymetal. The first era is when they were kids, stuff titled First album. Teenage years, Second album -Metal Resistance. Transition years ( they lost a member and went through some unfortunate changes in their lineup), third album - Metal Galaxy. Their adult/progressive (current) years, fourth album, concept album - The Other One. Plus countless collaborations with international artists like Bring Me The Horizon (UK), Electric Callboy (Ger.), F.Hero (Thai), Bloodywood (India), and others. Here is a list of MY favorites, one each from each era. First Album - Catch Me If You Can Second album Metal Resistance - YAVA! Third album Metal Galaxy - Shine Fourth album The Other One - Time Wave. Favorite collaboration : RATATATA with Electric Callboy.
The lead singers 16th birthday was the day before that performance. Listen to Headbanger(Legend of 1997)... or Moabanger and Momobanger when the other girls take over the Mercury mic from Su. Babymetal Death...(Opener) Road of Resistance(Closer) Megitsune... Doki Doki Morning (1st single) they were 14 and 12 at the time.
Sugoi! Love BABYMETAL!! Saw them 4 times in 5 days last month. They're not to be missed LIVE. #TheOne are among the greatest fan bases in the world. More please! Arigatou! 🦊🤘
Welcome to the Fox hole! You are as shocked as I was the first time I listen to this song almost two years ago! I recommend you react to Headbangerrrr Legend 1997 as your second Babymetal video! If you want to see their progress throughout the years, start with the videos from 5 to 10 years ago until you get to the present, that’s one of the ways to appreciate the power on these three girls since they were just 14 years old as they were in this video!
Thanks for this reaction, subbed for more. The MV is currently at 199 900 000+ it will go to 200 million this year, it could even only be days. So I think you say 200 million 🙂 The biggest blib in US news cycle was in April 2016 when they went on the Stephen Colbert show. But Babymetal was already touring 'world wide' (North America and Europe after they've visited some countries in Asia) in 2014. Actually, they did have a blib before that in 2014 in the music news outlets, as they were performing at rock and metal festivals and making a huge impression. Yes, Babymetal is the first and biggest in their genre, by a long shot. Actually, it can be argued Babymetal is one of the biggest musical exports from Japan. The genre is kawaii metal, kawaii is Japanese cute/adorable culture, that also applies to adults. While it is Japanese pop and metal a lot of songs are more hard hitting, this is still very poppy, Afterall they were just kids.
The audience participation that Babymetal gets is unparalleled. How many bands do you know that can get the entire audience to kneel and worship them? Check out Babymetal Death live and you will see it happen. Also K-Pop is Korean Pop and J-Pop is Japanese Pop. The same deal goes for K-Rock andJ-Rock. I think Babymetal is considered Kawaii Metal.(Cute Metal)
Welcome to Babymetal. You're right when Babymetal releases an "official" video it's generally the studio audio over the live peformance. The girls in this were 14,15 and 14 and with one personnel change they are still going strong today finishing up their seventh world tour. Babymetal perform their own sub-genre of metal called Kawaii or cute metal. Although now in their 20's they are still adorably cute their music has matured with them. It is common among Babymetal fans to say our favorite song is the one that is playing. But for me my current favorite is "Arkadia, Legend MM Live 2024". It is a huge concert with production values unparalleled and it is a joyous, heavy as it gets performance(I'll include the link at the end). Babymetal are Japan's most successful musical export and they really paved the way for all the other skilled female bands currently making a hit in the West. The Babymetal experience is like no other and you've got my sub and I'd love to see you dive into the foxhole-you'll learn. 🤘🦊🦊🦊🤘 Arkadia: ua-cam.com/video/as315wXm_u4/v-deo.html
@@martinmetal7481 Damn, I knew that her birthday was the day before the concert. I think I was just typing too fast for my own good. Thanks for catching that..
Exactly this was one of the problems of Band Maid, they lived many years from small locations, while Babymetal had in the Background Amuse and switched locations and then switched to the World. Thisvis in fact a huge part of Babymetal, while for most Bands Japan is 99% of the business, while Babymetal became famous in the world. This was the real reason why the Media was so interested in them and this is the reason why they are in general 10 times bigger than any of their competitors.
Welcome to the world of Babymetal. Mosh'sh is an abbreviation of "moshushu"; a friendly sort of mosh pit. We would call them circle pits. Babymetal is massive, one of the premier up and coming headliners internationally. You should check out more. Metali is a good song to do next, a collaboration they did with Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, Or RATATATA, a collaboration with Electric Callboy they got them Grammy consideration,
Gimme Choco is quintessentially kawaii metal v1.0 (2010-2016), when BM was in still their teens & singing metalized slice-of-life songs (in this case about having a sweet tooth, while Doki Doki Morning recaps waking up innocently to promises of new joys, Onedari Daikakusen is sweettalking one's dad into buying new presents, etc.) & also touching on real-life meaningful issues (Ijime Dame Zettai deals with bullying, Headbanger is celebrating one's life milestone) & youthful idealism (Akatsuki is about romantic love & sacrifice; Karate is about tenacity; Road Of Resistance is forging one's own path; Megitsume actually deals with inscrutability but fans have turned it into empowerment). BM's first two albums are choke-full of such brilliant material, every song utterly charming. Kawaii metal v2.0 (2017-present & comprising their next two albums), so to speak, would be stylistically different. BM, nearing their twenties in age, was already starting to retire their earliest songs (first debuted live in their early teens). By 2017, they had also spent 3 years on the road, befriended Western musicians on the tour circuit, endured much vitriol from metal gatekeepers, & experienced first-hand worldwide cultural influences. Entering 2018, there was a pair of distressing personal setbacks (Yuimetal, waylaid by an undisclosed illness, never performed with BM again; beloved tour guitarist Mikio Fujioka died in a tragic accident), which resulted in a troubling year that featured abrupt avant garde concepts (very little kawaii) & bewildering lineup changes (Musclemetals, Chosen Seven, Avengers). At the same time, they were willfully revamping their live setlist, previewing songs from their forthcoming third album which itself was wildly exploratory (incorporating EDM, jazz, Latin, Indian, Thai, Scandinavian, J-rock, American prog) & testing those receptive to BM's eclectic approach. To put it mildly, BM's career momentum was stalled & they had to convert a new fanbase. That's why Monochrome (the breakout hit from their fourth album) especially resonates: its First Take piano version is seen as a paean to their younger selves for weathering the hardships, & the PIA Arena live version (since replicated at all subsequent concerts) seen as a celebration with diehard fans who have accompanied BM on their long journey. Have fun diving into the Fox Hole. Every BM song , even every major live performance, has a well-archived story & background behind it which fans are eager to expound & share. EDIT: I should add that, while the kawaii metal label still has some contextual relevancy today, the subgenre itself has more or less fizzled out after 2016. BM is basically its remaining practitioner these days, with only its sister group Metalverse briefly trialing the same blueprint live in 2023-4 (but has yet to officially launch). Otherwise, all the fledging bands (a few were intriguing, but the majority vacuous) who once hitched onto the kawaii metal bandwagon had folded long ago. It was hard for anyone to keep up with BM's insatiable hunger for genre-bending, literally song to song. For example, despite Ratatata (electronicore) being a huge summer hit, BM hasn't stayed put artistically, following it up with finally debuting Brand New Day (American prog) live, & subsequently Eternal Flames (80s J-rock), Bekhauf (Indian nu metal), plus a Poppy teaser (possibly industrial) & a rumored collaboration with Slaughter To Prevail (Russian deathcore) during the last half year alone. Nowadays, BM's creativity & versatility has seen the public re-positioning them as, not so much leading a specific subgenre, but as the gateway to the 'loud' ラウド (metal/rock) scene in Japan, specially girlbands like Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie, Bridear, et al. You can loosely include Hatsune Miku (vocaloid) whose synth sounds & crowd participation had hugely influenced BM's; plus Atarashii Gakkou (Jpop) who is as keen in genre-bending & whose overseas fans love BM as well.
Monochrome for me (just) - 3 versions - all stunning and meaningful (one of their darker songs imo) lyric video, "First Take" with piano and violin, and live (pia arena usually). Headbanger 97 is also great (or if you like EDM even "night of 15" (a headbanger remake) from the same concert).
Well, since Su (the lead singer) birthday is coming up Dec 20, you should go back in time and checkout her 16th Bday concert and a song called Death.... Just search Babymetal Death Legend 1997.... and read the description, which would give you an idea of what's going on in the performance.... 😁😁🤘🦊🤘
Subscribed. 👍 BABYMETAL is timeless. Joy/Happiness never goes out of style. I saw this performed live recently and it rock so hard. Welcome to the foxhole. No 2 BABYMETAL songs are the same. 🦊 🖖 ❤ Babymetal - Metal Kingdom (PIA Arena 2023 Live) Eng Subs MAYA【Live Blu-ray/DVD「BABYMETAL BEGINS - THE OTHER ONE -」"BLACK NIGHT"】
Oh yeah! 😆 Baby Metal is just fun lol. Only 30 seconds in and you've got the right idea! It IS like pop metal! Technically speaking this is Kawaii Metal, Kawaii being the Japanese word for "cute". They have a lot of good music. 🙂EDIT: Also a great way to get people who don't like metal, into metal. 😂
What's our favorite Babymetal song? Let me put it this way... By now Babymetal had released nearly 60 wongs and at least 30 of these could be any commenter's (here) favorite song of theirs 😃 Babymetal's discography is as varied, eclectic and insanely addictive as they get.
Hahaha, fun reaction! 🤣 You discovered one of the, if not THE, best live act on this planet right now. Sometimes I call them "world´s biggest band barely anybody knows of". After 14 years on the road, touring like mad, there are still a lot of people who don´t know about BABYMETAL. You already got the idea what Kawaii Metal, the Metal genre invented by BABYMETAL, is. J-Pop with (very) heavy Metal. Shouldn´t work at all. But it works, and it works so well 🤣 Grington300, our lore master, already told you a lot about them, but that was just a glimpse on what BABYMETAL is all about. They have such a rich history, tons of lore, funny stories here and there, and a sh*tload of live concerts worth to watch. This performance is from the "Legend 1997 Apocalypse Su-Metal Seitansai" concert, Su-Metal´s (the main singer) sweet 16 party. The whole concert is a banger, but the ending is simply mind blowing😉But before watching that ending, I would recommend a song they played with the encore to this concert, - BabyMetal Legend of 1997 Headbanger from "abr metal" channel. Or - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) I discovered them in 2016, watching exactly this performance of "Headbangeeeeerrrrrr!!!!!!", and after 1.5 minutes I jumped into the Foxhole, head first. I saw them live last year in Cologne, Germany. Absolutely awesome! So much fun 😄🤘🦊
Babymetal are legends and still going strong. Do Metali official live(not the music video) video for a newer song. Welcome to the Fox hole of kawaii metal greatness =)
My favorite song is Yava! It is a song from their 2nd album and not performed very often lately. However, they did perform it last year at the Legend-MM concert and a video of it was put on their youtube channel a few months ago.
My favourite is Headbanger live at Legend 1997, the same concert as this one. But this time with live vocals. It is a masterpiece of songwriting, performance, crowd control, musicianship and atmospherics. Babymetal has an amazingly huge catelogue of incredible songs and performances. They are at their best live, live Babymetal is the best Babymetal 😎. You could try BMC at Budokan 2021, Ijime Dame Zettai at Sonisphere 2014, Road of Resistance official video 2015 or Monochrome live at PIA Arena 2023. All these will blow your head off, and thats just the tipnof the iceberg. I look forward to morenof your reactions.
In 2015, I did a search for metal bands fronted by females. Way down in the results was this song. At the time it had just broke 90,000 views. Been a fan since! Three must see videos are: Syncopation Arkadia PA PA ya
Babymetal, the creators of the metal sub-genre called "Kawaii Metal"or Cute Metal. Go down that foxhole, you won't regret it. Their first ever music video is Doki Doki Morning where they look like literal babies 😂
The genre is kawaii metal, a fusion of J-pop and metal, the term means cute metal. BABYMETAL coined the term and has ruled the genre with an iron fist. Their backing band, the Kami Band, is made up of the best hired guns their label can get.
Awesome reaction!!🤘🦊 i would reccomend BABYMETAL | Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro) LIVE at Budokan Black Night It is a great song to start with and is my favortie song !!
Welcome to FOXHOLE Estás al borde del abismo y no hay escapatoria You are in the presence of the best live band on the planet The only thing you can expect from Babymetal is the unexpected When you ask what is the best Babymetal song... The answer will be the one I'm hearing right now
Babymetal is really an idol group. They were created by the female idol factory Sakura Gaukin. They are really the three girls, Su, Moa and Yui. Su, the singer. Moa and Yui dance and shout, as they say it. The started being 13 (S9 and 11 (Moa and Yui). And the first video was Doki Doki Morning. Doki meaning fantastic and Doki Doki meaning super fantastic. Its a good vide ond it is a good song and yeah, it went viral. It is still worth listening to today, and the girls are so cute. Today, Babymetal is more of an institution than an idol group. They are grown up now. One of the girls have been replace. Yui left 2018 and Momoka became a permanent member of the group 2023. In between 2018 and 2023, they both tried with two members and also to have a third temporary member that varied. Note, that there is a team behind the girls. They do not write songs and choreography, except that Yui and Moa have been involved in some. Lastly I can tell you that there is a sub group, called Black Babymetal, that consists of Moa and Yui, it has more impish songs as they are kind of impish. I would say that Babymetal has three eras. * The young and very productive era 2010-2017. Most of my favorite songs and videos are from this era. * The searching era with several experiments and some few bangers 2018-2022. * The grown up era (2023-now) that mostly contains old stuff plus collaborations. Not really anything new for only Babymetal. One info - Momoka can growl, like seriously. She do it sometimes. It adds a new dynamic for possibilities regarding metal stuff.
These Ladies are the Beatles of Japanese Metal. For many, myself included, they were the first introduction to what was happening in the East. Very influential, very well known… Very cool. Try a live video of Believing for what they do now. 🤘🔥🦊🔥🤘
Every song on BabyMetal is different. So you may have to listen to 5 or 6 songs before you can get a general understanding of BabyMetal. Looking forward to your next reaction. Thanks for your great reaction.
If you liked this and you liked Bloodywood, you NEED To see the collab between the two: "Bekhauf" ("Fearless" in Hindi). It'll destroy you in the best way possible.
Sir this is Kawaii Metal. Kawaii=Cute. This is a genre this band actually created themselves in 2010 when the girls were between the ages of 10-12 (yeah you read that right). If you want to see them now and how far they'd come (the cute is dialed way back now that they're older) try Believing or Mirror Mirror (live versions of course). Those songs go hard!
You just witnessed the birth of a metal sub-genre, the Kawaimetal (lit. trans: Cute Metal), not many groups can claim to have done such in their careers 😅 The Foxhole is deep and full of joy if you choose to join The One.
They indeed put on a show and sound great live, saw them just under a month ago where I drove 4 hours just to see them. I see Grington has already given you some reading material as he typically does so I won't tell add more it as far as the band itself goes. You said we should comment our favorite Babymetal songs for you to react to next, you don't really have a favorite Babymetal songs as there are just too many good ones that it usually is the one you're listening to at the moment it's playing. Next though I typically would start off saying either Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997 (abr metal has a good version titled Headbanger Legend of 1997) or Road of Resistance Live in Japan. Their most recognized and most played song though is Megitsune. For a more recent performance I would suggest Monochrome Live @ PIA Arena. They have also been pretty busy this year with collaborations. Just over a week ago they released a collaboration with Bloodywood and back in May they released a 50/50 collaboration with Electric Callboy, which is what got me to finally listen to them and haven't looked back since. Speaking of Electric Callboy as I see you haven't reacted to any of their stuff yet, I would highly suggest you check them out, they are another fantastic live band but their official videos are just simply pure fun and will be guaranteed to make you smile and laugh. For them I would suggest starting with either Hypa Hypa or We Got the Moves.
You were right on point! To simplify it, they are a Japanese idol (j-pop) group with a backing metal band of GOD tier session musicians . They became a fenomenon and created their own genre . Some refer to them as kawaí (cute in Japanese) metal . They are not my cup of tea but I like their collaborations with other artists . Like Kingslayer with Bring me the Horizon , Ratatata with Electric Callboy (another rabbit hole if you have no clue who they are 😂 )
When Metallica saw them live they said they were astonished by their awesomeness. Gimme Chocolate was named my numerous publications as on of the most important metal songs of the last 20 years
Welcome to the Foxhole. i see you have already a few of The One have already popped by with a little information🤣 favourites songs 🤔 all of them, although some i like a little bit more than others . Megitsune at PIA Arena 2023 or Metali at Legend MM 2024 2 totally different songs or go back to RoadofResistance 2015 live 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
lol This is Babymetal welcome to the foxhole these girls are going to rock your world and blow your mind 🦊 Asking for the favourite song is a tricky one as they have so many great songs and even better live performances of those songs, from the past i would say do Headbanger Legend 97 live(this concert is incredible and is the footage you watched and worth watching the entire show) and Rondo of Nightmare live 2014 Budokan Black night to see the Kami band blow the roof off and a fearless 16 year old Su-Metal follow them. That is my two but could list songs and live performances all night lol
To really see their origins, you need to watch "Doki Doki⭐Morning" Live at the 2011 Tokyo Idol Festival. ua-cam.com/video/V0dOATO3CaM/v-deo.htmlsi=aTOfcs7cikQxyYor
Since no one else has answered this yet: Mosh in Japanese is simply モッシュ (Moshu - written here as Moshyu) It is a loan word, basically taking the word and adapting it to Japanese use. It is transliterated to Katakana, as I illustrated above. Whoever added the text to this video might have done one of two things: Attempted to transliterate the word back to Romaji (Roman letters) rather than go back to the original word and screwed it up. Or this more interesting theory: because Mosh pits at BM shows are more tame than their traditional counterparts, they may be calling them Mosh-ish pits.. Effectively Mosh-like in nature. This latter interpretation is backed by the fact that Japanese-born AGT winner Kenichi Ebina referred to his style as being Dance-ish rather than Dance, which serves as precedent.
Good reaction. Their genre is Kawaii (cute) Metal, which you got, is the fusion of pop and metal. This song is hit or miss with people for their first time, so if you enjoyed that you should pretty much have a good time with them. You'll get plenty of suggestions so I'll just leave two, one old and one new, enjoy. Babymetal has been around since 2010 they were the first of the modern era of Japanese bands to start coming to America and the Western world if it wasn't for a Babymetal you probably wouldn't know such bands as Bandmaid Hanabie Nemophila and others Babymetal having touring outside of Japan for years but in the past few years more bands from Japan have followed and have gained more popularity from the western world
thanks for the reaction...new genre? Yes...Babymetal is the only one that carries this genre, namely "Kawai Metal" or "Cute Metal"...but in my opinion Baby Metal never puts the metal genre in a box...because in all Baby Metal music it always includes many genres... such as Heavy Metal, Speed Metal, ballad, Techno, Rap, Ska, Death Metal, Reggae, Nu Metal, Folk Metal and many more...but welcome to the fox hole with Baby Metal and have a good adventure...🦊🦊🦊
Headbanger, Monochrome, Roadvof Resistance, Karate, Doki doki Morning. To name just a few. Thevsimplevtruthbwas simply, when they startedvany mention of the idol business would have doomed the whole project, while later no one really cared.
I highly highly highly encourage you to watch the KEXP version of “Empire” by Frankie and the Witch Fingers. That song has no right to go that hard. As a fellow old dad, that one gets my motor CRANKED!
Many members of The One will say that this song isn't among BABYMETAL's best - I beg to differ. Although BABYMETAL does have many songs that are better, this song defines what BABYMETAL is: heavy metal pleasantly mixed with J-pop without missing a beat - kawaii metal at its best, and one of the best videos of the "Yui Era" (more on that later). To answer your question about the "Mosh'sh pit": it's short for "Moshushu", which means a safe, yet enjoyable, mosh. They want the audience to do mosh with gentleness and joy in mind. Anyway . . . . The “I was not expecting this” and “WTF did I just watch” are the typical reactions among first-time BABYMETAL viewers. A lot of their songs tend to get that - even after you watch a few of them! But, you’ve opened a can of worms! BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around since 2010, and started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the group in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer. BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums with over fifty songs, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. I try to urge people new to BABYMETAL to start from BABYMETAL's beginning and see how they have progressed to now - see where they’ve been before getting caught up in where they are - and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" ( ua-cam.com/video/cirhQ8iLdbw/v-deo.htmlsi=k84SUx4P01t9M5ic ) and "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay") ( ua-cam.com/video/qVdBBOpSoN4/v-deo.htmlsi=rNZ3yF8RGVdzBZmS ), both released in 2012. I'm sure you will find both very entertaining, and it is my opinion that, until you’ve seen their earlier work, you haven't really experienced BABYMETAL. You’ll notice those are the first two on this list of recommended songs (with links to suggested versions). The first sixteen are from what I've come to call "The Golden Age of BABYMETAL" (better known as "The Yui Era"). This list also includes all four songs of the BABYMETAL sub-group Black BABYMETAL (just Yui and Moa while Su is taking a break): Doki Doki Morning (official music video) ua-cam.com/video/cirhQ8iLdbw/v-deo.htmlsi=k84SUx4P01t9M5ic Iine! Unfortunately too many first time reactors go to this because of the viral nature of the video. This is who they are are today (below) AND the audio below is LIVE audio (not studio and believe it or not they are better LIVE) Megitsune LIVE at PIA ARENA 2023 HQ Pro Shot from the For The Fox God channe
Their a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. They are a dance act with not to complicated metal music and put up very entertaining shows. They can't be compared to bands like lovebites wich are way better musicians and play their own instruments and compose their own music. My daughters like babymetal more then lovebites though😅
Congratulations on finding Babymetal. Now do yourself a favour and dive into the foxhole. They have literally dozens of songs that are better than Gimme Chocolate. And just about everyone one of them is unique.
The song whith which they became famous, and I even have the suspision that they in fact manipulated the Video a bit. They had for some Songs the Kami Band in this concert, but was it in this song? But this Video was an important part of their International ID. At that time the complete metal industry in Europe was show Business. Big companies were behind it, but since big companies were offivially not wanted in this industry they often chose one of their smaller arms as a repräsentative. It was totally normal in the show Business. Babymetal declared it as Kawai Metal, but in fact atvthat time the show started already in the advertisment. In the beginning it was an extreme Mixtur of Pop and metal, since the girls were shocked anyway, but they moved pretty fast to metal fusion a Genre that became pretty fast a normal Genre in the european metal scene. In reality the whole european metal scene was from the beginning sponsored by huge companies but since companies were officially unwanted they acted in the Name of smaller Distributors. This was zhe simple reason why the European Metal scene had no problem to grow. The Big companies were already in the Business.
If you are really going down this huge rabbit hole with japanese female bands. You haven't seen nothing yet. Hanabie is a newer band and is currently taking over the world. Touring all time after they exploded on UA-cam a little over a year ago. Nemophila is also a very good band. Have some really good songs. If you liked lovebites i can also recommend hagane. A fairly new band in maybe the same style❤ hanabie is my favorite band at the moment. Listen to them every day. Huge recommendation
Really not their more metal song, this one is really wrote to be a fun song of girls asking for chocolate. They grew up since ten years, so you could also check more recent live video (yes please, always choose live version first with BM), like 'mirror mirror' or 'divine attack'. You also can't miss their classics like 'headbanger' or 'road of resistance'. Hope you'll have as much fun as us with babymetal. 🤘🤘
Mosh'sh pit is a "safe" circle pit. Babymetal fans (The One) basicly stop running if someone falls down so they don't get run over.
Here is a small list (almost all is live in Japan, which is my favorite):
* Babymetal Death, Legend 1997.
* BxMxC (official MV)
* Doki Doki Morning (official MV -. the one that started it all. It is so good and so cute)
* GJ (Black Babymetal)
* Headbanger
* Megitsune (official MV)
* Metali (official MV)
* Pa pa ya
* Sis Anger (Black Babymetal)
* Tales of destinies (prog stuff!)
* Yava (my absolute favorite)
Best old live performance is "Road of Resistance, live in japan"
Yep. The full title is "BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)"
Recent versions are not bad either but this one is special. I'd like to see a reaction.
Welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 I will risk writing far too much, but you did have questions.😉
BABYMETAL formed in 2010, there were 3 original members (they were only 12 and 11 years old at that time) and we have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet.
Can they just have a piece of chocolate please?🍫🍫🍫
They do have deeper songs and you have great suggestions for more (you enjoyed this, you can't go wrong with any of them since this is arguably the most divisive of their songs).
A very interesting read. Glad "the man"😉 didn't ghost you. 🦊 🖖❤
@@IAMisLove Thanks - and so am I!😁
Anecdote time!
Found them in 2020. Easily the most interesting music/live act I've found in years.
More of these awesome ladies, please
*“Must see” suggestion:*
_Road of Resistance (Official Live):_ You asked about the “Mosh’sh pit”?
They sold out 110,000 tickets over two days at the Tokyo Dome. More BABYMETAL!🤘🦊
Oh and how big are they?
Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls. LIVE AUDIO.
Their songs have so much variety to them. Each song is so different, but so good. Also, Babymetal is one of the most enjoyable live concerts I’ve ever been to.
Babymetal is known for putting on the best live shows and complete crowd control, so here are two of the best examples, Road of Resistance from 2015 (the Yui years) and Monochrome from 2023 (the Momo years), and if you don't know who Yui and Momo are, or who Su and Moa are, then you should watch the Extensive guide to Babymetal, links below, best hour you will spend watching these 3 videos, UA-cam links below:

First Album - Catch Me If You Can
Second album Metal Resistance - YAVA!
Third album Metal Galaxy - Shine
Fourth album The Other One - Time Wave.
Favorite collaboration :
RATATATA with Electric Callboy.
As they had a not-unfortunate line up change last year, I think we can say they've entered a 5th era.
From Dusk Till Dawn LIve at Budokan 2021
The answer is yes, yes to everything Babymetal
The lead singers 16th birthday was the day before that performance.
Listen to Headbanger(Legend of 1997)... or Moabanger and Momobanger when the other girls take over the Mercury mic from Su.
Babymetal Death...(Opener)
Road of Resistance(Closer)
Megitsune...
So I think you say 200 million 🙂
The biggest blib in US news cycle was in April 2016 when they went on the Stephen Colbert show.
While it is Japanese pop and metal a lot of songs are more hard hitting, this is still very poppy, Afterall they were just kids.
he magic of BABYMETAL is smiles and fun!
Welcome to the world of HAPPY METAL!😁
🤘🦊🦊🦊🤘 Arkadia: ua-cam.com/video/as315wXm_u4/v-deo.html
it was Su's 16th Birthday 😁🤘🏼🦊
Metali is a good song to do next, a collaboration they did with Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, Or RATATATA, a collaboration with Electric Callboy they got them Grammy consideration,
They're a genre unto themselves. As they've grown up they've branched out a bit. Maybe "Monochrome" would be a good example.
Not to mention their multiple cameo appearances in the Finnish metal road-trip movie "Heavier Trip".
I enjoy the facial expressions of people seeing this for the first time so much. :-D And it gets better from here!
This is not Rock, not Metal. This is Babymetal.

MAYA【Live Blu-ray/DVD「BABYMETAL BEGINS - THE OTHER ONE -」"BLACK NIGHT"】
Well... actually Jpop music with choreography in a song was began decades before Kpop starting popular.😌
Yes, it's a whole new genre
They are the best
By now Babymetal had released nearly 60 wongs and at least 30 of these could be any commenter's (here) favorite song of theirs 😃
Babymetal's discography is as varied, eclectic and insanely addictive as they get.
Mosh'sh is a direct translation of the word MOSH from the Japanese pronunciation of the word in Hiragana. モッシュ is pronounced mosshu.
more BABYMETAL!
The whole concert is a banger, but the ending is simply mind blowing😉But before watching that ending, I would recommend a song they played with the encore to this concert,
- BabyMetal Legend of 1997 Headbanger
from "abr metal" channel. Or
- Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)
I discovered them in 2016, watching exactly this performance of "Headbangeeeeerrrrrr!!!!!!", and after 1.5 minutes I jumped into the Foxhole, head first. I saw them live last year in Cologne, Germany. Absolutely awesome! So much fun 😄🤘🦊
Mosh'sh is a mosh done gently :D (That's their word to keep mosh safe)
Three must see videos are:
Syncopation
Arkadia
PA PA ya
My personal favorite would be Syncopation, there’s a great live video uploaded recently on their channel
Babymetal, the creators of the metal sub-genre called "Kawaii Metal"or Cute Metal.
Go down that foxhole, you won't regret it. Their first ever music video is Doki Doki Morning where they look like literal babies 😂
Great reaction friend
🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥
The genre is kawaii metal, a fusion of J-pop and metal, the term means cute metal. BABYMETAL coined the term and has ruled the genre with an iron fist. Their backing band, the Kami Band, is made up of the best hired guns their label can get.
You HAVE to do every other BM song xD Really, every one is much different, mixing styles and genres
More babymetal!😊
Awesome reaction!!🤘🦊
i would reccomend BABYMETAL | Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro) LIVE at Budokan Black Night It is a great song to start with and is my favortie song !!
Welcome to FOXHOLE
Estás al borde del abismo y no hay escapatoria
You are in the presence of the best live band on the planet
The only thing you can expect from Babymetal is the unexpected
When you ask what is the best Babymetal song... The answer will be
the one I'm hearing right now
The best Babymetal song is maybe Megitsune. My favorite is Catch Me If You Can. It's both heavier and cuter than Gimme Choko.
Very influential, very well known…
Very cool.
Try a live video of Believing for what they do now.
🤘🔥🦊🔥🤘
Monochrome…live from PIA Arena.
Babymetal - Ljime Dame Zettai
Every song on BabyMetal is different. So you may have to listen to 5 or 6 songs before you can get a general understanding of BabyMetal. Looking forward to your next reaction. Thanks for your great reaction.
If you liked this and you liked Bloodywood, you NEED To see the collab between the two: "Bekhauf" ("Fearless" in Hindi). It'll destroy you in the best way possible.
The song is about them loving chocolate, but they cannot eat too much, because they get overweight.
You just witnessed the birth of a metal sub-genre, the Kawaimetal (lit. trans: Cute Metal), not many groups can claim to have done such in their careers 😅
The Foxhole is deep and full of joy if you choose to join The One.
Nice reaction! React now to the song Megitsune from the video recently released on BABYMETAL's official channel, from the show/film Legend 43.
Gimme Chocolate was named my numerous publications as on of the most important metal songs of the last 20 years
Road of resistance live Japan
Welcome to the Foxhole. i see you have already a few of The One have already popped by with a little information🤣
favourites songs 🤔 all of them, although some i like a little bit more than others .
Megitsune at PIA Arena 2023 or Metali at Legend MM 2024
2 totally different songs or go back to RoadofResistance 2015 live 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
lol This is Babymetal welcome to the foxhole these girls are going to rock your world and blow your mind 🦊
Asking for the favourite song is a tricky one as they have so many great songs and even better live performances of those songs, from the past i would say do Headbanger Legend 97 live(this concert is incredible and is the footage you watched and worth watching the entire show) and Rondo of Nightmare live 2014 Budokan Black night to see the Kami band blow the roof off and a fearless 16 year old Su-Metal follow them.
That is my two but could list songs and live performances all night lol
Best? Road of Residence Live in Japan. Their epic masterpiece.
To really see their origins, you need to watch "Doki Doki⭐Morning" Live at the 2011 Tokyo Idol Festival. ua-cam.com/video/V0dOATO3CaM/v-deo.htmlsi=aTOfcs7cikQxyYor
Must watch "road of resistance" live in Tokyo. You'll love it
Since no one else has answered this yet: Mosh in Japanese is simply モッシュ (Moshu - written here as Moshyu)
It is a loan word, basically taking the word and adapting it to Japanese use.
Just the tip of a very large iceberg!

Babymetal - Maya (Legend MM 2024 Live)

Also recommend these other Japanese bands/vids:
Hanabie - anything from their channel, it's all good.
MAXIMUM THE HORMONE - SHIMI feat. ATARASHII GAKKO!
🤘🦊🤘
Take a look at Aldious - Reincarnation live
👊🏽⚡️🦊🤘🏾
Headbanger, Monochrome, Roadvof Resistance, Karate, Doki doki Morning. To name just a few.
Thevsimplevtruthbwas simply, when they startedvany mention of the idol business would have doomed the whole project, while later no one really cared.
I highly highly highly encourage you to watch the KEXP version of “Empire” by Frankie and the Witch Fingers. That song has no right to go that hard. As a fellow old dad, that one gets my motor CRANKED!
It's Kawaii Metal
Great reaction! If you want more Japanese metal, I highly highly recommend Hanabie!
yeees u need to react to "BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)"
This list also includes all four songs of the BABYMETAL sub-group Black BABYMETAL (just Yui and Moa while Su is taking a break):

If nothing else, it can be used as a reference to find high quality versions of BABYMETAL songs without mucking about - if they are on the list. Anyway . . . .
Another recommendation (read "challenge"): react to an entire BABYMETAL concert. I suggest:
"Legend 1997 Apocalypse" ua-cam.com/play/PLdBAj9hZ91wCao72oSqTMLrGpIDOqzR2Q.html
and/or
"Budokan Black Night" (2014) ua-cam.com/play/PLdBAj9hZ91wBwsBfjsKH9zWxA5YOOUkSI.html
Both concerts are, in a word, incredible.
Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!)
Keep rockin' BABYMETAL!!! (Sorry about the wall!)
KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘
I believe this genre of music is called Kuai metal but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Unfortunately too many first time reactors go to this because of the viral nature of the video.
This is who they are are today (below) AND the audio below is LIVE audio (not studio and believe it or not they are better LIVE)
Megitsune LIVE at PIA ARENA 2023 HQ Pro Shot from the For The Fox God channe
Oh and how big are they?
Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls.
Their a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. They are a dance act with not to complicated metal music and put up very entertaining shows.
They can't be compared to bands like lovebites wich are way better musicians and play their own instruments and compose their own music. My daughters like babymetal more then lovebites though😅
The Linda Linda's next.
I remember you said you liked guitar solos. Hagane have a relatively new song called tengagoken i think. The guitar player Sakura has an amazing solo
If you continue with lovebites. You MUST see holy war live
